Which I believe is from the mid to late 1950’s. It is machine caned. And the cane is in perfect condition. Comes from a smoke free home. The chair can be picked up on Long Island. While the frames are in excellent condition ... moreoverall, they will need to be reupholstered. The foam padding has turned to yellow dust, a common problem with chairs of this era unfortunately. The fabric itself is in great shape, though dusty from the dried-out padding, and could probably be reused if desired. The legs and frames are free of scuffs and scratches. Though one frame has a separated corner joint at the top(an easy fix with a clamp and glue) and one chair has a small ding in the wood on the top left side. Both chairs are in their original golden oak finish, and are each marked as having been manufactured in March of 1973 on the Knoll tags underneath. DIMENSIONS: 19.5" wide. 22.75" deep, 31.5" high. SHIPPING: Chairs will ship via FedEx Ground/Home Delivery unless otherwise requested. Could be shipped for $75 via Greyhound Package Express. Thonet-style Rocking Chair in XLT shape, Seat and back in Cane.
You are bidding on a Thonet-style rocking chair with cane seat and back. In perfect condition. I say Thonet-style because the original chair of this design was only made in Austrian. Thonets were considered one of the first companies to mass produce chairs for public use. These"bentwood" chairs were quite the rage in the very late 1800s and continue to be made well into the 20th century even into the early 1960's. The productions of these"originals" have been made since the late 1800's. You can even buy a new one today online for around $150, but I am sure it is Made in China and not the quality of craftsmenship that the repros were from even 40 years ago. This one has had only one owner. Was in their loft library and got very little use. Like new condition. Measurements are 33" wide, 44' high and 27" ... moreacross. VINTAGE BENTWOOD FOOTSTOOL THONET JACOB JOSEF KOHN STYLE SHOE STORE STOOL
You are bidding on a vintage bentwood footstool or shoe salesman's stool. A footstool such as this is illustrated in a 1926 product catalog from Jacob& Josef Kohn. I have seen a couple of other stools like this attributed to Jacob& Josef Kohn. But as the stool has no markings I can't be positive of the maker. Their early footstools like this had a wooden bar at the bottom whereas this one has a metal or chrome bar. The bentwood stool is made of a dark wood. Possibly walnut. The wooden top of the stool has a light padding and is covered in navy blue velvet. The oval bar at the bottom is made of a shiny metal that looks like chrome. Although the upholstery has some age and a bit of nap wear at the edges. I don't think it is the original material. I believe it may have been recovered at some point in time. The finish on the ... morewood bears the normal and expected faint surface marks from age and careful use. The metal bar does have some faint scratching and surface marks as seen in the last photo. The stool stands 12" in height and is 15 1/2" in length. The top is 5" at the widest point and the bottom is 9" at the widest point. This is a really lovely vintage bentwood footstool. For your consideration is a Vintage Mid-Century Modern Bent Plywood Stool. Which I believe to be a genuine Alvar Aalto. It is certainly vintage to say the least, and is in overall fair condition as you can see, likely having been refinished at some point based on the finish. It appears to have had something on the bottom of it, that is missing now, likely a bumper so they could be safely stacked. It has no chips or cracks that I can see or makers marks of any kind. RARE* 19th Century Early Thonet Child's(Kinder) Highchair Labeled Thonet Wien and Branded Thonet Austria Measurements: Height 32 1/2" from top of back rest to floor. Depth- from outer footrest edge to edge of top chair back about 26" Width- front leg across to front leg 15" Seat diameter is 13 1/4" Kinder furniture from this time period made by Michel Thonet as well as from Vienna. Austria is very hard to find. With much of the kinder furniture they had much heavy use. Just an FYI, for a very short perod of time actually assembling of Thonet furniture was done in Vienna. There was a main office there but very quickly Thonet shifted everything to Bohemia(Czechoslavakia) Later for import purposes he paper labeled chairs with the Vienna location but the"brands" on the chair denote actual location. This chair ... morehas a Vienna Austria brand. Condition: The chair frame is sturdy. It has that nice aged original wood glow. Doesn't look like anyone tried to refinish it. There are areas on the chair with wear. The Highchair Tray is missing. Chair was originally made with a wooden tray that attached to the chair's backrest on the side. The caning or fiber weave needs to be replaced on the backrest. The seat had a replacement to its original cane work and has since deteriorated. Foot rest is original but very worn and no finish. The chair's left arm has a small piece of brass. That is actual for attaching the highchair tray to the arm. I believe this is a fine example structurally. As with bentwood chairs of this age the bentwood over time does and can separate where the bentwood"stirrup end" tapers off. The wood piece that stabilizes the legs shows an old repair near the bentwood stirrup end(point where wood tapers to an end) I see some lighter paint droplets here and there- it must of been near a room being painted. In a nutshell. This rare early Thonet is in need of some work on the seat and backrest. I'm not sure how hard it would be for you to find an original Thon

Look at this Thonet! Excellent condition. Mid Century Modern. Possible circa 1896. THONET signed. Very little use over the years. Was only used by Grandma over the last 40 years to rock the kids to sleep. It may have had a little tune up many years ago as the only change I can find is philips head screws have replaced the originals. It is my understanding this was bought about 40 years ago and was used prior to that but it is hard to see any wear and tear. 100% functional. Great condition. No rips in the weave.Tears, gouges or cracks in the wood. Chair is Approx 40x40x20. I have found shipping via Greyhound would be the most cost effective. T he wood supporting the back is gently curved along with the wood frame supporting under the seat. The frame is strong and sturdy. Aesthetically. It is also in very nice condition. The wood frame shows only some wear mostly on the left side. The left hand rest and left front bottom curved rocker have some small dings and some light smaller scuffs. They could be rubbed out if you need it to look like new. Again they just seem to be on the left front and are nothing major(see photos) Pads do show a lot of wear. It sort of has an Art Nouveau look to it. The settee is about 49" wide(seat itself is 42" and 37" tall. Both pieces have the Thonet paper label as well as the stenciled"Thonet Austria" The caning is hand woven not machine made. It would be very costly to have all this caning done today. Not sure if the caning is original but it is in excellent condition; the last picture shows a few very minor breaks in the chair seat. Also at some point somebody added some strengthening screws in the back of the chair(next to the last picture) The arm of the chair might have a repaired split where it joins the chair seat. Vintage Thonet Gull Wing Side Arm Chair Mid-Century Modern Molded Plywood
Great look and it is sound and solid but has been painted. It looks like a red primer first then brown on top.It was done many years ago as there is wear to the paint. Also there is a 1/16" deep by 1" wide by 5" long piece of veneer missing from the furniture grade plywood that this is made of. It is at the base of the one arm and it is common to have a problem there as the veneer wants to buckle when they steam form them in to place. It usually blisters and cracks there. If you are going to strip it and take it back to the original blonde finish you'll need to replace it with the natural plywood veneer strip. If you are going to repaint it you just paint over top. Fill it with wood filler or just patch it in with any veneer strip you can find. It sets very comfortable. These gorgeous chairs have a beautiful aged patina and feature a bentwood frame and an embossed seat. All 8 have the original paper labels(see picture) Which state a patent notice for March 29, 1910. Chairs are also stamped deep into the wood, on the interior of seat rim, MADE IN POLAND. For their age. Chairs are in very good vintage condition. There is some rubbed paint on minor sections of the wood(rubbed off from other furniture during moving) Seats are sturdy. You will be receiving a complete set of 8 chairs. 2 early 20th century bentwood chair by Jacob and Josef Kohn. Their design is based on the original Thonet no. 14. Chair dates from 1918 to prior to 1922. Kohn merged with Mundus around WW1 and Thonet merged with Mundus/Kohn in 1922. Also. Poland by it's name did not exist until after WW1. The label reflects the KOHN and MUNDUS relationship. These chairs are local pick up only. I'm no expert. But loved these chairs and planned on restoring them years ago. never got to it, but still think they could be nice. There are enough pieces to make eight(8) chairs. They all have the Thonet labels on the bottom and all the original components. cant find the screws to the disassembled ones) They have rust, dust, and a good amount of delamination, but maybe they can be used for parts by someone who restores these old chairs.

For auction is one beautiful pair of matching original Thonet bentwood armchairs in pale yellow vinyl. They are in excellent condition. The walnut finish frames show very little wear. And scuffs and marks on the legs are minimal. Armrests have just a touch of wear on the edges. One arm on one of the chairs has a small notch in it(closeup photo provided) but that is the lone flaw. The vinyl cushions are original and have nary a stitch out of place. They have been thoroughly cleaned and have no rips or tears. There is the tiniest spot of wear on the top corner of one chair(pictured) and the seat of another has some very tiny, light purple flecks(pictured) Each chair has its original Thonet tag. Mid-Century Thonet, Milo Baughman-Style Tubular Steel Rocking Chair Faux Leather
Unique ~ One of A Kind! Mid-Century Modernist Ergonomically-Shaped Rocking Chair Black Tubular Steel Thonet-Style Rockers and Milo Baughman-Style Leather Arm Rests. Faux-Leather Upholstery I don't know who manufactured this chair. I could not find a label. But this likely a one-of-a-kind Troy Sunshade chair, due to the type of supports and structure. The curved-metal style of the rockers resembles Thonet. Perfectly balanced and comfortable. The ergonomic shape of the upholstery indicates that it is from the Modernist era. When Marcel Breuer, Mart Stam, and Ulrich Bohme were creating their own individual styles. The leather arm rests are also unique. Too. They resemble those featured on several pieces that Milo Baughman designed for Thayer Coggin of North Carolina. Baughman created modernist pieces for Thayer Coggin from 1953 until his ... moredeath in 2003. This chair is definitely a rare. Hand-crafted rocking chair. It may even have been a prototype of sorts. If you look closely, you can see the welds throughout the framing and in the curves on the rockers. The original leather arm straps(as shown in the last picture) were cracked and broken. So I took the chair to a harness maker and had him install new leather straps with brass studs. The upholstery is made up of three sections- two pieces for the backrest. And one for the seat. The backrest cushions are supported by a painted black steel frame. I removed the screws in order to search for a name and cleaned each seat section. The brown faux leather appears to be in pretty nice condition. I have re-assembled the seat sections after cleanup. Three buttons will have to be replaced. This chair is so easy to disassemble that it would be a breeze to reupholster it. The black metal tube rockers have seen some use over the years. The black paint is worn off the bottoms. Antique Thonet Rocking Chair / Bentwood / Rocker "THONET Burned Imprint"
I am not sure of the actual age of this rocking chair but if you are here looking you might have an idea:o) Along with the"THONET" imprint there is either an X6 or 9X(not sure which of the two it is suppose to be) imprinted on several parts of the chair. The chair is in very well condition except for the ends of the rocker as you can see in the picture. The seat and backrest are not broken anywhere. There are a few spots of white paint on the chair. I did not want to attempt to remove it and mess anything up. There is also on broken screw on the bottom board. The piece that would be behind your ankles when seated. Also has nicks and scuffs. Despite the minor imperfections this is a beautiful chair and worth restoration! Listing as a"Pick Up" only but would be willing to ship if you make the arrangements.
