The band itself does possess some intricate elaborations, running from where the bands meet the bezel perhaps 40% of the way toward the back of the band. It was typical of the era for the bands to be heavily decorated around the entire circumference; so by relative standards, this is certainly understated, and much more toward typical modern taste. There is very little wear distinguishable with respect to both the bands and the bezel skirt. Although there are clear signs that the ring was worn on occasion. It almost seems as if someone

The ring bears a very elaborate pattern all the way around the band which is entirely extant except that it is moderately worn, especially at the sides of the bands just below the trio of accent stones. It appears likely that this ring was worn next to other rings on adjacent fingers, and so there is a little extra wear to the bands where the rings would have contacted on another. Wearing rings on many fingers, even adjacent fingers, even multiple rings on the same finger, is a Byzantine/Eastern European tradition which can be traced all the way back two thousand years to ancient Rome. The metalwork around the bezel skirt evidences just a little wear, but you have to look closely to see any wear. The ring was certainly designed to be worn by a man. And is bold and handsome enough to be worn by a man today. However the design is elaborate, elegant, and intricate enough to be worn with good taste by a woman as well. Although there are unmistakable indications of wear, they are very extremely light. One has to look under high magnification to see more than one or two distinct signs of wear. Although assuredly the ring was worn at some time in the past, it was only on occasion, and infrequently at that. Such alloys would regularly be used by artisans and craftsmen alike, during and after the medieval period. High-quality formed glass stones. Such as the example on this ring, were among the most prev
