Vintage double porch railing/room divider measuring approximately 36 5/8" T x 7"W with varying measurements across(depth) ranging from 1 3/4" x 2 1/4" Spindles(x2) feature a beautiful rib-like design and are in fairly good vintage condition with a long crack going down one side(see pics) vintage paint/stain loss, vintage stray marks, scratches, etc. PLEASE use pictures to assist you in determining condition as will be SOLD AS IS. Antique Victorian Porch Balustrades Balusters Railing 24" High & 3" wide 1900
Up for sale are antique victorian stype Balustrade from a mansion built in Bath Maine around 1900. It was built by Honory Albert H. Shaw. In 1936 the home was sold after the death of Albert Shaw and became the Sedgwick Inn. The hotel was named after Sedgwick Place. The junction of High St. Centre and Court streets which contained a soldiers momument built to honro Cival War veterans of the Sedgwick Post, Grand Army of the Republic. The post was named after Gen John Sedgwick, the highest ranking officer killed in the war. It burned down in 1973. Information on the mansion was that the front 2 level porch was build of ash. These balusters might also be built of ash- the actual wood used is not known. These balustrade were said to have been salavaged from that building and were later used on another porch. These were acquired by a family member ... morewhen the porch was rebuilt. There are about 30 of these balustrades available for sale and pick up in Wiscasset. Maine 04578. They measure 24" high and are 3" square at the top and base. The condition is good considering the age. There are some chips and gouges and in some area the paint is pealing. I do have pictures of the Inn that does show the these railings. I also have the full history of the family who build the mansion and the history of the property over the years. I can provide this information to any interested buyer. We would be willing to ship a small quantity of say 2 to 4 at an additional cost to cover the shipping. I understand that these are popular as candle holders. This would be great for a porch restoration or even used in a garden back drop. Has lots of potential! Antique 21" Tall solid wood 1880's porch baluster railing spindles white paint
Hi this auction is for ONE antique spindle/baluster. I have 15 to list. And I will combine. Please wait for an invoice if buying more that one.I will ship the best and most economical way. Listed is a nice. Circa 1880's, antique wood porch baluster, or railing piece. These balusters have many uses. The pieces are all the same, but if you turn them on different sides, you can achieve a different look. The approx size of each is: 21" tall, almost 3.5"one one bottom side, and 3 1/8" on the other side. Please keep in mind( if you order more than one) that the length might differ super slightly. you might have to trim one end to have the exact size. Also please keep in mind that these were torn off of a porch and there could be damage and wood loss on the bottoms. Please see photos. The paint is a white shade, slight to no chippy ... morepatina. Antique Vintage Victorian Wood Architectural Porch Railing Balustrade Fence 114"
This auction is for one(1) antique vintage victorian wooden architectural porch spindled fence rail balustrade. It was removed from our 1896 Victorian home as part of a remodeling project. I have no idea in what year this particular porch balustrade was installed on the house. Meaning no way for me to know whether it was an original or a replacement somewhere down the line. I only know the year the house was built, and that the rails were here when we bought it. It is 114 inches long. The top and bottom rails that are held together by the balusters are 3.5" wide. There are 14 spindles that make up the balustrade, with 6 13/16" gaps between each one. The squared-off portions of each spindle are 1 3/8" x 1 3/8" Each spindle/baluster is 26.5" tall. From the top of the top rail to the bottom of the bottom rail, the height ... moreof this piece is 29.5" I've also included pictures of the house when it was still installed before we removed it. If interested, I will also be listing another very similar balustrade from a different area of our house, as well as 2 separate corner post columns(one of which is visible in the pictures in this listing) and a series of seven(7) matching exterior corbels. This Buy It Now auction features flat wooden balusters removed from a 19th century house in Mathews County. VA. This listing is for 25 balusters, with free shipping. While the balusters came from the same front porch railing, they are not absolutely uniform in size as they were hand made. They range in length from 23 1/2" to 23 3/4" and are approximately 4 11/16" to 4 7/8" wide at the ends. They range from 13/16" to just under an inch thick and weigh about 1 1/2 lbs. each. Four of the balusters have a smaller(1 1/4" cutout in the center. The rest of the balusters have cutouts that measure 1 5/8" Please let me know if you have a preference. Lot of 4+ Victorian Baluster Porch Spindles Wood 21x1.75" Turnings Railing Vntg.
This sale includes 4 wooden(stained) Victorian spindles. Balusters, railing pieces as well as a cut-off railing piece. The short piece is 18 1/8" x 1 3/4" square. The other pieces are cut at a slant on each end and measure 21 3/4" at the point and 21 1/2" on the slant side x 1 3/4" square. They are in good vintage condition with some nail holes from where they had been affixed to the rest of the porch. Some chips; it looks like these had been stained but some of that has been worn off. Although the pictures might appear to be duplicates, I believe I took pictures of all 4 sides so you could get a handle on their overall condition. I will be listing other balusters as well. I recently salvaged this railing from my boyhood home just before it was demolished. The house was built in 1923. And my Dad kept the railings(and everything else) in good repair. It was painted several times over the years, and is reasonably sound for being outdoors for 90 years. It was quite sturdy when I removed it from the porch. It's 101 inches long and 25 inches high. The top rail is 3 3/8 Inches wide by 2 3/4 Inches deep. There are 22 balusters, each 18 1/2 inches long and 1 3/4 inches square at the ends. For anyone doing a restoration or faithful reproduction, this is a priceless treasure with a rich heritage. Notice that it's listed for pickup only because of the weight and size. 4 Additional Vintage Mahogany Porch Railing Balusters
I know some crafty folk repurpose these old items. I have four 25.25 inch vintage railing balusters. The ends are 1.5 inches square. I am told these are mahogany. These are different in that they have the angle cut on the ends. If you wanted them to be square they would then be 23 inches long. Rugged items. They have wear but are still very good overall. 6 Antique Balusters Sawn Porch Railing Gingerbread Victorian Baluster Salvaged
Antique Baluster 6 Sawn Cutout Porch Hand Rail Balusters Gingerbread Victorian Primitive 6 Antique Balusters Sawn Porch Railing Gingerbread Victorian Handrail Baluster Pieces New England Estate Sale- Hartford CT area demolition salvage. Please see pictures as they are an important part of the description. Photos show two of the balusters but there are 24 in all- 6 offered in this sale. Due to damage to the rail itself. Some if the twelve balusters may have softness towards one of their ends. The softness is only about 1" or so up from their ends so it can be cut off. Some of the bottoms have chunks of wood detached or missing where the grain lines separated in the soft areas. All have multiple layers of paint on them; creamy white underneath the latest coat of gray/green. The paint is peeling off in thick layers in some area and not ... moreat all in other areas. There is still a lot of use left in them otherwise I wouldn't be listing them. Great for a railing project, decorative railing, arts and crafts project, photography. The balusters have a nice distressed look to them. With diamond and triangle or half diamond cut outs. They measure about 17.75" tall, 5.5" across at the top and bottom, and the width is about 1.25" deep. EACH baluster weights about 1 lb 10 ounces. I have not cleaned these balusters but they are not very dirty. They were stored on a porch out of the rain and are in quite good shape for repurposing. As mentioned previously. I have 24 of these balusters all from the same salvage: six are offered here and the others are for sale- contact me if you want the whole lot. Asking $5 each but would consider offers. This is a beautiful. Salvaged railing for a porch or stairs, or even as an architectural element in your home- maybe a chair rail? We were going to use it around our basement stairs, but we didn't have enough. The natural wood color is a light chestnut( and it's in really good shape. Just been sitting in our basement.now it needs to go to a home where it can be appreciated.
