Antique/Vintage SOLID BRASS KETTLE/TEAPOT with HANDLE Approx 70yrs Old UNCLEANED
This is a possible diamond in the rough so to speak. It is what appears to be a SOLID BRASS TEA-POT or KETTLE with a FOLD DOWN HANDLE. It is quite tarnished inside and out and has been a garden'relic' for many years situated between pot plants in the yard. Partially under cover. The elderly lady who owned this item stated that it was approx. 70 years old. It has not been cleaned at all as you can see in the photos in fact it still has some garden dirt etc. attached. It weighs in at approx. 2lb. and measures approx. 8 inches high with the handle extended, and 5.25 inches high with handle folded down. It is approx. 5.5 inches in diameter. It has been well made, the handle folds down easily and smoothly, the lid fits very nicely and the overall shape is attractive. The inside is tarnished throughout and there is tarnish on the outside ... morejoins including the lid. It has a couple of dents and possibly scratches? under the dirty exterior. Here is a beautiful Antique Kutani ware Japanese Teapot in Very Fine condition with very little wear and no cracks or repairs. It is about 7" tall and 3.5" wide at the bottom. It has a bright orange glaze with black. Gold, green, blue and red in the coloring. It is very elegant, highly detailed, colorful and playful. It is hand painted and signed on the bottom and the top is as equally as beuatiful as the pot. There is only one very slight barely noticible edge wear inside the cover where the gap is for the tea to pour through but this does not affect the overall outstanding quality of this otherwise gorgeous teapot. In the southern part of Jiangsu Province, has been the center of Chinese teapot production since the Song Dynasty(960-1279) High quality Yixing clay comes from along the banks of Lake Tai near Nanjing. Refined and fired to a high temperature it produces a slightly absorbent pottery highly regarded by tea lovers. A good Yixing teapot should pour evenly from the pot, have a porcelanious ring to it when struck, a very snug fitting lid which if the lid has a hole will stop pouring when you put your finger over it. Since the clay will absorb some of the flavor of the tea and thus enhance the flavor, it is important to drink only one kind of tea out of it. Description This antique circa 1900 or earlier Indian or Persian brass teapot. Is hand worked of rounded bellied form, on four short tube legs with peacock head and neck spout, cobra form handle and stepped lid with an angular finial. The body is finely hand chased with scenes of horse men hunting deer and tigers in a rocky landscape and peacock plumage around the spout. It has wriggle work borders of scrolling leaves and lotus petals. This lovely piece is unmarked and it is in good condition with only minor marks, dinks and small scratches to the surface. It leaks around the foot rivets so we recommend display use or use as a censer only. One tiny cup and saucer, a milk jug and one lidded pot. It has been delicately hand painted with the tiniest but most precise of strokes to create the images of Japanese Geishas that you see on each piece. Very fine. Lightweight porcelain. The colouring is typical of this type of ware in the Kutani region. Markings are still being researched for old pieces. Check out my! For your consideration is this lovely Imari style floral decorated Teapot. I can't say if it is Japanese or Chinese. It was recently purchased at a high end auction in Charleston SC. The base is 6 inches x 4 1/2 inches. From the tip of the spout to the back of the handle is 10 inches. The opening at top has inner diameter of 4 inches by 2 3/4 inches. all measurements approximate) The only issue is a flat slicelike chip on the tip of the spout which I have tried to show in the photos. There is some age discoloration on the handleor it may be some worn off color since there is a couple of cobalt blue dots. It is similar on the cover tip where you can still see some gold gilt. Most likely this is an English piece, though it's unmarked, and I'd date it to the late 1800s. Has the remnant of a label on the bottom. In remarkable shape, with a warm and lovely patina. Rare Coalport Antique Staffordshire Teapot - England - c. 1830-1840 - Beautiful
Flamboyant Antique English Coalport teapot discovered at an estate sale in Sherman CT. Where the owner had tons of really lovely pieces of porcelain. This teapot appears to be completely hand painted with the some paint over the glaze. The pot has a very pretty floral design on a gorgeously shaped by hand as well as moulded. The handle arches and is spurred and there is a dragons head spout- Some call it a swans neck spout. To me it looks more like a dragon. I've seen the same Coalport teapot on the following website which shows the same pot with different decoration. Please review the photographs ... morecarefully. There are some light stains and some dark dots. There is crazing due to age and there are some stress cracks. The main stress crack is around the base of the bowl and above the feet. This crack appears to encircle 1/2 of the pot on the exterior. There is a stress crack on one side of the pot if the spout is to the left which is toward the top of the bowl and above the flowers and leaves. On the inside of the pot in this same spot you can see the crack as well- so it is visible inside and out. There is a stress crack in the bottom interior of the pot. There is a chip on the underside edge of the lid that is about ½ inch long that does not show unless the area is carefully inspected. The inside lip of the pot is a little rough. As is the inside rim of the lid. This teapot is very old(1830-1840) and is being sold“AS IS” When you hold the pot it seems solid. I would handle this old beauty with care. Karanti(Levetus Bros) Antique Georgian Style EPNS Silver Plated Teapot & Creamer
This antique Georgian style teapot and creamer were produced under the"Karanti" makers mark by the Levetus Brothers of Birmingham England probably in the 1890's. This style dates from that Victorian period and is made in a simple George III style with no decoration except for a run of applied rope-twist beading to the top shoulder and bottom of the pieces. The teapot is fitted with a fruitwood handle and finial. The pieces are in very good condition with no dents or major scr atches. There is some loss of the silver platting that is down to the nickle/brass base metal. The teapot has some identification letters scratched into the bottom(see picture) The teapot is 4.75' high to the top of the finial and 4.75" wide at the base without the handle and spout. Beautiful. Antique Teapot, bottom is stamped"Sudlow's Burslem" and imprinted into the procelain is"Made in England" Teapot measures 9" wide from spout tip to handle tip; and 6" tall to the top of the lip finial; snf 4-1/2" deep. Color is a deep Cream with lots of Gold-Leaf raised& flat decorations. Teapot appears to be very old as it has lots of crazing(please look closely at pictures#2& 4) Other than the crazing, which I think adds to it's vintage charm, it is in good vintage condition- no chips or cracks. Age is unknown, but this came from Riverhouse Antiques in New York, who recently retired its long-time business. A great collector's item at a reasonable price. A total of 7 pieces of old. Antique, original Teapot, Creamer, Sugar Bowl and extra of smal pot with lid. The teapot measured only 3 3/4 inches in diameter and 4 inches high. The Sugar Bowl 5 1/2 x 4 inches. The Creamer measures 4 x 4 1/2 inches. The extra teapot measures 3 x 3 1/2 inches. They are both very thin. Super thin, like paper and break very easy. Antique Japanese Satsuma Ceramic Footed Teapot. Shozan, Meiji Period, 1900 Hand painted teapot measures approximately 3 1/4"H x 6 1/2"W x 6 3/4"D. Teapot is heavily and intricately hand decorated and finished in gold paint. There are three feet on the bottom. Making it very stable. There is a character mark on the bottom for Shozan. Handle is made of woven cord. Piece was made in the Meiji period sometime around 1900. There are no cracks to the piece. There is a chip out of the tip of the spout that was painted over in gold long ago. There is a fine crazing to the piece that is only noticeable on the undecorated portions. Antique TAME& NAKAMURA Kutani Nippon Hand Painted Teapot w 4 Cup/Saucer Set Up for sale is a gorgeous antique Japanese"NIPPON TN" hand painted teapot. Chocolate or coffee pot with 4 cups and 5 saucers. TN = Tame& Nakamura which I understand is a Kutani maker. The marked is green laurel leaves which, if my research is correct, is approx. 1920s-1940s. The pieces all have matching scenes with Mt. Fuji in the background. There a pagoda, women walking, an arch gate and blossoming trees. The pink flowers on the pieces have raised(satsuma) white dots. The teapot is approx. 8.5" tall to the top of the curled flower petal lid knob. The bottom is approx. 5.25" in diameter. The lid has little flying birds and the top rim of the pot is decorated with flowers. The 4 cups are nearly 3" tall and 2.5" in diameter at ... morethe lip. Just one cup as a 3/4 faint crack that comes down from the lip-it's still very usable. There are 5 saucers(an extra one) pictured in the photo but only 4 are included in this sale-4 cups and 4 saucers. They are approx. 4.75" in diameter. One saucer has a little chip on the underneath side of the lip. It's not visible from the painted side. I purchased this set at an estate auction. Again, it's a lovely set. Please note that my shipping time is up to 5 business days as I have multiple jobs and can only ship one day a week. If you happen to purchase after I return from the post office on shipping day it will be a full week wait until I am able to ship again. Excellent Japan Teapot! Here you have a lovely pottery teapot. Stamped Made in Japan. Features rust and gold trim and yellow/pink flowered design. Base color is cream and glaze is glossy. I do not know the exact maker or age of the piece. It looks quite old to me, based on the design, the glaze, and the look of the Hallmark. Teapot is in Good condition overall. Finish is all intact. Very little wear, there is one crack in the lid(pic 7/8) and the glaze has crazing throughout. Measures approx 11" long spout to handle. 3" wide at the opening and 6 1/2" high including lid. On the other side is a pink dogwood floral pattern and trees. Signed with the artist marks in gold on red. There is a tiny chip on the inside rim as show in the pics. Otherwise very good condition.
