Large Flat Top Steamer Trunk Nice. Sturdy well made, beautifully restored Steamer Trunk. Newly refinished in a unique antiqued brown. Oak slats have been sanded and stained in a rich red mahogany and coated with polyurethane. My goal with this one is to make it look untouched, but still have a clean usable antique. The interior is newly finished as well. Stripped, sealed and covered in a deep brown felt, no old trunk smell! The handles are original. And still look very nice. It doesn't appear to have ever had wheels on the bottom. Bottom is also refinished. Note: the top has 2 cracks. See pictures, it does not seem to affect the structural integrity, and could be reinforced from the inside if desired. It would make a great coffee table or end table! Little trunk has the original latch by Bassett of Conn. also has three original slats on top and vintage, original paper coverings. Antique HARTMANN Wardrobe Steamer Trunk Cushion Top No Reserve
You are bidding on an antique Hartmann brand wardrobe steamer trunk in amazing condition. It has almost all of its original accessories and hardware. Many hangers are included. Possibly more than originally equipped. Both the securing bar for the drawers and the securing bar for the clothes are present and original. It is very large measuring 40"x23"x25" It is also very heavy. This trunk has been in our family for so long that no one even remembers where it came from. Until recently, we could not open it because it was locked and we had no key. We had a key made for it and were amazed at how great it looked when we opened it up. There is no key for the securing bar for the drawers, but it is not seized and should work properly if a new key is made. It needs a new handle as it is missing. It should be a standard leather strap ... moretype for which reproductions are available and inexpensive. The only other thing I see that may be missing is a travel case that would lock into the hanger area. If you look at the drawers, you will see the Hartmann logo on the handles, and there is some of the original label left on the top. It has gold color interior with very nice trim. Some wear on the contact areas like the drawer slides, but overall, it looks hardly used. Based on its design, I would say that it is probably from the 1920s or 1930s. I was unable to confirm this, and base my guess on some old advertising I was researching. I welcome any information as to its time of manufacture. Own a Piece of American History Today! This trunk is over 100 years old! ANTIQUE METAL BARREL STAVE DOME TOP TRUNK WITH WOOD SLATS(591.100) With Measurements: 30.5"w x 17 3/4"d x 23"h Dome Top Trunks 1870-1920 Built in many sizes and styles. They generally have a curved top that slopes in both directions and built using a variety of construction methods including molded ply and barrel construction among others. Within this style of trunks are a few other names that have come about based on the positioning of the wood slates that cover the dome construction. The exact origin of these names is unknown but seem reasonable and listed below as I understand them. Barrel Stave Trunks(1860-1885) they generally date a bit earlier than most of the dome tops made and have horizontal running slats instead of vertical(end to end vs. over ... morethe top) Giving it a slightly different look. The word"stave" in this case refers to the wood slats. These trunks were mostly made from the late 1860's until about the mid 1880s when the other dome construction methods listed below became more widely used. Often early examples of this style have a graceful. Well proportioned look and the later examples into the 1870's are quite simply well made. This trunk is in good condition. Obviously it will show wear marks from age as it is over 100 years old. No rotted metal or holes present. Aren't you just drawn to these old trunks?To me. They represent a much simpler time in this country. It's that emotional connection that makes them so appealing to collectors, and will only increase the value of the piece in time. I have done my best to describe this piece. It is very old and will contain the usual wear marks of typical everyday use and travel. | | Fine Antique Signed Louis Vuitton Trunk No Reserve, Up for auction is this antique signed Louis Vuitton Trunk. It measures 36 inches across by 19 inches deep by 13 inches tall. This trunk was a recent barn find that made it's way to my shop. It has all of the usual signed hardware: lock. Clasps, tacks, etc. It is in the monogram canvas, and has the Vuitton label on the interior. It is in sound structural shape. And opens and closes perfectly, but clearly has cosmetic issues; the leather handles are gone, the interior lacks its tray and is quite stained. The exterior canvas has bumps, tears and losses, the most severe of which is on one side. There is a patch on the front as well. Monogrammed with"DKB" on both sides No Key. Pictures show the trunk from every angle S/I/T in the U.S. is estimated at $300.00. Great overseas ... morerates as well. Please ask all questions before bidding. I will consider offers. 1920's LOUIS VUITTON LV Monogram Travel Steamer Trunk - NO RESERVE
For sale is an rare antique Louis Vuitton coffee table sized steamer trunk from the 1920's. It measures 43"x 21 1/2"x12 1/2" and has the monogram pattern and all the matching LV hardware. It is 100% original. All of the nails are stamped and branded LV. The interior is in very good condition with no tears in the quilted silk patterned top and just a couple of stains in the bottom storage area. It is missing the original tray insert. The original Louis Vuitton paper label is intact and is not torn. The serial number is stamped and very clear-189940. The trunk has a few scuffs and a couple of cracks on the top but it is in good overall condition. A piece of the wooden runner on the bottom is missing. Otherwise. All of the other runners are complete and undamaged. The serial number stamped on the lock is 037965. There are ... moreshipping decals all over- one reading WHITE STAR baggage room C, one large LONDON label and a great AMERICAN EXPRESS shipping label. The trunk came from the estate of one of the Newport, RI mansions, just down the street from The Breakers. I will provide provenance information to the winning bidder, if requested. The trunk weighs about 38 lbs. and with packaging should be almost 50 lbs. I am willing to package and ship it internationally but the purchaser will pay $150 for packaging/customs form preparation plus the actual shipping costs. This is an authentic Louis Vuitton wardrobe trunk Hat Case. It is a family heirloom. 1920s-1930s, The trunk is wood with brown and gold LV monogram canvas and leather. The trunk is sold as-is, in used original condition with no later cleaning or restoration. The upright exterior measurements are 19.5" tall, 19.5” wide, and 9.5” deep. The exterior of the trunk has some marks and wear associated with its travel usage. Inside label with serial number reads: 796908. The brass is unpolished and the lock is intact, no key. The text on the front of the trunk reads M.H. as this belonged to Maud Hill. Ornate hand-carved antique chest/trunk. Vintage Chinese/ Asia *NO RESERVE*
Here is what I know of my Grandpa's trunk. He got it overseas in World War II. My Mom said it's from China. She said it's cedar wood. I do not know for sure it is cedar? I don't know the exact year it was made but it was made before 1942. It needs a dusting(as you can see) and has been kept in climate controlled storage for many years now. It is beautifully hand-carved on all four sides and on top. Dark brown in color. I really don't know much about it but it is quite nice. looks like the carvings tell a story- I can try to send more pictures or if you have questions call or e-mail. Size is 16x 16x 36. This is only the 2nd time I have ever sold on e-bay so I don't have a rating yet but you can call me if you have questions for me. I put it on to sell so no reserve- Its a nice trunk!
