This ice box has over 20 hand carved pieces on the two front doors, nice detailed lion head carvings and two large paw feet. All of these carvings were hand made by highly skill woodworkers in the 1890's. The columns on the sides are really nice oak rope carvings that are below each lion head and extends down to the top of each paw foot. Underneath the top ledge are unusual oak trim with heart style carvings on all three sides. The bevelled mirror is in great shape, no chips, scratches or hazeThis ice box is solid oak and has never been painted before. A lot of the ice boxes that you see listed were painted before and when finished, they have a washed out appearance from the paint still present in the grain of the wood. This ice box has a beautiful smooth finish and a rich color to it. You will not be disappointed one bit with this item. Circa 1900 Mahogany Green leather inlaid steps Sturdy and strong Minor surface wear, Here is a very hard to find set of antique library steps. These steps were made in England sometime around 1900 and we have recently imported them into our Atlanta. GA antique furniture store. Library steps like this were designed to allow someone to reach the top shelves of the bookcases in their libraries. Some are simple but others like this one are more decorative and add elegance as well as utility to the room they inhabit. The wood used is solid mahogany and the stairs themselves are covered in a green leather with gold tooling. A mahogany pole is central to the steps allowing one a place to use their left hand to keep balance while perusing books with the right. This pole is topped with a decorative brass cap. These antique library steps are in very good condition. The only wear is some superficial surface wear to the stairs as you can see in the photos. Structurally the steps are sound. At 180 pounds I am able to climb to the top stair and feel very stable. This is a very unusual find and would make a really interesting addition to any room with tall bookcases. These antique library steps are sturdy and beautiful. The four stairs spiral around the balance pole. Here you can see some of the minor surface wear to each step. The mahogany feet are quite sturdy. Each step is covered in gorgeous green leather. A beautiful and interesting addition to any home or office. The turned mahogany balance pole is capped with a brass top. Have Questions? The doors have glass to the top, giving good visibility to books or precious treasures.The lower closed sections of the doors have beautifully carved central panels, the deep carving featuring vases, flowers and foliage. The interior has four(4) fully adjustable shelves, as well as the base of the cabinet, and more shelving could be added for greater storage. There are also two drawers to the base, again with tasteful carving and fittings. Whilst there is a key in the lock, the lock is not working and the key is used only for ease of opening the door. The piece sits on squat bun feet. This gorgeous piece is 209.5cm in height. 152cm at the widest point across the pelmet which extends far wider than the body of the bookcase, which measures approximately 130cm. The cabinet is 47cm deep, but the pelmet is 59.5cm deep.The internal shelf depth is 37cm. This piece is in lovely antique condition. Made from solid oak this lovely piece is hugely multi-functional and will work in any room you need storage in. A single door armoire with turned and reeded column supports to either ... moreside of the mirror door. There is a drawer underneath with a slide to keep out dust. And four(4) adjustable shelves inside with another drawer under one of the shelves. The finish is original and a good mid-brown colour with a lovely mellow patina which has developed over many years of loving use. There is a twin bolt lock which is still operable. This is a tall armoire with a height of 226cm(just under 8 foot) and is 107cm in width. The armoire is 57cm deep. The interior shelves each measure 96cm in length and are 38cm deep. This armoire is in good condition and the only issue is some spotting to the mirror. Which is so"in" today. It is possible that the back of the mirror has been replaced at some stage during its lifetime of approximately 115 years. However, age-appropriate wear and character marks should be expected. Armoires such as this prove to be extremely functional and useful for today's living. Blending well with most interiors. The lucky buyer will be extremely pleased. The two drawers are also curved with carving that matches the top pediment. The upper section. With two glass panels in the doors is narrower than the base, and supported by turned carved supports. This French Oak 2 Height Cabinet has been well loved and used constantly, thus accounting for the lovely glow from the aged patina. This cabinet offers good storage having a central shelf to the base and also the the upper section. With an open area for display on the top of the lower section. The two pieces are detachable for ease of transport. There are no major condition issues. However. There are some small details to consider, such as some staining and marks to the top of the lower cabinet. The hardware on the drawers has been replaced and one of the escutcheon panels is missing from the top door. As the photos indicate there are some missing pieces to the turned supports. It has two curved-front drawers above two panelled doors with ... moreelaborate carving. The doors open to reveal a large storage area, with a central fixed shelf. The doors of the cabinet are flanked by turned columns, surmounted by lion's heads. I imagine there would originally have been large metal loops in the lions' mouths, easily replaced if desired. The cupboard retains it's original handles and locks, and stands on squat bun feet. The cupboard measures 120cm wide. 55.5cm deep and 105cm high. It has many practical purposes, but wouldst certainly be ideal in size and height as a television cabinet or stand. The piece is in lovely vintage condition.
