The lid and supports have all the hardware intact. The lid opens to reveal a multi-cubby hole interior. It has four modern solid wood shelves that I don’t believe are original. The molding on the double door top is unusual chain style going around both doors. It is a heavy duty solid wood desk. There is a crack in the lid as shown in the photos. The glass on the top on the left-hand door has a space in the top. It is very usable. It is in a dark oak stain finish.

The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

Dating from the 1890s era. It is in complete restored condition and all set to go in the home. We take a lot of pride in doing up our antiques nicely, and we certainly went all out here, with our head refinisher Norm doing a job of unbelievable quality on this desk. It has a tiger sawn writing surface in the center, which had to be glued back down as most desks of this age. We also had to re-glue everything, reinforce the roll, sand, strip, stain, and apply multiple coats of sealer and satin sheen lacquer on this hard-to-find 66-inch-wide roll-top desk by the Derby Desk Company of Boston, Mass. If you’ve been looking for a roll-top, and you’d like one to brag about, this one gives you all the bragging rights you’ll ever need. It is an unusual desk with drawers opening on both sides and one door on both sides. Each side has a center drawer, a right-hand drawer, and a right-hand door. The desk was refinished in the last 10 years or so and whoever it was did a wonderful job. The desk has dainty carved cabriole legs with brass fillagree on the elbows and castors. The drawers are all dove tail with brass ribbed knobs. The doors have locks, but there is no key. The desk is in wonderful condition apart from two small cracks on the solid oak top that has nothing to do with structure and you wouldn’t want to touch it. The overall size is 52 inches wide, 28 inches deep and 30 inches high.

Antique Tiger Oak Desk, curved drawer fronts, Unusual, Vintage, French maybe
Antique Tiger Oak Desk This beautiful desk has been sitting in storage for 30 years. It looks really old. But I have no idea how old it is or where it came from. The number 126 is impressed into the underside of the desk, but I have found no other marks on it. There are 5 drawers on one side. And 5 false drawer fronts on the other. As you can see in the photos, 4 of the 5 drawer fronts are curved, and the drawer joints are dovetailed. There are keyholes in the drawers(no keyholes on the false fronts, see photo#1) All 5 drawer locks are present, but I do not have the key. I’m sure that the drawer pulls are not the originals, since the pulls on two of the drawers cover up the keyholes. All 4 caster wheels roll well. The wood grain is amazing. But there are several condition issues. Two of the boards that make up the desk top have separated(have ... morecome unglued) and some crazy person(not me) drove a couple of headless nails into the boards to hold them in place. The nail heads are double-circled in yellow in the last photo. When I flipped the desk over, I saw the nails coming through an inch or so. It looks like it would not be too difficult to push them out from the underside. Also, something was spilled on the top, maybe ink. The stain is circled in yellow. The four inside corners of the desk are banged up, due to being struck repeatedly by a chair. A yellow arrow points to the most seriously damaged corner. This beautiful desk is made out of oak wood. Tiger oak wood, quarter sawn and is in solid, good original condition. This wonderful secretary style desk has a light/medium oak stain finish color, and it has a pull-down front with a drawer and shelving inside the top section, see pictures. Dove-tailed drawer with wood handles on the outside, see pictures, and the drawer is working properly. This is a high-quality piece with an elegant mission/arts and crafts style design. The condition is very good for it's age but there are some aging imperfections with a small dark spot on the top, and some on the bottom shelf and a couple inside. Also some sort of small circle outline near the top key hole. It looks like the front drop down is made in two pieces and there is a small separation of the two in an area. Really just part of the old character ... morebut I want to point out as much as I see so that you can decide if you are interested. Escutcheon needs re-attached but I do have that and both original keys. There is a key hole on the drop down part and on the drawer. This is local pick up only.

Extremely useable(and fun) with heavy solid wood and no expensive brass to polish. I have used it on a regular basis since I picked it up at an auction in 1971. Condition: signs of wear consistent with age and use. Various use marks, stains and scratches. no keys) Excellent restoration project. Please view the pictures. There was a repair to deal with a weakness in the desk when the roll-top is removed. Several minor repairs are still needed. But I choose not to make them so that I didn't mess up the value of the desk by doing them wrong. All of the original wood and screws are present for the repairs. I would do a good cleaning to the boards, maybe a light, fine sanding, oil, and then leave them alone. This desk dates back to the early 1900's. It measures 32-1/2" wide x 39" tall(to the flat top of the desk) x 15" deep. It has a little paint splatter on the top and one side but you should be able to get it off. It does not have a key. It is missing one knob and the door won't stay closed on one of the bottom cubby holes. It is in very good condition and is a solid piece. It does not wobble and the tiger oak grain is very nice. Antique original mission desk library table tiger oak measures approx 28 x 48 x 29-1/2. Drawer is missing the pulls. Cross-piece under drawer. Left side has a chip as can be seen in photo. Wood panel on bottom of drawer has a split as can also be seen in photo. Overall good condition, nice tiger oak pattern of wood grain. Left side of table top has 2 very minor spots where tip of screws from underneath have made minor wear to the top. Not very noticeable. See photos for overall condition. Buyer can make arrangement for local pickup in southwest Michigan area(Kalamazoo/Battle Creek/Grand Rapids) or we can work with you to have shipped via Greyhound or your freight company if you make the arrangements.
