Offered for sale is this exquisite German Black Forest wood carving"Squirrel on tree trunk" The squirrel is grabbing a little animal on its left front claws and the right front claws are grabbing the trunk. The tree trunk is surrounding by some leaves. Tree fern and rocks. The piece has one or two leaves damage and some old worm bites, overall it is in excellent condition for age. No signature and the exact age unknown, probably 1900's or so. The trunk is hollow on top, it size about 2-1/2"in depth. x 2-3/4"in diameter. It can hold a candle inside but this is too good to be a candle holder. The piece measures 6-3/4"H x 7-1/2"W x 6"Deep. The piece is heavy nice wood. Vintage Wood Carving Of German (?) Soldier With Knife -Folk Art
While there are no maker's marks or identifying information on the item. It was removed from a chest of vintage ashtrays, matchbooks and military curios dating from early 1940s to late 1950s. The best guess that I can make is that this was hand carved folk art of a German soldier. The lack of identifying information is why the price is fairly low.

GERMAN HUNTER with GUN + DEER WOOD CARVING
This wonderful wooden figure is a German hunter with his gun over his shoulder. Which has a deer tied at the hooves hung over the butt of the gun. The details are remarkable, such as, the lines in the hunter's face, his mustache and even the nostrils. He wears his hunting jacket, hat and lederhosen. The deer is detailed, as well. There is even a tree stump behind the hunter's right leg. The wood was carved with the grain showing vertical. This piece measures, 7" tall X 3.25" front to back X 3.25" side to side. I cannot find any breaks or chips. I have wiped the carving with baby oil to help preserve the wood. Please, ask any questions you may have, thank you.

Vintage German Black Forest Wood Carving - Spainiard?
This German carving is full of character! The representative culture is difficult to determine; my best guess is Spain. It is hand carved from what appears to be a single piece of wood. The piece has an intriguing natural wood grain. The wood is solid and a heavy 3 lbs. He stands 17" tall and has a width-wise 7" base. There is a"natural appearing" cross-grain wood crack on the base. Behind his right foot(see images) The lantern is intact. The long handled axe appears to have bee taped in its center, to repair a crack or separation. It is a good repair job and the handle is firm. There are s few surface scrapes, which to not affect the integrity of the wood and can be easily removed(see images of back side cape"nape of neck" and left calf" There are not any dings or broken off wood pieces. There is not any ... moreother damage to note. As many of the items I make available are"dated" They are rarely in perfect condition. My claim is to have inspected the item to the best of my ability and note anything I find. Occasionally, a better trained eye can spot things I have missed. Vintage stag carving. This is a very nice wood carved stag that has been intricately carved by a skilled German or Swiss woodcarver. The base measures 14-1/2' wide by 4-1/4' deep and to the highest point of the antlers it stands 13' tall. It is in very good condition but with an age crack on the side of the wooded brush. Original Antique German Bavarian Flute Player Wood Carving.
The carving stands just a hair under 12" tall. It is most definitely hand carved. The detail is crisp and remains clean and undamaged. I counted 15 growth rings in the limb that made up this sculpture. Presumably it was a limb off of a much larger tree. From the density I would guess birch or ash. nbsp Note that at the top of the carving are a pair of antlers. Everything about this piece is in excellent condition.

In German; please scroll through listing to read"a clue to the angel's history. Beautifully carved. The carving is quite tactile. With pleasing symmetry. Movement and vibrancy- the inner feathers look very ruffly and tousled. It is a poetic design. One could say the angel radiates peace and harmony as the outer design is very neat. Symmetrical and circular, yet at her center there is a vibrancy and energy. Perhaps symbolizing her heart or soul. Gilded with gold applied over gesso and bole. Carved from a light-weight finely grained hardwood. Likely linden or lime. This is a frieze. With flat back; ... moreit likely once adorned an altar or other religious structure. As you can see in the photos this angel really shines when brightly lit; the gilding is ever so lovely. It is real gold. There was no synthetic gold in the 1800s. Gesso(plaster) and bole(red pigment clay) were applied over the carved wood to provide a smooth surface for the gold; the bole lends the gold a rich red undertone. Condition- Some age crackling and loss to gilding. Not too bad. Looks wonderful from the front. The back shows some repair. This is a delicate old piece. The wood is very dry and fragile. And parts of the carving are quite thin and fragile as a result. I feel this was removed from its mount at some point. Likely an altar or other religious decor, as I see old adhesive residue on the back. Back shows some glue reinforcement/ repair to damage in two spots. A tassel and the middle swag piece are reattached with glue. Another repair to wing tip is likely original to the time of the carving's creation. The hole and rivet to hang this may have been added later. The only repair that is noticed from the front. And then only under close examination. Is to the left bottom tassle. On the

Antique 19th C German Black Forest Wood Carving Birds Glass Eyes Barometer
We are listing for your consideration a lovey Antique late 19th Century German Black Forest Wood Carved Hanging Barometer with 2 Birds. This piece is in Excellent Condition with a slight break to the top birds beak. It has been glued and is 100% secure, some minimal wear to the wood, and the barometer does not work. The glass front to the barometer is held with 3 screws, 1 is missing. No other issues, we guarantee 100% you will be more than happy with the excellent condition. The piece measures 22 1/4" long x 10 1/2" wide x 2 3/4" deep, the barometer has a diameter of 5 1/4" and the piece weighs approximately 2lb 14oz. The barometer has a lovely porcelain white front and is marked Germany. The birds both have a glass eye and the carving of the wood is very nice with great detail.
