Up for auction is a(lot of 6) antique wooden stair balusters in excellent condition. They are solid with no rot but do have crackled layers of white paint and some nicks. Also there are nail holes in the ends(see photo#6) They are 18" in length and the square ends are 1 7/8" x 1 7/8" I have 20 of these available so if anyone would like to purchase more than 6. They all were set in a square opening at one time. They have square tops and bottoms, with turned areas in between, and the finial is separate. Some of the finials are loose, could be glued on. They were once stained and varnished, show some wear from use and storage, not bad and could be used as is, or easily be stripped and refinished or painted. Not sure of the type of wood, maybe pine. Each is 28.5" long, including the finial, the square areas are 1 3/4" A fun set for upcycling and crafts. Please ask any questions before bidding to insure satisfaction with the items. For your Consideration: Antique/Vintage stair balusters 17 units in all. 2 different lengths. You are buying one at a time 12 pieces around 30 1/8 inches from the bottom of the square section to the upper tip. 5 pieces around 26 1/2 inches from the bottom of the square section to the upper tip. Bottom Square Section Measures 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" wide x 2 1/4"H One unit has a piece of wood missing.see picture. I am not a wood expert. But these appear to be made of mahogany. I would date these around 1875 or so.machine made. The fluting is concave. And is also tapered.a really nice shape. There is some paint.one coat on a few. Purchased out of a barn behind the house that was holding an estate sale. You are bidding on 10 vintage baluster stair spindles. The contents of the house were being sold by the children of the family that lived there and they have no idea how the stair spindles got in the barn, how they were used or how old they are. As a result I can’t tell you much about them. If you look at the pictures you’ll get a good idea of the condition. I can tell you that there are 10 pieces all together. Eight of the pieces measure 22” long and two have been cut down to 21” in length. Of the two that were cut down. Both ends are in good condition. Of the 8 that are 22” long, one end on three of them shows some damage, which might be why two were cut down. Otherwise they are in nice shabby chic condition. Antique Vintage Hard Wood Balusters Stair Staircase Spindles Lot of 26 This is a lot of 26 hardwood antique stair balusters removed from a building in PA. I am also listing two newel posts that were removed from the same staircase. You can see them in my other auctions. There are 3 balusters that have flat bottoms as opposed to the slanted ones that were going up the staircase. They measure 30 5/8' There are 13 balusters with the slanted bottoms(shown in the middle) They measure 30¼' There are 10 slanted bottom ones(shown on the right) that measure 26 3/4' The'turned area' on ALL of the spindles measures 18' The tops are 1 3/4" square. Two of the flat ones have a piece gone at the tops from being removed from the railing. I have taken a photo of that section to show the wood grain so that it could possible ... morebe identified. These balusters are heavy and the grains are close together unlike a pine. The wood is not soft. These are dusty(I have not cleaned them) and a few have nails. We believe these to be made of oak. But we are not experts. They are a salvage item from an 1800s farmhouse stairway; some have nails in them and there is some remaining paint on them. Some have slight cracks in terms of the ends. But the basic units appear to be intact. Sold as is. See photographs. Square tops and bottoms measure inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter.

Penn Antique Restoration. Set of 24 Vintage Heartpine Staircase Spindles. Lovely spindles salvaged from an old home in Northwestern Ohio. Each spindle is made of heartpine. And has squared ends with turnings in between. All are finished with a clear coat of lacquer. All of the spindles are in great shape with only the minor nicks and light scratches that you would expect to find on old. Architectural pieces. However, there are no breaks, cracks, or gouges. antique victorian or earlier baluster banister& spindles. salvage from an old house. not walnut not cherry. it is the color old cherry would be so it is probably poplar.
