The little boy has apparently released his cricket from under the woven basket that his left hand now leans on. There is a red lacquer signature plaque on the base. Bearing one Japanese character. An old repair shows clearly on my photos. At one time the left hand, basket and the leaf that joins basket and knee were broken away.they have been repaired and reglued well, but a better job could certainly be done. Antique 19th Century Decorated Porcelain Chamber Pot with Lid
Antique Porcelain 19th Century Commode From the estate of a collector. This is a nicely decorated porcelain chamber pot with a lid. White glaze with yellow, there is a nice old crackle finish on the glaze. The lid has a beaded and scalloped edge with a fancy applied handle. The bottom sits on a pedestal form that also has a scalloped base, and there is a handle in the back. No chips or cracks, in very nice antique condition. It is marked on the bottom in blue writing, but I am not sure of the name. Maybe someone out there is familiar with the marking. Chamber pot measures 8" across the top opening. 11" across with the back handle, and is about 7" tall to the top of the handle lid. Very nice. Pretty, antique Chamber Pot. ANTIQUE 19th Century IRONSTONE OFF-WHITE CHAMBER POT CHILD'S JOHNSON BROS. STYLE
V ery beautiful ANTIQUE IRONSTONE CHAMBER POT. It could be a child's potty because of the smaller size. With two rows of lovely scalloped design and semi-ornate handle, this is a wonderful display item. This piece is very old probably from the very late 1800’s, very early 1900’s, it has overall glazing/grazing which confirms its extreme age and adds to its stunning antiquated appearance that collector’s seek. This fine chamber pot measures approx. 5-1/8" high, approx. 5” deep, 9” across the top of the chamber pot, the base measures 5-1/4” across. Resembles the high quality of Johnson Brothers but no maker's mark. This piece is in very good condition. There are no stains or rust on the ironstone, which is perfectly off-white, no chips, no cracks other than the beautiful grazing. MAGNIFICENT! Mark in the bottom says it was made on October 13. 1866, by Samuel Alcock in England. The auction is for a very large late-19 th century ceramic chamber pot/ lidded jar. The double-handled piece has a rose. Purple, and golden floral design and green accent leaves, with heavy gold accents on the body and sponged gold around the rim and handles. The underside has the Maddocks Lamberton Works(Trenton. NJ) Royal Porcelain logo which was utilized 1893- 1915. The piece is in Excellent Condition– no chips or cracks. Slight crazing on pot and lid. Dimensions: 15”H(with lid) x 11.5” diameter. Offered for auction is a lovely 19th. century brown transfer ware. Unmarked chamber pot with companion cover. This lovely pot measures 8" in height including the finial on the cover 8 1/2" in diameter not including the handle and is in good, clean, used condition with no cracks, lines, or repairs and with VERY minor crazing. The only apology is a small chip noted on the underside of the cover(photo 2) which in no way deters from the beauty of this wonderful pot. The brown transfer is sharp and detailed. White Ironstone Chamber Pot "Canada" (?) Poppy and Wheat 19th Century
Beautiful enbossed pattern of poppies and wheat with concave ribbing around bottom. Believe it is the"Canada Shape" or a very close facsimile. The markings on the bottom are rare so precludes positive identification. If anyone recognizes it. Please let me know. Clear in the marking is: N&Z Superior" with three crosses adorning a crown. The raised register mark is also not decipherable. Pot measures approximately 8 1/2" in diameter x 5 1/2" high. Inside and outside pot is clean and shiny. Has the three stilt marks with a sliver of clay next to it.under glaze. Part of manufacturing. Has two narrow slits in clay, under curve of handle. Have to turn over to see and part of manufacturing. This auction is for the above pictured antique ironstone chamber pot from a relative's estate. It measures approximately 9 1/2 inches in diameter and is 5 1/4 inches high. This is in very nice condition. There is a rough area on the lip which seems to be a manufacturing defect. Also there is a small split on the bottom of the handle which I am showing in the photos ~ that too may be a manufacturing defect ~ I can't say for certain. 19th Century Miniature Aluminum Desktop Spittoon
At auction is this wanderful example of an 19th century desktop spitoon. This item was intended for the buisness man that spent time at a desk. It is mostly round but it has and octigonal shape under the round fluted top ridge and then goes back to round. This is one of the finest example of an miniture spitoon I have ever seen. It is made from aluminum. It is 2in. tall and 2 1/4in. at its widest point and weighs 1.5ozs. It is weighted in the bottom so that it will not tip. If you lay it on its side it automatically stands upright. This item is in very good condition with some slight scuffs; mostly on the inside. I was told by the shop owner that I had done much business with and trusted that the piece came from an old Nob Hill estate. As you can see from the pictures it is clearly stamped"WEDGWOOD& CO. SIMI-PORCELAIN ENGLAND" It is in"MINT" condition and measures 8 3/4" tall and 9" across. This represents the best of old San Francisco and even survived the Great Earthquake in the mid 1900's. Up for sale is an old 19th c. chamber or bean pot. Only the experts would know. There is a vent hole on the lid if this means anything. However. It is is good condition. The ceramic shows age. The lid has minor old chips on inside edge. The lid's blue painted pattern is actually very nice. The base is sculpted, too. CHALLINOR AND MAYER DECORATED PORCELAIN WASH SET 19th Century This is the most complete Wash Set and the best condition you could probably find. The business of Challinor& Mayer is mention only for one year in the 1887 Porter directory. From 1862 to 1891 the works is recorded as Edward and Charles Challinor. Edward& Charles Challinor were in operation from 1862 to 1899 and the partnership of Challinor and Mayer was at the same factory. This sort of thing was not unusual. There were 100's and 100's of pottery companies at this time and many only lasted a few years and so to protect themselves many had multiple companies with different partners. So if one went bust the others carried on.
