This is a great set of Thonet Bentwood chairs. They are in good condition for there age. The one chair has some writing on the arm as pictured and all of the chairs show wear. This wishbone or ribbed style is very rare. Three of the four chairs are tagged the fourth is missing. The chairs are 30 and 1/2 inches tall- the seats are 17 inches wide-19 inches from front to back- and the arms are just under 23 inches at the chairs widest. Please ask any questions before bidding. I believe that this old New England F ar m childs wooden rocking chair dates to the La te- 1800s. It came from a farm in New England Connecticut and although I am uncertain of its exact age- it has the old'round ed top' iron nails which nail-down the bentwood slats which make the seat of the rocker-please see close-up pic of the nails that w ere used in a close-up provided for your inspection. There are 2 nails added for stability& reinforcement which are much newer and added at a later date at the outsides of each of the two rocker arms-these 2 nails are easily distinguished from other nails originally used and presen t. The wood is solid and the chair is all-wood-the ... morewood looks to be oak-please review all pics as to wood type and use your judgement as to the wood type. The chair is very sound and structurally inta ct- one crosspiece which pegs into its leg counterpart has receded back but is still fixed tight inside leg-may be pushed back but I leave as found as I do not want to force it- there is a pic of the right side of chair which shows shows this. The condition is very good and the chair is in very good period condition-not a new or vintage chair and as such one must expect some irregularities and imperfections which is what provides the antique authenticity. The beauty, the age-earned natural organic wood patina on surfaces. And the character and charm of old furniture-there are a few small chips and a few small-thin insi gnificant cracks- there are no significant cracks-there are some mild fissures in the wood on the top of the arms which are not significant-see pics.There is nothing broken the rocker rocks nicely with a very fluid easy motion-all the wood appears in good shape-no water damage or stains. T he wood supporting the back is gently curved along with the wood frame supporting under the seat. The frame is strong and sturdy. Aesthetically. It is also in very nice condition. The wood frame shows only some wear mostly on the left side. The left hand rest and left front bottom curved rocker have some small dings and some light smaller scuffs. They could be rubbed out if you need it to look like new. Again they just seem to be on the left front and are nothing major(see photos) Pads do show a lot of wear. 2 early 20th century bentwood chair by Jacob and Josef Kohn. Their design is based on the original Thonet no. 14. Chair dates from 1918 to prior to 1922. Kohn merged with Mundus around WW1 and Thonet merged with Mundus/Kohn in 1922. Also. Poland by it's name did not exist until after WW1. The label reflects the KOHN and MUNDUS relationship. The Chair on the left measures seat to floor 16" Chair top to floor 32" seat diameter 14 1/2" Paper label underneath seat states MUNDUS and KOHN. Second small label m. POL. This chair has a lighter patina than the other KOHN chair I'm offering for auction. Chair is sturdy. Nice pressed seat with some wear- design still strong. Thonet bentwood chairs Vintage 1920s chair
These chairs are local pick up only. I'm no expert. But loved these chairs and planned on restoring them years ago. never got to it, but still think they could be nice. There are enough pieces to make eight(8) chairs. They all have the Thonet labels on the bottom and all the original components. cant find the screws to the disassembled ones) They have rust, dust, and a good amount of delamination, but maybe they can be used for parts by someone who restores these old chairs.

I am not sure of the actual age of this rocking chair but if you are here looking you might have an idea:o) Along with the"THONET" imprint there is either an X6 or 9X(not sure which of the two it is suppose to be) imprinted on several parts of the chair. The chair is in very well condition except for the ends of the rocker as you can see in the picture. The seat and backrest are not broken anywhere. There are a few spots of white paint on the chair. I did not want to attempt to remove it and mess anything up. There is also on broken screw on the bottom board. The piece that would be behind your ankles when seated. Also has nicks and scuffs. Antique Operators Stool - Industrial Barstool - Drafting Chair- Bentwood-Vintage
Available here is the fourth of four antique industrial stools I am listing. This beautiful stool was probably used by a telephone switchboard operator or possibly by a architect as a drafting chair. This would be perfect as a repurposed barstool! The stool body is completely made out of wood. Unlike many of the later versions. The swivel mechanism is steel. It dates to the early 1900's. Probably between 1910 and 1915. The stool is in good functioning condition. The chair height is adjustable by swiveling it one way or the other. The caning is in good shape. And it supported me(pushing 200 lbs) without issue. It features a flared four-legged base with intact and stable heel ring. Supported by bent wooden rods affixed to the base legs. It has a contoured backrest. The footrest has what looks like a splinter in the wood, but this was how ... morethe chair was originally crafted. The wood is wrapped around the base and the split is where the ends connected. The seat diameter is approximately 16.5" and the footrest diameter is approximately 18.25" When the chair is swiveled to its lowest position the seat is approximately 28" from the floor. The finish is a medium, to medium-dark brown. 30 1/2" tall, 18" deep, 18 1/2" wide and weighs 16 pounds. Condition: Normal wear for this vintage. Two small nicks on the edge of the seat. The Kohn company was a contemporary competitor of Thonet. This chair measures app. 26" high by 18" by 18" All measurements are taken at the widest point. It is made of oak and I believe it has the original caning or a early replacement. This chair has an old repair on the right front leg. It is sturdy and not very noticeable and from the day when things were fixed and not so easily discarded. There are a few little scrapes from use and age too. We have not touched the finish since it has been in our possesion and believe it has not been redone. The underneath is stamped with the JJ Kohn mark. A nice early chair for any collection! Offere d for sale is a nice solid Pressed Back Oak Bentwood Arm Chair circa 1900. The back features pressed oak leaves and ribbon with small beading. Seven turned spindles run down the back of the chair. Wide bentwood oak arms flank each side of the seat. The seat was originally cane but has been replaced with a black foux leather surrounded by brass tacks. This is a large solid sturdy chair with no apologies other than normal signs of use commensurate age. The chair has been refinished and is ready to add a warm touch of the past to any home or office.
