Antique Japanese Inlaid. Lacquer and Painted Raised Wood Panel. Carved wood raised panel. 19.5" long x 5 and 3/8" wide. Decorated with branches. Leaves and flowers and an inlaid bird made of wood and bone? Three of the flower blossoms are also carved inlaid wood. The border is panted gray-green and trimmed with gold and decorated with delicate gold scroll work. Copper wire hanger on the back. Very nice original condition. A little age darkening in spots to the natural wood raised panel and a touch of edge wear. No chips, cracks, losses or damage. Vintage carved wooden panel. Oak with pine board backing. Came from a church in France but unsure of it's original purpose as it has two round wooden columns attached on the bottom. Quite heavy and solid build no signs of woodworm. the top has a couple of screw holes where some fittings were attached. The frame measures 12-1/8" x 5-3/8" x 3/8"thickness and the inside panel is 10-5/8" x 3-3/4" It is heavy for its size, it weighs 11.6 oz(329 gm) The carved inlaid wood seems boxwood.Don't know what kind of wood to made of the frame and inside panel, both have beautiful grain. The white carving seems like bone or other material. Beautiful Chinese Decorative Panel Made of Hand-Carved Wood, Dating from the 19th Century Antique Chinese decorative panel made of hand-carved wood in the 19th century. This piece is in very good condition and was made of two different woods: a better-quality one for the panel and another kind of wood for the back reinforces and the frame. This is a very antique and valuable piece. And the carving which decorates it is a nice example of subtleness and skill. The panel has been restored and now it shows no cracks or broken parts. And if we turn it, in the back we will discover a number of original restorations, some of them really old. The front is decorated with bas-relief carvings, and the decoration is divided into two parts: one on the top half and the other just below. Both scenes are framed by a carved fringe with a typical oriental ... morepattern. The upper scene depicts an imperial dragon framed by a bamboo circle. The animal is flying over a landscape and is surrounded by clouds. Around the bamboo circle, four bats(another sacred animal in Chinese mythology) occupy the four corners with their open wings. The dragon is carved in detail, from the long moustaches to its wavy body’s scales and the four fingers of each claw. Just under this image we can see another sacred Chinese animal: a lion. It is a Buddhist lion. Also known as“Foo dog” though it is actually a lion. The smiling animal is standing in a nice landscape, surrounded by sharp-pointed rocks and under the shadow of a tree. In this case, the fringe which frames the scene(also simulating bamboo) is square-shaped, creating a dynamic contrast with the upper circle. In spite of the frame’s slight scratches and the restorations, the panel is in great condition. The beauty of the carving work and its ancient age make of it a unique piece. 100% original and valuable, perfect for the home or collection of any valuable lover of Eastern antiques. The panel has a wide rim and then has three trim levels leading up to the panel center. The center scene, painted in gold against a black background, depicts trees, rocks and planters in a garden just inside a yard fence. The trim is lacquered in gold, burgandy and gold speckled over burgundy. The back is clear lacquered. Based on the design and production techniques I would place the production of this panel in the 1880s-1890s. The panel exhibits wear and termite damage but gives the piece a lot of character and the demeanor expected on a piece this old. This was for a higher quality bed and a nice piece. Available here is an antique wall panel made of an exotic cut of mahogany or possibly rosewood. This is SOLID wood. Not veneer! This kind of thing is just not available anymore. This listing is for one panel. Although we have five of these available and would welcome making a deal for all. We also have nine accent panels that are approximately 12" x 66" if a buyer is interested in them all. These would be perfect wall panels for a library. Study or bar. The size is about 28" by 66" from molding to molding. That does not include the support pieces which are outside of the molding. I don't believe the framing wood to be mahogany/rosewood. A friend purchased it at a Florida estate sale many years ago. Subsequently we acquired for display. The measurements are approximately 2' by 1' The wood plank is heavy and I believe that it is teak. This 3 dimensional carving is quite old and was hanging on the wall of a Florida room located on a Home fronting Lake Georgia in Orlando. Florida decorated with Indonesian artifacts for many years before being sold at the estate sale. The panel has handling marks. Scratches, paint chips and some ... morespecks of paint where the previous owners might have been painting a wall nearby. The panel is in its original condition and in my opinion and considering its age, in good condition. The plank was hand cut and is not perfectly rectangular as you might expect from a reproduction. It is slightly warped from age. The panel is approximately one inch thick, however, thickness varies from one end to another and there is a dust build up in some of the nooks and crannies that we couldn't get to with a brush. Antique doors salvaged from old homes in Northeastern Ohio. The doors are made of solid heartpine, and have 5 raised panels on both sides. Please note that heartpine is the non-living. Core of a pine tree, and not the soft, outer, living sap-wood. Since it takes 30 years for a pine tree just to develop just 1” of heart stock it is rarer. Harder, more durable, more insect& rot resistant, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and is much more valuable than the ... morecheap, pine lumber that is commonly found at most hardware stores. Hardware: The doors are not equipped with any hardware. However. There was also a 1/4" strip of wood added to the hinge stile. The bottom panel has a diagonal crack stemming from the bottom corner of the panel. There are also nail holes and chips here and there(see close up photos) On the interior side of the door. The tops of the lock and hinge stiles, top rail, 2nd to top rail, edges of the lock and hinge stiles, middle and bottom panels and the entire lock stile are all chipped; and there is a crack and a loose piece of wood on the bottom of the hinge stile. It is a Large Japanese Panel or Screen that measures 36" tall by 13" wide by 5/8" thick. This is an amazing looking item with what appears to be Jade cut and placed in a Japanese design throughout this wood backing. It is a WOW item that would command a center of attention in any room that it is placed. I am not certain that this item is made of various colored Jade however when it is touched it is cold. My opinion states that this is cut Jade. This is only my opinion however. I believe that this screen was part of a larger screen which I will be posting other parts of shortly. The door is made of solid, old pine and is painted on both sides. If you think that pine is a weak. Soft wood; please keep in mind that the wood milled from modern pine trees, which only grow for a few decades before they are cut down, is not the same quality as the wood that was milled by our forefathers from trees that were hundreds of years old. This door was built using the wood from mature pine trees, and exhibits the qualities of wood that has endured the test of time. As a result, it's physically harder, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and more insect and rot resistant than today's pine lumber. The door has a rare design featuring 4 recessed ... morepanels: 1 square panel on top and 3 long. Vertical panels below. Notice that there is no molding around the inner edges of the panels-shaker style! Hardware: Although the photos show some hardware installed; the door doesn't come equipped with any hardware. However. We have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the door(check out our eBay store) If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with a solid wood. Please email us for a quote. Condition: The inner corner of the lock stile is slightly separated from the bottom rail. There is also a strip of wood sticking out(see photo) The 2 cross pieces are not loose. AN OAK VENEER COVERS THE SURFACE AND PARTS OF IT HAVE BEEN REGLUED;A LITTLE VENEER REMAINS TO BE REGLUED. THE DECORATIVE AREAS ARE CONSTRUCTED WITH A MANMADE MATERIAL INTO SCENES OF OAK LEAVES. ACORNS AND RIBBONS-THERE IS MUCH CRACKING THROUGHOUT THE MOLDINGS-VERY ANTIQUE LOOKING. Good Front Wood and Glass Panel from RCA model 8TS30 1948 Television
I presently have the 10BP4 CRT listed from this set. The cabinet was pretty well ruined. But I did manage to save the front panel from this 8TS30 TV. I still have the chassis as well. As you can see, the panel is marred, but decent. Glass is nice and all wood is solid and good, including mahogany veneer and RCA gold letters. I will bubble wrap to protect the glass before shipping. The line in the first picture you see in the glass is not the glass. Behind the glass is the actual CRT mask. This particular model has a mask made from wood and then gold painted. What you see is the seams in this wooden mask. Besides restoring the outer mahogany wood. You will need to disassemble this unit and repaint the gold mask, This can be accomplished easily, as it is held together with simple wood screws. I also have the two screws which held this front ... morepiece to the cabinet. I will include those when I send this unit. The wood tongue which goes into the rabbit at the bottom edge of the item is perfect as well. For those uninitiated, the front panel is designed to be removed because that is the only way to service the CRT and chassis.
