Here is a wonderful solid mahogany bookcase with mother of pearl inlay along with satin wood. It is a triple bookcase with the two outer sections having flat panel glass and the center of attention focusing on the middle curved section. This section also has an incredible inlay in the bottom locking door and a beautiful claw foot. The back fancy board is still intact which adds so much to this case. It dates to the late 1890-1910 era and has its original finish which is outstanding. A good cleaning is all this beauty needs. I also have the original key attached to a silk gold material. All glass is original wavy glass which shows its true age. Again this is solid mahogany not a veneer. Inner shelves are adjustable. The bookcase measures 69 inches tall by 60 inches wide and is 16 inches deep at the curved glass and 14 at the ends. One of the glass fronts is paneled and made up of an original stained glass accented in green and pink hues. The clear glass door opens up and reveals two adjustable glass shelves. There are several arches that follow through the piece found at the top center and on the two glass fronts. The sides are intricately carved and paneled. The top center arch is adorned with a tin hand hammered detail as well as the drawer fronts. The brass hardware is original to the piece, there is one handle missing on the large drawer, which can be replaced. The tapered legs are accented with a bracket piece that join the two nicely. We are pleased to offer this great Victorian bookcase. The maker of this is unknown to us. This is not a reproduction. The bookcase has been refinished and restored with a new back and two shelfs. It was finished in a honey color. This is made from either maple or cherry under the stain. This has carved designs above the glass panels on the doors. The top has a broken scroll style pediment backsplash with carved and applied acanthus leaf design. The doors have their original wavy glass and the original key as well. This is a really nice quartersawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. This piece was manufactured by the GLOBE WERNICKE Company of Cincinnati. They were competitors of Macey and others. Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. Rare form carved quartered oak barrister bookcase with desk leaded glass-14489
This is a great carved quartered oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. This outstanding stacking desk bookcase is one of the nicest we have ever seen. It has leaded glass windows in the top two sections below the molded top. The carved fall board has a key that opens or locks the desk section. Inside are two strong desk lid supports and a nice set of pigeon holes with a single pencil drawer-fitted interior. The desk section sits above two full width drawers. The top drawer is shaped to fit the curve. The second drawer is carved to accent the fall board. Both drawers have original brass handles. The lowest section is an extra tall one with a"blind" door or wood paneled door to prevent breakage from feet. The entire piece sits on a molded base section. This side by side has a drop front secretary on one side and a glass door bookcase on the other. There is a bevel mirror at the top of the secretary side. Just below it sits a lamp shelf. When an oil lamp was placed there the mirror would reflect to illuminate a larger area. The mirror appears to be the original; it has some dark spots and discolored areas. There are applied scroll moldings around the mirror and ... morethe moldings on the top of the bookcase side match. The lamp shelf has a ring stain on it as well as some marks and a little discoloration, typical of a piece this old. One of the moldings on the bookcase side is split. The finish is matte and smooth. The feet are carved paw and clay style. The shelves in the bookcase have been replaced with 5 glass shelves that are adjustable. Just below the drop front desk is a drawer and then a door with a lock. I do have the key. This door has a small piece of veneer missing just below the knob in the keyhole area. I do not know the maker or exact date this was made. It is antique and will not be perfect. Measurements are: 72 1/8 inches tall, 38 7/8 inches side to side and 12 7/8 inches front to back. This is an exceptional great walnut bookcase in original finish. This double door bookcase has raised beveled panels and shaped windows in the frames. The crest has a nice turned finial with fine carving. This wonderful crest will come off when moving. The drawers have dovetailed joints. The shelves are trimmed with walnut the secondary wood is a pine. Definitely made in the American Victorian Renaissance Style or the Circa 1870's. This cabinet measures a 119" Height, the base is 63" width, the top is 66" wide, 23" Depth, the inside is 10" depth. The shelves are adjustable. Nebraska residents pay 7% sales tax.
