American Victorian Gothic Curved Oak Church Altar or Choir Baluster Pair: This is a twin pair of church choir balusters. I bought these at Red Baron Auctions in Atlanta(rbantiques dot com) These are solid oak with mahogany stain and have a wonderful gothic design. Each baluster is 125" long x 17" wide x 38" tall. They are in very good sound condition however they require having their finish restored. They are sturdy and make quite a statement. They are intended for indoor use. However, they could be adapted to outside use with the right amount of work put into it. The pictures were rotated in iPhoto and appear correct in my file. When eBay loads them, they get turned sideways again for some reason- sorry about that. They are being sold as a pair. The turned part is 27" long and it appears that the 4-1/2" by 2-1/2" long square ends come off on dowel rods. The next pictures show 10 that are 33-1/4" long, the turned parts are 27" long and match the 1st 20 pcs) on these the little block is 3-1/8" long by 2-1/2" square and have threads. they are new old stock never used, some may have a dent or crack, soil from years of shelf wear so they are selling as/is. These spindles were rescued from a farm house they are from the turn of the century. C1890's they measure 26" long to the(squares are 1.25" across) bottom not including dowel they are solid with some flaking paint and wear. This came from the Estate of a wonderful couple from Kent NY. 2 Oak Baluster Columns Carved Decorative Victorian Circa 1900 Antique Measurements: 21” x 4 1/16” x 1 5/16” Weight: 1.457 kg(3 lbs. 3.4 oz. These carved oak balusters are in excellent condition: no major cracks. Repairs or issues. They have been used and show a few chips. Bumps, rubs and indications of age and experience. These are both flat on one side and were mounted against a flat surface: they are not completely round. I have lightly washed these but have not sanded or extensively worked on them in any way. They have a small fraction of their original finish. Giving them a muted, shabby but chic color tone. Being oak, and in very nice shape, they would strip and refinish with a stain to tones from golden oak to as dark as you like. I estimate they were originally on a piece of furniture that dated to circa 1900. They have age. Style ... moreand still make a presence on their own– someone will be very pleased to own them!
