Antique Piano Legs Great Carving Nice Corbels or Table Base
Great set of antique piano legs with great carving. One leg is missing a part( shown in pics) there are some joint marks showing but nothing loose. These legs have been stripped. 20 1/4" tall 11 1/2" wide 2 3/4" deep. The legs have the# 10292 missing the 2 on the one that is missing the piece. Great corbels or table base even with missing piece. SUPER PR OF LARGE FANCY CARVED VICTORIAN SHELF BRACKETS CORBELS SPINDLES NR
Impressive well carved pair of victorian shelf brackets. This pair would make a stunning support for a clock.And they are large enough to support a long shelf as a mantlepiece above your fireplace. Eack bracket measures 21 1/4" high.At the top of support they would be 13" deep,and the bottom"winged" foot support measures 7 1/2" deep. The brackets are a full 2 1/2" thick at the base and foot.Where the top of bracket would meet the shelf it is 13" and where that bracket would attatch to the wall it is 6" H X 2 1/2" in width. Please note the section which would attatch to wall is very slightly concave.but it does fit flush on the ends. I believe the wood is mahagony,but it could also be walnut. The original finish is in good order,with minimal scuffs and loss,but the finish is very darlk.and due to ... moreage and older patina has lost it's shine.Some wax may bring this up a bit,but you have a semi or low gloss finish as it is.The carving is very well done showing carved scrolled acanthus leaves. On the turned post you will note some shell type carving on the discs and a classical fluted central column. All wood id solid,no veneers,and structurally tight and sound without repairs or breaks. No loss to wood or carvings. I would date these brackets to the 1890's. Each bracket weighs 3 lbs. 9 oz. If you have the spot,these will make for a great display. They are sturdy enough to support anything you asl,as long as they are anchored to the wall. Thet will look great with a wood shelf,glass,or marble.it's your choice. Either as an architectural accent or for on that period furniture. They measure an impressive 25" tall x 5-3/4" wide x 3-3/4" deep. Beautifully carved with flowing leaves and scrolls. Antique Pair of Chunky Corbels- Chippy Paint- Architectural Salvage Up for auction are 2 old chunky corbels. Salvaged from the Dubuque, Iowa area. I believe they are old growth pine; could be another type of wood as each weighs in at 2.75 lbs. Interesting shape and their weight makes them ideal as bookends or table-top architectural sculpture. Paint finish is chippy and'grungy' from age; there appears to be but two layers of paint, making removal an easy job. Please expect the usual wear from outdoor exposure. Nail holes on these pieces are found on the unfinished, unexposed sides; the occasional nail or hole is possible on other areas, but for the most part these pieces are'clean. HEAVY CARVED POLYCHROME SOLID WOOD SET ANTIQUE CHINESE DOORS GATE FRAME CORBELS
Talk about an unusual Charleston estate auction find. here is an incredible heavy carved polychrome solid wood Chinese door or heavy gate with a cross beam and side beam frame as well as the heavy raised panel doors with all their original iron fittings. This is an old Chinese door and is extremely heavy as well as somewhat primitive on the unfinished sides of the beams. The polychrome paint is quite worn but is still quite evident and adds so much character to an already gorgeous detailed yet functional heavy door. I have included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design. Quality, condition and overall beauty of this delightful antique door. Unfotunately I do not know any additional provenance on the door or have any definitive explanation as to how it arrived in our fair city, though with it being a port ... morecity and with the sheer size and weight, my guess is whenever it came to the US, it was most assuredly by boat long ago. The standing door frame itself is 78 inches tall by 68 inches wide at it's widest points. At beams which extend and is constructed of huge beams 4 1/2 inches wide.The inside doorway entrance(inside the standing frame) is 63 1/2 inches tall and 39 1/4 inches wide, with a bottom crossbeam one would have to step over to enter. In addition there is a large crossbeam I believe goes overhead, hooking into the corbels, 68 inches long by 8 inches wide by 4 1/4 inches thick. There are also two side beams each 73 1/4 inches long by 6 1/2 inches wide by 3 inches thick and the two corbels, carved from blocks roughly 21 1/2 inches by 12 inches by 8 inches. The two raised panels doors, which shut from behind the door frame, are 74 1/2 inches tall and very heavy, ready for locking out the enemy. Miami Estate These are from the Oneida Mansion They gave the corbels to the original family decendents. The mansion house was redone in 1965 and the corbels were not replaced. Only the columns were repaired. The present owner of these had received them as a gift from one of the original family decendents. Antique Vintage Victorian Wood Architectural Corbels Lot of 7 Matching salvage
This auction is for a lot of seven(7) matching antique vintage victorian wooden architectural corbels. They were original pieces removed from our 1896 Victorian home as part of a remodeling project. Each one measures approximately 7.5" deep x 3.5" wide x 16.5" tall. They were painted a long time ago but the paint could be stripped or painted over. A couple of them are still attached to small portions of the underside of the small roof area where they were mounted above the bay window(see photos) 2 of the 7 were broken during removal. But the breaks are clean and you'd never be able to tell the difference between them and the other 5 when re-installed. They could easily just be wood-glued and the crack would disappear. I tried to show these breaks in the photos, with examples of each one apart and then held together.
