These vases date to circa the 1860s-1870s. These are large double-handled vases. The vases are beautifully hand-painted. Featuring a detailed scene of a peacock on a balcony. In the background of the scene is a peaceful river and trees. The scenes are mirrored, meaning this is a true pair and the peacocks will face one another when displayed side by side. The reverse of the vase is more simply painted, with blue flowers, realistically rendered. The vases have hand-gilded details, around the rim, base and handle, and thickly bordering the peacock scene. A wonderful and awesome antique pair of Old Paris vases. These are really massive. Vases measure app 15" in height. Base measures 5 1/2" diam/ 9" width from handle to handle/ 6" opening. These weight over 5 lbs each. The detailing and workmanship of these are really great. The children are great. These are in really nice condition for the age. There is some wear as to be expected to anything of this age. I don't see anything that I consider damage. On the base of one is a dark circle and not sure why.It is not damaged on the inside. Old Paris Vases from 1840's
Up for bid is a pair of 1840's Paris Vases. They stand 12" tall and 9 1/4" wide at the top. Both have different scenes of 19th century mills on a river. These came from an estate and was told that the marks on the bottom dated them to the 1840's. Paint on tulips have a lot of ware and one tulip has half of tulip missing as shown in picture. No other chips or cracks or damage.

This pair of unusual Porcelain Shell Vases are both marked"Made in France" on the bottom. They appear to have some age. But may not be older than the twentieth century. Thee is remnants of old gold articulation and appear to be in great condition with no chips or cra cks. Note. We are pleased to offer this beautiful. Vintage pair of glazed earthenware(terracotta) vases. The vases have been fired with a black glaze which provides the background color. A"foil" type substance has been applied to the vases in a decoupaged fashion. The decoupage is lovely flowers, leaves and vines which are all in a muted silver. There is some texture to the surface. The technique has been beautifully accomplished and the vases have a hand painted look.it is very hard to discern that they are not hand painted. The vases/urns have a gorgeous, French/Parisian Chinoiserie feel and flare. They are quite stunning. The vases are not new. They have the appearance of antique earthenware but I am not sure of their age so I have listed as vintage. They are in very good, vintage condition. There are some areas of aging to the exterior ... morefoil, but not much. There is one small area(quarter size) where the foil has peeled. This is near the top and could be completely covered with foliage or greenery. There are a couple of chips at the bottom of the vases, but these do not distract from the beauty of the pieces. They are glazed on the inside as well as the outside. The bottoms are not glazed. They have been used for floral display. There are some traces of a silicone substance on the rims which was used to keep the arrangements in place. This peels of easily. The vases/pots are heavy and nicely made. There are no marks. Here's an Extraordinary Pair Of 19th Century Antique Porcelain Vases Expertly Handpainted with Portraits of the Poets Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and William Cullen Bryant. The quality of the artwork on these is truly as good as it gets- they must have been done by the top decorators at whatever company produced them. Which leads me to say I don't know who made them; they have the look and feel of Old Paris Porcelain. But of course the subject matter would indicate an origin in England. Perhaps the porcelain blanks were painted by an English artist. There's some information to go on; the bases have some impressed numbers, and painted artist's initials. This is a lovely matched pair of old Paris French covered urns.They have lovely florals and green with scroll work. There is gold trim as well. There are a coat of arms with a lions. It says Fortis In Bello. I have done some research and this means. Strength in both Faith And War. The ceramic is a very hard heavy stoneware type pottery. They are about 10 1/2 inches tall to the top of lids. They are almost 15 inches around at the widest part. The bases are just under 3 inches across. They are in excellent condition with minor wear. I find no chips or cracks.There is some crazing. They are marked on the bottom as shown. They are from the House of Samson.I estimate these are 19th C or older. Very beautiful l.

One vase has a small repair on the right bottom leaf and there are two chips or slivers on the inside of the vase. Both have several old firing cracks on the inside but they and the chips are not visible on the outside of the vases. There probably were gold accents on the white flowers on the outside of the vases but they have been worn off after more than 150 years. Both vases stand approximately 8 1/2" high. Antique pair of Old Paris Porcelain figural spill vases 1860 Haviland
This gorgeous mirrored pair of Old Paris vases is each 11 inches tall. One of the vases has a woman on it and the other vase has a man on it. The figures are each in 18th style century dress. The vase portion is shaped like a large flower on a stem. There is a liberal use of gilding on the vases. These were likely made from Haviland blanks about 1860. The vase with the woman has had some restoration at some time in the past. The restoration can be seen by the yellow on the back of the vase portion and the inside of the vase. There are no other chips. Cracks or repairs. There is wear to the gilding. Additional photos can be provided upon request.

They have flowers scenes in the centers. They are in very good condition. I do not see any major flaws. No chips or cracks. The only thing I want to point out is there is a brown spot in the porcelain at the bottom of one of them as you can see in the pictures. It is smooth so I would guess it is in the porcelain. Antique Pair of old Paris porcelain garniture vases urns horse head handles
This unique pair of Old Paris porcelain vases or urns are hand painted and have horse handles. The urns are 10 5/8 inches tall. The urns date to circa 1860 and are French. The pieces have hand painted scenes of the water and scenery with the mountains in the background. One of the pieces is in good condition with only a chip to an ear on one of the horses. And a small chip to the other horses ear, and a chip on each side below the handles. The other piece has had a substantial amount of damage with breaks and chips. Although impressive at 17" high(diameters: 5 1/2" at the base and 6 1/2" at the mouth) The most eye-catching thing in these 19th century vases is their decoration: Clio, the muse of History, and Erato, the muse of erotic/love Poetry. These figures of the Greek mythology, done in grisaille, are recognizable by their attributes: the first holds a golden box supposedly full of ancient scrolls; the latter, a cithara, a musical instrument in the family of the lyre. Beautiful caladium plants and flowers and leaves of the passion vine, as well as other vines add a colorful whiff of madness to the scenes. The black ground makes the colors more vibrant, while gold rings at the base and the mouth of the vases put a touch of luxury on them. Both are drilled to be used as lamps, if preferred.

What is Old Paris Porcelain? Old Paris Porcelain or as the French say Vieux Paris Porcelain refers not to a single manufacturer but to more than thirty porcelain sources based within the City of Paris between the mid 1700's until around 1870 the end of the Second Empire. The term was not actually used until the latter part of that period. The various Paris artisans mostly situated in the northeast side of Paris honed their skills in a hurry or went out of business. At the outset they had to compete with ... moreKing Louis XV's own Royal Manufactory at Sevres just 18 miles to the southwest of the city. To minimize competition the king even enacted laws that severely restricted the activities of other porcelain manufacturers. But as the importance of porcelain became clearer as to its positive impact on the French economy. Old Paris porcelain enjoyed more latitude in its operations. In fact. Old Paris manufacturers also benefited not only from intense competition from one another, but in some cases, were creatively and financially nimbler than even the Royal manufactory at Sèvres. Many Old Paris porcelain artisans had their own patrons from the French nobility. They catered more quickly to changing styles and customs. By the turn of the nineteenth century nearly all Old Paris porcelain was the hard-paste variety thanks to the earlier discovery of kaolin near Limoges. Tall antique OLD Paris vases/urns pair
These beautiful vases came from an estate of an avid antique collector. They are in great condition for their age. Number 1 measures 16" high and#2 is slightly shorter at 15 3/4" high. Number 2 had a very slight hairline crack on the bottom. They are a little over 11" wide at the widest point. When you rub your finger over the painted areas. You can feel the strokes of paint. The gold is rubbed in a few places. It almost looks like that was done on purpose.

Pair Antique Greek Revival Paris Porcelain Potpourri Vases with Lids(Click to Enlarge) Click to Enlarge) This pair of Paris porcelain vases date from the early/mid 19th century. And feature gilt grounds decorated with acanthus leaf pattern at the shoulder, looping handles with Grecian masks of horned males, and green painted ground from base to shoulder including cartouches depicting loving mothers and children, and lyre motifs. Measures: 12.5" by 6.5" by 5.2" There is some wear to the gilding and minor losses to the painted decorations, all of which are consistent with age. There are no visible cracks or restorations and a minor losses to the underside of one lid and inside rim of one vase. We have not found signs of restoration but cannot rule out the possibility. LOVELY Pair Christian Fischer Porcelain Vases Old Paris Style Early 19th Century
FEATURING A LOVELY PAIR OF CHRISTIAN FISCHER PORCELAIN VASES EARLY 19th CENTURY. Produced in Pirkenhammer Porcelain Factory in Bohemia which is now the Czech Republic. Christian Fischer became the proprietor in 1818 and used his initials as a mark. Both vases are marked CF with 737.1. As well as an incised oblong J. Gorgeous ornate detailing with beautifully applied cut flowers and hand painted leaf design. Much gold gilding still intact throughout, but of course some fading due to the age of the pieces. Two leaves, one petal, and one top edge have chips-as displayed in photos. Also, there are a few small dark spots on the upper backside of one vase which probably occurred during the firing process-very minor and so easily overlooked. Pair of French Art Glass Vases with bronze mounts, Serves? Old Paris? 19th C.
For auction is a wonderful pair of French art glass vases mounted in what appears to be bronze. These are late 19th century or early 20th century. They measure approximately 9-1/2 inches high x 6-1/4 inches wide. The depth for one vase is approximately 4 inches. They other is approximately 4-1/2 inches. The bases are not turned exactly the same. There is what seems to be a flaw in the glass of each vase. Photographed and described in detail below. The vase photographed against the white background has an almost straight line within a slightly darkened circle. The outside of the vase is completely smooth. It does not appear to a crack. Even when looking straight down inside the vase- the area looks smooth. It is hard to detect this upon casual viewing. The vase must be held to light to have a good view. It was photographed here with a small ... moreflashlight for thorough documentation. The entire area of note measures approximately less than 1 inch x 1/2 inch. The vase against the black background has a similar issue. There is a bubble than can be felt on the outside of the glass. It shows a bit white-like. It is accompanied by a line measuring approximately 2 inches long. This line does not look like a crack from the outside or inside. Not sure what this could be. However. The vase easily turns enough within the mount so the bubble can hide behind the horizontal floral bronze swag. The other vase can be rotated in the same fashion. Other than the details in the above 2 paragraphs. The vases are in good condition. There does not seem to be chips, repairs, or discoloration present. Normal signs of age are found on the bronze.
