Vintage E J D Bodley Porcelain Plate. Fine Condition HAVE 4 Bodley China
For your consideration we offer THIS(and 3 other rim colors in our ebay store) gorgeous E.J.D. Bodley Porcelain Plate. 7 1/2" Diameter. Edwin Bodley. Burslem, c. 1875-92 Edwin James Drew Bodley worked at a part of Samuel Alcock's Old Hill Pottery at Burslem which had been divided into a china and a separate earthenware factory in 1867. The china section(which was called Crown Works) were taken first by Bodley& Diggory and then by Bodley& Son until Edwin J.D. Bodley began to trade under his own name from June 25. 1875. From 1875 to October 31, 1888, he had William Telford as a partner, but this is not reflected in the trade style E.J.D. Bodley. Good quality porcelains were produced in the 1875-92 period. On the evidence of the high fractional pattern numbers found on registered forms of 1876. It appears that Bodley continued ... morethe former Samuel Alcock and Hill Pottery Company's pattern-number sequence; numbers such as 4/9172 occur. Edwin J.D. Bodley's porcelains normally bear impressed or printed name-or initial-marks. But care should be taken to distinguish between these and those of Edward Fisher Bodley& Co. 1864-82) or Edward Fisher Bodley& Son(1882-98) firms which produced earthenwares rather than porcelains. While we're not certain what pattern this is. We are certain that it is quite a lovely plate and in very fine condition with no chips, cracks, or crazings.Paint and Gold Gild are also very fine! There is also a yellow gold rimmed one. One with pink rim, and a light green rimmed one, for sale@ LesIsMore Antiquities ebay store. The FOUR together make a great set for any table especially for the upcoming SPRING HOLIDAYS! US Flat Rate Shipping Fee of $5.00 INCLUDES: Shipping.Packaging,Handling and Insurance. Thank you.

12 BODLEY HAND PAINTED GAME BIRD PORCELAIN PLATES
Please scroll down the page to see additional photographs of this item. 12 BODLEY HAND PAINTED GAME BIRD PORCELAIN PLATES Presented is a marvelous set of 12 hand painted porcelain plates made by Bodley of England. The plates have an elegant scalloped design with fluting at the rim. Each plate is beautifully hand painted with a different bird including Heron. Wild Turkey, Gannet, Red Grouse, Wood Cock, Widgeon, Crested Grebe, Avocet, Ring Dove, Snipe, Mallard, and Bernicle Goose. The painting is very nicely done against a light yellow ground with a peach color around the edges. The plates were most likely made in the late 1800s. Each plate is marked on the underside with the name of the bird pictured. Bodley Hanley England for the maker, and Gilman, Collmore& Co. New York for the retailer. All of the plates are signed by the artist, W. ... moreBellis or W. Ballis. The Bernicle Goose plate is cleanly broken into two pieces as you can see in the photographs. But otherwise the set is in excellent condition with only a few spots of minor surface wear near the edges. I believe the broken plate could probably be professionally restored, or certainly glued back together. It might not be usable but it would make a nice cabinet plate. There are no other cracks, no chips, no crazing, and no repairs. The plates measure 8 3/4 inches in diameter. Good luck and bid with confidence. SMITH, PLATE #256 (7Th Bk.) ~ "BODLEY & HANLEY" ENGLISH PORCELAIN, OPEN SALT DIP
~ LOW OPENING BIDS VS ACTUAL VALUE& REASONABLE SHIPPING ~ Description: This is absolutely stunning in terms of Antique porcelain or china individual salt cellars. When I first saw these. Prior to purchase, my thought was"Prussian" or"Royal Bayreuth" but doing the research when I'm in doubt, I was please to find only one reference that even came close to(almost identical) to identifying this piece. That was the marvelous little Allen& Helen Smith's 7th Edition of 840 Individual Open Salts Illustrated, published in 1980, Plate#256(Bottom R. They state the piece illustrated in this Plate was produced by"Booley& Handley" when in fact, what they meant was"Bodley& Hanley" When Mini Rudnick revised the Pricelist, which included all 10 Booklets written and published by the Country House, ... moreshe placed a value of the counterpart to this piece at $35.00, therefore, we are allowing each collector an opportunity to purchase this piece much more reasonable at its opening bid. The border lip opening has approximate equal distancing with high and low petaling edge with two tone, faded green highlights further accented in gold filigree. The actual opening is trimmed with a fine line of brilliant gold. Below the two-toned green opening if raised porcelain with floral leaves, branches, and antique roses in cream, violet, very pale pink. Continuing down the surround is further pattern adornment, accenting a recessed salt base. The salt is totally hand painted but has no marks which many producers of porcelain chose not to do. I perfect example is Royal Bayreuth who marked the Master salts, but none of the individual salts.so you can see, it was not only labor intensive to mark, many would mark only the parent pieces that accompanied the individual pieces. This would be a focal point in your collection.and not only affordable, but worth every penny! For a salt that is 148 years old, one would be pressed to find another in such excellent condition. Bodley& Believe the date mark is from 1880's"AS IS" CONDITION Surface wear& faint hairline crack. Chips, and paint loss SO PLEASE Read description and refer to my photos Please be comfortable with the condition.the damaged is noted. Approximate dimensions are: 3 1/8 D"X 2 1/4 H" X 4" W to handle. This is being sold only for display and will not guarantee usage. Stored in back of china cupboard and I do not want to be too aggressive so I have not deep cleaned. Only dusted. Pretty pink with 5 images of birds and Oriental designs. Very detailed. And I think it had a more complete gold trim that has worn away. Handle is squared off to look like bamboo. ... morethe outside paint has scratches but bottom has small"flea bites" and minor chips. My grandmother rarely threw any items away and since the saucer is missing it was probably broken beyond repair. I know it is at least 90 years old, possibly older based on the online research I found. I am hoping that this pretty little cup can find a lonely saucer and go to a new home BUT AGAIN PLEASE I am NOT an expert. SO ask questions or tell me where I am making mistakes! This antique book"People's of Other Lands" was published in the USA and has a copyright date of 1932. It was written by G.R.Bodley who was the Superintendent of Schools in Fulton New York. This is a workbook. This book was the property of Elida Schools and is stamped so inside the front and back covers. It is in fair condition but pretty good for the age of the book. Cover is decent. Some pages are torn but not missing. There has been some marking in it but nothing that takes away from the reading. Someone wrote a name inside the front cover. I did not repair the rips with tape. I will leave that up to the buyer if they desire. I have included pictures of the rips and some of the markings.
