This is a rare double wide colonial barrister that comes apart for a total of 6 seperate pieces. The wood is Mahogany and is grade 598 1/2 the finest they made. The doors open and slide into the bookcase to protect the bookcases. This bookcase came from the library at Marymount college after it was closed. Antique Barristers Stacking Bookcase Globe-Wernicke- Cincinatti. Ohio Quarter-Sawed Oak Finish*LOCAL PICKUP ONLY- Western Nassau County* Measurements: 87.5" high x 34" wide x 9.5" deep My family purchased this bookcase many years ago from an estate sale on Long Island's"Gold Coast" It was used in our house to display a vintage cookie jar collection. The entire bookcase is oak and has not be refinished. All original wood with a nice patina to it. I believe it is from the late 1930's. Combined. It is 6 shelves high with a pull down/hinged glass door on each shelf. All glass intact. Some of the original brass knobs were missing but will include extra knobs, specific for Globe-Wernicke units, though newer/shinier. Up for sale is this antique set of lawyers stacking bookcases. There are 4 stackable compete with base. It is a dark wood and has leaded glass fronts. It is marked Globe wernicke 809 3025 1/2. It measures 34 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 58 1/2" and is in good condition for its age. There is one piece of glass at the bottom that has a crack in it. Antique Globe Wernicke 6-Stack 299 Grade Oak Stacking Lawyers Barrister Bookcase
Up for bid is a wonderful 6-stack Globe Wernicke lawyers or barristers bookcase made of quartersawn oak. All sections are the very desirable Grade 299(quarter sawn/tiger oak with the medium finish) Has the very desirable ogee(curved) top and bottom. All sections are size D-10 1/4. Bookcase is ALL ORIGINAL. Original finish. Original wavy glass, original knobs on the doors. Bookcase is ALL COMPLETE. All labels are present and intact. All glass is present(no cracks or breaks) All felt along the tops of the doors is complete and intact. All scissors mechanisms are present. All acid-etched side bands are correct and present. I rescued over 20 sections from a storage room of an old Chicago school library, and these 6 sections were in the best condition. Condition of the sections is way above average for their age. After 100 years the finish on ... morethese cases has usually"alligatored" Not here. Although there are the usual scratches and chips in the finish, which is to be expected(there is a rub of white paint on the right side of one section shown in the photos) the outside finish is overall extremely smooth with a nice gloss. The very top has the most wear and scratches as the librarians slid and stacked items on top of the cases. There is also the reside from 2 old pieces of cellophane tape on the front of the top. I can find no delamination of the back panels, nor any bubbling of the veneer on the very top. Being in a library for so many years has preserved them nicely. Overall size of the bookcase is 84" tall x 34" wide x 12" deep. If you need more photos. Or have additional questions, please email me. Lovely rare step-back barrister from Globe Wernicke Co. Limited of London. 50 inches tall. 34 inches wide, and 9 1/2 inches deep at top, 11 1/2 inches deep at bottom. Has a lovely drawer at bottom. Also, each door has beveled glass which I have not seen before. Each door has all straps, hardware, and inside door mecahnisims. Doors open easily. Missing one knob. Beautiful. Local pick up. Globe Wernicke Quarter Sawn Tiger Oak Sectional Lawyers Barrister Bookcase
I have up for sale a very nice vintage original circa early 1900s Globe-Wernicke Sectional Bookcase. This is an original matching unit- all sections are Globe-Wernicke 298-1/2. The lower section is a number 112 D 12-1/4" The middle a 110 D 10-1/4" and the upper a 108 D 8-1/2" These are all standard sized sections which are most desired as the more narrow sections have far less room. The bookcase stands approx 47" tall. 34" wide, and approx 12-1/2" at the base. It weighs roughly 75 lbs as it sits. It is in very good original condition- some minor age and use wear but overall a nice example. It is not perfect- there are a few areas of minor wear and such. With the top and base, this stands approximately 77"tall. The bottom section measures about 16" tall, and is about 14" front to back. The other sections are 13" tall, 11" front to back. Has brass knobs, and bands on the sides. Has glass in doors. Doors have scissor mechanism. This will be pick-up only. Located in Greenwood IN. Which is 20 minutes south of Indianapolis.
