These have been lightly washed but would clean up more if needed. Old white over a yellowish putty color paint. Old growth pine with tight grain. No splits. Ends are original old cuts and unpainted. For your Consideration: Antique/Vintage stair balusters 17 units in all. 2 different lengths. You are buying one at a time 12 pieces around 30 1/8 inches from the bottom of the square section to the upper tip. 5 pieces around 26 1/2 inches from the bottom of the square section to the upper tip. Bottom Square Section Measures 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" wide x 2 1/4"H One unit has a piece of wood missing.see picture. I am not a wood expert. But these appear to be made of mahogany. I would date these around 1875 or so.machine made. The fluting is concave. And is also tapered.a really nice shape. There is some paint.one coat on a few. Antique Vintage Hard Wood Balusters Stair Staircase Spindles Lot of 26 This is a lot of 26 hardwood antique stair balusters removed from a building in PA. I am also listing two newel posts that were removed from the same staircase. You can see them in my other auctions. There are 3 balusters that have flat bottoms as opposed to the slanted ones that were going up the staircase. They measure 30 5/8' There are 13 balusters with the slanted bottoms(shown in the middle) They measure 30¼' There are 10 slanted bottom ones(shown on the right) that measure 26 3/4' The'turned area' on ALL of the spindles measures 18' The tops are 1 3/4" square. Two of the flat ones have a piece gone at the tops from being removed from the railing. I have taken a photo of that section to show the wood grain so that it could possible ... morebe identified. These balusters are heavy and the grains are close together unlike a pine. The wood is not soft. These are dusty(I have not cleaned them) and a few have nails. Antique Tiger oak wood Balusters hand rails mortise newel posts large pieces old
I have some very nice pieces that I took out of one of my houses before it was demolished. I took all the parts for a staircase. Everything that you need except the steps. There are 2 Newel posts, the housed and open stringer(very thick) all the shaped, not square ballusters and all the handrails, even the trim that goes in between the ballusters. These all have white paint over them. But can easily be restored. I have restored many of my own items, and I know how beautiful these stairs will look. They would cost a fortune to find a solid piece of oak this large! I also have tons of door and window trim, and doors too. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like more pictures and measurements. The pictures of the refinished stairs are not the items that I have. But look similar if they were restored. New INFO: Large Newel Post ... moreis 56.25" tall and 6" wide at base and 7.5" wide at top. The top has leaves carved into the oak. Look closely through the paint. Lots of detail and is in great shape. Smaller Newel Post is 38" tall and 4.75" wide. And is more of a basic design(came from the same staircase though) There are 22 angle shaped balusters spindles(for the stairs) 25" x 1 5/8. 22 flat end balusters spindles(for the top of stairs down the hallway) 26" x 1.75" Hand Rail is 136" long and is 2.5"x 5" Smaller Hand Rail is 8' long with 2 end pieces that are 6.25" long. Closed Skirt Stringer 99.5 x 8.25 x 7/8. Open Stringer 143" x 11.25 x 1. I also have a bad full of the trim pieces that go between the balusters. And some other trim pieces that came off of the stairs.

25 Antique Flat Wood Porch Railing Balusters Restore Architectural Salvage
This Buy It Now auction features flat wooden balusters removed from a 19th century house in Mathews County. VA. This listing is for 25 balusters, with free shipping. While the balusters came from the same front porch railing, they are not absolutely uniform in size as they were hand made. They range in length from 23 1/2" to 23 3/4" and are approximately 4 11/16" to 4 7/8" wide at the ends. They range from 13/16" to just under an inch thick and weigh about 1 1/2 lbs. each. Four of the balusters have a smaller(1 1/4" cutout in the center. The rest of the balusters have cutouts that measure 1 5/8" Please let me know if you have a preference. 36 beautiful turned wood spindles/ balusters salvaged from an antique staircase. I believe they are oak. They are about 25" tall and cut on an angle. The square bases measure 1 3/4" There is one baluster that is taller(see photos. Baluster shown at left side of lot) They have a light grey painted/ pickle finish but much of the wood grain does show through. They are in great shape, can be sanded and stained or left as is! We believe these to be made of oak. But we are not experts. They are a salvage item from an 1800s farmhouse stairway; some have nails in them and there is some remaining paint on them. Some have slight cracks in terms of the ends. But the basic units appear to be intact. Sold as is. See photographs. Square tops and bottoms measure inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter.

Penn Antique Restoration. Set of 24 Vintage Heartpine Staircase Spindles. Lovely spindles salvaged from an old home in Northwestern Ohio. Each spindle is made of heartpine. And has squared ends with turnings in between. All are finished with a clear coat of lacquer. All of the spindles are in great shape with only the minor nicks and light scratches that you would expect to find on old. Architectural pieces. However, there are no breaks, cracks, or gouges. Two broken corbel brackets, and some extra pieces. The balusters are 15.5" tall. 8.5" wide, and 1" thick. The corbels are about 14" tall and 12" wide. My eBay name says it all.liquidators. I was an eBay seller back in 2000 and I sold to meet a financial goal. Life has a way of taking over such that when my goal was hit my inventory just sat in storage. Well. I have to admit not only did it sit but over the years I have added to it. Due to my fiancé in all likelihood having to move overseas due to work in 2015 and me tagging along I HAVE TO liquidate my inventory. And yes, I have that much that I need to start now. So, I will be listing an item auction style and if within a certain time frame it is not sold it is going to a consignment auction house. So, if you like it, get it while the getting is good. My prices will be rock bottom due to the amount of items which need to be sold. I really am trying to liquidate my inventory but I have to admit my true passion is architectural salvage ... morework. Two are 31" and the other two are 27" This does not include the portion at the bottom which would be in the base of the stair. They are in great condition and just show minor wear. 2 Wood Balusters from The Salt Box and Castle Los Angeles Bunker Hill 1880s
I rode Angel’s Flight in Los Angeles as a kid and witness the dismantling of Bunker Hill. Including the moving of the Saltbox and the Castle. I have had in my possession for many years 2 balusters; one from each of those buildings. FROM WIKIPEDIA The Salt Box was a house built in the 1880s in the Bunker Hill section of Los Angeles, California. Designed in the saltbox style that was popularized in New England, it was originally located at 339 South Bunker Hill Avenue. In the late 19th century, Bunker Hill was one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in Los Angeles and was the site of many elegant Victorian homes. The Los Angeles Times wrote of old Bunker Hill: Nowhere else in Los Angeles was the architecture so ornate. The mansions were wooden-frame Victorian with Gothic gingerbread touches applied with a heavy hand to simulate masonry. Though ... morenot as elegant as many of its Victorian neighbors, the Salt Box was"cherished by architecture students for the simplicity of its design. In the 1950s, the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency adopted a redevelopment plan for the Bunker Hill area. In the early 1960s, historic preservationists began efforts to preserve the Salt Box and another Bunker Hill mansion, known as the Castle. When the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Board was formed in August 1962, the Salt Box was one of the first structures designated as a Historic Cultural Monument(HCM#5) on the Board's first day of business. The Castle received historic designation in May 1964, becoming Historic Cultural Monument#27. For several years after the Salt Box received historic designation, efforts continued to find a way to save the structure while still making room for redevelopment. By 1968, all of the Victorian homes of Bunker Hill Avenue had been demolished, except for the Salt Box and a second home, called the Castle.
