Offered for sale is this vintage European wood hand carved and painted man. The man's hat front edge was chipped off and has minor repair. And his left shoe had been repaired, no other flaws noted. Please see picture# 10 for the hat and#9 for the shoe. Originally the piece does not have wooden base, but I give you a rosewood stand. The carving is 8-1/4"H(9-1/8"H with stand) x3-1/4"W x 2"Depth. The stand is 4" x 3-1/2" x 7/8"H.

I am selling off my mother's estate. This exquisite hand carved wooden statue of a medieval/Renaissance woman has been in my family for years. But I have no idea of its age. I suspect it may have been carved in Southern Germany(Oberammergau) as my mother had several pieces of art in this style. What is particularly lovely is how the artist carved the folds in the woman's dress. The statue stands approximately 9" on a 2.5" square base. Here is a very old Catholic religious saint carved wood figure. I don't recognize the saint off hand. I believe this is a late 18th early 19th century carving. European in origin and more than likely French. I believe the base on this statue is newer than the carving itself. He has very nice patina and wear polish from great age, his backside has a little wear from exposure, but still looks ok. His fingers on his staff hand are also broken, but doesn't stand out real bad. His overall height is approx. 10" Really nice piece, fresh out of an estate.

Offered for sale is this rare European framed hand carved wood bird perching on a tree branch. The piece is signed WALDEMAR. Based on the name I will guess the piece was from Germany or other European country. The finely carved and painted wooden 3D bird perching on a real tree branch. The little bird's feet grab a twig tightly. I can't tell what kind of material to make of these lifelike feet. The background original has blue color, but it is almost totally lost. The blue ground color will bring out the carving for sure. The frame use nice grain wood, it looks like to me. The frame on front painted with gold, but most of the gold has been lost. The piece is in excellent condition except with the paint loss. I would guess this piece was made around mid 20th century. Who is this guy? Simply-crafted. Yet exquisitely rendered, wooden carving 2-3/4" tall. He's wearing a black cap with a red tassle on the end and a tan jacket buttoned on one side. He used to have something in his hand- perhaps a pipe? but he's lost it. His other hand is jauntily in his pocket. His face, though small, is amazingly detailed. Description This is 2 antique carved wood CYCLOPS in fighting position. They are each hand carved wood with their original paint. They measure 11 inches in height. They are each holding wood clubs which appear to be original. There is a little bit of damage to one foot and one hand and there are a few old repairs so they are not perfect. The wood base is a box that opens and will fit the 2 figures perfectly. The box measures 14x6 on bottom and 7 inches in height and is painted faux marble design. The Dog is about 10-1/4" tall and the carving measures about 13-1/4" in length. The Dog seems to be standing against a tree and is standing on wood carved greenery. RARE Vintage Antique Hand Carved European Rocking Horse & Pull Toy Beautiful
I am happy to offer for sale this beautiful Wooden Rocking Horse and Pull toy. When I purchased this at an estate sale I was told it is French in origin and dates to the early 1900's. It looks like it was carved from one piece of wood. I do not see any joints where the horse was put together. This was a great idea when they came up with this horse. First it could be used as a rocking horse when the child was very little and once they had gotten a little older you could take the horse off the rocker and it became a pull toy. This is a beautiful example of great workmanship and attention to detail. I do not see any cracks. Breaks or repairs anywhere on this piece. The colors everywhere on the horse are still vibrant and clear. There are some nicks and scratches but very minimal for something this old that kids would have played on for many ... morehours. I can only find a couple of minor things to mention about condition. I have taken a picture of the horses ears. While it may look like the wood is broken or chipped it is not. There is only some paint loss. Most likely from a child holding on to them as they rode. The last thing is there is some loss of hair on the tail. The dimensions of the entire rocking horse including the rocker 33" long x 28" tall x 9-1/2" wide. The measurements of just the horse are 22-1/2" tall x 22" long x 5-1/2" wide and the dimensions of the rolling skate board the horse is attached to are 25-1/2" long x 8" wide. This is one of the few items I truly considered keeping. It is such a wonderful looking reminder of many days gone by. This could be an heirloom piece that could be passed on for many more generations but in the mean time would make a wonderful display piece. They measure from 2 ¾” to 11” and are all as is. 1) The little accordion player has a nick to his hat. 2) The Scandinavian violin player is missing his bow. 3) The Scandinavian woman should be holding a horn? 4) The man with the tall hat has a side chunk out of his base. 5) The tall woman with the umbrella has a side/back chunk out of her hat. 6) The man with the cane has had his right foot reglued. 7) The smaller woman holding a book has a side chip to her hat. 8) The man with the pipe has lost the front half of his right foot. 9) The large figure has a big front chunk out of his hat and his right leg has a repair. Hand-carved European Red Squirrel with the perky big ears. He sits over a small shell or leaf shaped nut tray bowl. There's a hollow in his back for a nutcracker. But that's long gone. Maybe use him for pencils and candy on your desk? It would show you have taste and know your vintage hand carvings. He is typical of carvings created in Cold War years in the Black Forest region of Germany.
