Twin Wrought Iron Stairway Railing assemblies
This auction is for Two Wrought-Iron stair-way Railing assemblies left& right sides.These railings were custom made in 1970 by C& C railings and custom metal works in Hazleton Penna.for my Parents home.The house was eventually sold and demolition was to take place so I removed them.The railings come with all the hardeware.Each newel post uses 4 large screws for hold down.Each ballister fits into a little foot with 2 smaller screws for hold down.And 2 one for each side lag bolts holds the top of the railing to the wall up-right board.The type stairway needed is to be open on both sides for the last four steps then the fifth step would be the landing then a turn to the left and right then two more steps.These Railings are in excellent condition no rusting.Each newel post has a solid brass finial on top.If you have any questions please ... moreask. The oak railing and brackets have been stripped and finished. The handrail has been finished with a natural wood beeswax and the brackets with a clear satin lacquer finish. The railing is 8' 2 3/4" long with the angled ends from tip to tip.The oak railing top surface is 8' 1/2" long and 4" high( which includes the metal u-channel mounted to the bottom) and 2" wide. This is very rare ornate wrought iron stair railing from the grand lobby of the Sterling hotel. There are floral and spiral leaf details that are rarely found in American iron anymore. This hotel was frequented by Coal barons and other prosperous merchants of the time. It was even visited in the early 1900's by Eleanore Roosevelt. The lobby was stunning. And this railing graced the grand lobby stair case on the first and ball room floors. The first two pictures show the iron as pictured in the hotel before it was taken out. The following pictures show pieces after uninstalling to show their condition. The stair rail is 31.5" above the stair treads.The landing rail is 107" long from joint to wall mount with a Height of 32" from the floor. Up for your consideration we have a three piece set of vintage iron stair railing. One piece measures about 11 foot 10 inches long and 26.5 inches tall. The next piece is about 11 foot long and 26.5 inches tall. The final piece is a corner piece that measures about 18 inches long and is also 26.5 inches tall. The three salvaged pieces have been painted off white and the paint shows chippiness and wear. They are in good vintage condition with no dinging or warps to the metal.
