Very Unique Antique American Cedar& Brass Chest with Ornate Brass Trim This is a beautiful vintage American cedar box. Dove tail design. Also has a small heart shaped lock. There is an ornate brass handle on two sides. The fancy Brass bands on the lid are marked with a Daisy at the Center on each band. The metal work seems to be a combination of brass. Brass plating and some metal that might have a plated or painted finish. The cedar has a very nice color and finish, there a few marks from age or bumps to it, but overall excellent for it's age and you only see them upon careful inspection. The inside is not lined with paper or fabric. On the bottom. There are four small"feet" at the corners. Has small initials NH on center of lid. Previous owner maybe. Beautifully designed. This box is 9 5/8 inches accros the top and 5 1/2 inches deep and 4 inches tall with the lid closed. There are no markings to indicate its brand or age, although the hinges may be mid century or earlier. It's a unique box for your business cards, small notepads, treasures, jewelry, recipes, standing out on a shelf or desk. Wood knots and grain give the box a unique appearance. As well as the carved wood feet and side handles. A clear lucite handle on the front for lifting the lid. The cedar does not smell much. Cosmetics, gloves or handkerchiefs. Well made little box with Thomas Kincaid-like cottage scene lithograph in front. Sealed into the wood. Wood is ornately carved, just beautiful. Cedar-type possibly pine wood little chest. Has pretty grain, texture and wood knots, it smells good inside, COOL etched and frosted glass vintage mirror inside. Sliding hinge hardware keeps box open. Box is in terrific condition. Inside very clean, mirror has some silvering and signs of age. Lot of two Lane Cedar Chest Salesman Sample Wooden Trinket Jewelry hope 1 rare!
Up for auction is a lot of two vintage Lane salesman sample small cedar chest. One is very old which was given out to the students who graduated at West Plains High School in Missouri. They were given out by The Butler Furniture Company as a gift. This store was located in Mountain Home. Arkansas. This box is very scare and has the original Lane label on the bottom although, some of it is torn off. There is a spot on the bottom where sap has leaked out of the wood which was part of a naturally drying process if it was not completely dried in the kiln. There are some scratches to be expected with age however, the condition is very good. There is no key. The second box is newer(I think) and I do not know the history other than it is a salesman sample from the ABC furniture company in West Plains, Missouri. At one point, the hinge was broken ... moreand it looks like someone tried to repair the hinge. The bottom pegs are missing. This one also has general wear which is commensurate with age. Both boxes are just a bit different in size. These are excellent for the collector especially with the first one being so scarce. Remember, there are no keys, but you can have keys made. I have up for auction. A small cedar chest/box. I attained it from a older gentleman who was thinning out his belongings. He was unable to give me much information. It is solid cedar and measures 9 1/4"X 6"X 4" I looks to either be a jewelry box or perhaps a vintage tobacco/cigar storage box. It is in good condition. One of the hinges looks to have some slight damage on the inside of the box, but it functions perfectly. Also, there is a small split in the decorative picture on the top of the box. It is just in the picture material, not the wood. Both imperfections are pictured. The wood grain on this box is absolutely beautiful, the pictures do not do it justice. Happy Bidding!

Antique Carved cedar Wood Box With Lithograph of a Cottage on Lid. Decorative Mirror Inside This antique wooden Box is in very good to excellent condition. It features a quaint looking lithograph of a small cottage nestled in amongst shrubbery and trees. The carving itself is gorgeous.bearing resemblance to a Fleur de lis style design. This carving is found both on the top lid as well as the front panel of the box. The sides and back. Bottom of box are not carved. It also features 4 feet on the bottom. And also 2 carved rectangular handles. The box itself is tongue and grooved. The lid is slightly rounded. And Inside the lid there is a mirror that is decorated with a white border of what appears to be Rose buds, with 2 Roses in the top center. The mirror itself is accented with a gold decorative foil type paper that is scalloped around the ... moreedges. This paper appears to be in very good condition and intact. It features a small catch style latch on the front that is brass plated. A small amount of the plating has worn off. The lid is hinged. And in good working condition.
