Vintage Tramp Art Wood Toy* Chickens Feeding* This is a truly unique. Vintage toy, handmade of wood. That appears to date from the 1930s or 1940s. It is a little paddle with 5 chickens whose heads bob up and down as they"eat" from the"feed" painted in orange and yellow on the paddle. Each chick is painted white with black feather and wing outlines and red mouths and combs. The movement of the heads is caused by the movement of a lead sinker attached by string to the neck of each chicken and strung through holes in the paddle to the bottom. Lift up the paddle and the heads all raise. Place the paddle down on a surface. And all the heads go down to"eat" There is no maker's mark of any kind on this toy. There is the remainder of some kind of label on the paddle bottom but no identifying marks. I have this toy ... moresetting on 2 egg cups so that you can see the workings. Dalmation Wooden Dog Hand Carved Had Painted Red Bandana Wood Toy Dog
YOU ARE BIDDING On a used hand painted hand carved wooden Dalmatian dog. It has a red bandana tied on it. It is in good condition. It measures approx 7" long at its longest point and approx 6" high at it's highest point. There is few visible scratches but no broken damage to the wood. There is age wear on the paint and wood. The dog is dirty but I did not want to risk loosing paint so I will leave that up to the buyer. There is some chipped paint but nothing major. There are no moving parts and the eyes appear to be made from plastic. There is no date or markings located on the dog that I could see. I have no idea how old it is or where it comes from. Hi again. i have a wonderful old antique toy. it is a figurine of an african lion. about 15 inches long and. 7 inches tall. the lion appears to be all hand carved including the tail. fabulous one of a kind folk art animal. there are breaks in each of his front legs. it will be an easy repair. just some glue in each leg where it attaches to the body and. VOILA. an unseen repair makes ... morethe lion as good as when it was first carved. i only wanted to leave him as i found him. thats what i do on most things. he has a wonderful carved mouth. 4 nails make the teeth. he has his original whiskers. i think the mane is real hair as well. but it might not be. glass eyes in the head. This one is wonderful. and quite ancient. a must for the animal collection NOTE on his chest and between the front legs you can see a bit of wood and 2 old nails. i think a bit of fur is missing from this spot and only from this spot. leo comes from a great old estate auction i attended in indianapolis last week. i got a deal on him. 964. Old” Carved Wood Articulated Black-Faced Monkey Toy w Glass Eyes This charming fellow is unmarked other than a“g” or poorly made“6” or“9” But I believe he was made in Germany after WW1. He measures 8” lying down by about 2 ½” by about 2 ½” He will sit down nicely as he’s designed. The elastic for his arms was replaced a long time ago it seems; I’ve seen this type elastic used on jointed 1930’s toys. He head goes directly into his body on his back so his neck only shows on the front of his body. His black muzzle, indeed his face is stained black& is smooth rather than textured as the rest of his body’s fur is carved. His mouth is just a straight line, but his muzzle shows his nose delineated by 2 grooves which continue up to his forehead where his brow arches& eye sockets are carved out. Tiny glass yellow eyes with black ... morepupils there, while his small cup-shaped ears are on either side about mid-way to the back of his head. His carved arms move freely with his large paws sectioned, detailed with his“fingers” too many it seems to me. Someone has also painted black nails on all his paws also& these“bother” me in that they make me wonder if he’s not as old as I think he is. His legs are pegged at the hips& knees so he can certainly dance. Found with many early 1900s antiques. He’s delightful. ~ ~ ~ We charge actual shipping costs only. With no handling fees. I also found the bottom carrage in the same box, not sure if it even goes with this piece, but it seems like it might, so i included it in the auction. It is probably a toy from Pennsylvania, it was found in Ohio but could be a German made. Condition: Old dry untouched finish. There is one hen missing(in the spot to the left of the lady) and one hen is missing its tail. Antique Whirligig FOLK ART TOY 10" Wood Soldier Carved & Painted 1850-1900?
For sale is a fabulous serendipitous discovery from an estate sale of an Antique Whirligig Wood Folk Art Toy Soldier that stands 10" tall. This Wood Soldier is estimated to have been made between the mid to late 1800's to very early 1900's but its exact age is unknown. It is hand carved and has a small wooden pin that fits through a small hole in the upper torso with which to connect the two arms to the body. The arms do swivel forward and backward individually. Please see pictures for a better visual description. This is a piece of Folk Art that has no accompanying information as is normal with such art. It is in great condition with excellent patina for its age. All of my store items are stored in a clean. Dry, non-smoking, animal-free environment.
