The drawer fronts have book-matched crotch mahogany veneers and cockbeading. The fitted interior(sorry for the dust) has burl walnut veneers, ebonized pulls and boxwood stringing. The interior cupboard door opens to reveal a drawer with a secret drawer behind. See photo) The desk measures 44" high by 39 1/2" wide by 20" deep. In overall very good condition. There is some minor loss to the veneer on the feet which we will restore for you. The desk lid is cupped which makes the desk impossible to lock properly though we do have a key. I don't think we want to try to address this particular issue but please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. There is also some cracking of the veneer on the lid but it is all stable, nothing loose. The desk has great color and patination and is guaranteed to be as described. This desk has a black inlay in several areas as well. The crown is carved with a fan shape at the center and spoon carvings and lines all along the top. There is a secret door behind the crown on the top of the piece that has a lock and opens to the center section. The doors are paneled and the black inlay is very nice on them. The center has a large label on the back interior wall that shows a picture of the building and talks about the company that made this piece. This piece has a great patina and is in great condition for its age. It is antique and may not be perfect. I do not know the exact date it was made. It was made by the Pettibone Mfg. Co. in Cincinnati. OH. There is a brass tag on the center front of the desk part that says the company name and location. It says LIBRARY AND SOCIETY GOODS as well. The measurements are: Base: 29 ½ inches tall, 38 5/8 inches side to side and 30 ¼ inches front to back. It weighs 33 pounds. Brass wheels with ball bearings in them along with a heavy black rubber wheel. On the wheels reads Noelting Faultless Evansville Indiana. No other makers mark. Measures 32-1/4" l x 16" w x 27" tall. Margolis Mahogany Slant Top, Block Front Desk
Beautiful mahogany slant top. Block front desk made by Nathan Margolis, in very good condition. This desk has everything you would want: beautiful finish work, large storage drawers, and internal cubis and drawers.The desk is 42 7/8 inches high, 21 inches deep, and 39 3/4 inches wide. It has all original hardware, ball and claw feet, secret compartments, and a key to lock the top portion of desk. It was commissioned by NL Gardner in 1905, and has been in the family since. The back board is slightly warped as shown in picture, and there are slight nicks on feet, but no significant damage. Margolis is reputed to have been the best cabinet maker of the twentieth century and has pieces at Winterthur. He is known for making high quality. Traditional pieces. The desk is 30.25" wide, 37" high, and 14.5" deep(from drawer) When opened, the writing surface is 27.5" from the floor. It features original brass hardware, a single pull-out drawer beneath the desk, and six compartments inside to store letter, bills, etc. I estimate the age of this piece to be approximately 110 years. It is in good to very good condition as indicated in the Condition description. There are some light scratches and cup marks as pictured. Antique Walnut Slant Front Drop Lid Secretary Desk with Bookcase Top
There is no reserve on this really beautiful antique walnut slant front drop lid secretary desk with bookcase top. The bookcase top has 2 shelves above the base of it. The desk is 80 inches tall. 39 inches wide, 17 inches deep. There are 2 dove tailed drawers at the writing surface level, one on either side of the 8 divided storage sections. The writing surface is in good condition. When the drop is open it is supported by 2 wooden boards that pull out under it. When the drop is closed, you can access 1 long dove tailed drawer and below the drawer 2 doors open to a base with 1 shelf in it. All the brass hardware is original and in good condition except a repaired handle on the left side of the bottom of the base. Excellent condition. Buyer must arrange and pay for pick up and delivery.

Has a beveled mirror top center and two small corner pedestal candle shelves either side. Embossed scrollwork adorns rounded top. Scrollwork embellishment on slant-top fold-up front of desk. Opens up flat supported by hinges either ... moreside. Desk organizing compartments inside includes small pull out drawer. Bookcase below offering two shelves for a home library. Glass doors open and close smoothly keeping books dust-free. A small lock on bottom shelf secures one of the doors. The other closes with little effort. As can be expected with most antiques. There are always a few issues from time and use. Items to note with this Larkin: there is gray spotting on the beveled mirror. Also, the pull knob on front of desk is loose and interior lock is missing. Left side hinge is replacement, not original, and two small dividers missing from inside compartments. When you purchase this desk. You are buying a piece of history. This rare Gustav Stickley slant-top desk is a thing of beauty and a classic example of furniture from the Arts and Crafts period and the Mission style. The Stickley markings date this desk as being made between 1912-1916. It is made of solid oak hardwood and(on the slant top) tiger-eye oak veneer. The construction is primarily mortis and tenon and peg joinery. With the back piece nailed on with original hardware. The finish and patina are original, as is all of the other hardware. I acquired this wooden lap desk at a local estate sale of a wood worker here in Lancaster County. PA. It appears to be made of oak. It is a slant top lap desk with a brass piano hinged lid that opens to store paper. Pens, pencils, etc. There is also a built in pencil tray groove at the top. Great for a young child to use in their room for homework if there is not enough room for a full desk. The craftsman name was Bill Killough. Measures approx. 18" x 14" x 4" at the highest point.

Antique 19th Century Primative Pine Wood Schoolmaster's Slant Top Desk Gallery
Primitive Schoolmaster's Desk This is a gorgeous piece of early American history. This is a primitive schoolmaster's style desk. We are quite certain that this piece dates back to the early part of the 1800's. The desk was hand-made and was constructed using square nails. We suspect that the wood used is pine. Some sections of the desk were made using wood planks as large as 22" wide! A board on the top is 17 1/2" wide and one on the side measures 21" wide. Boards of this size only reinforce the old age of this piece. The desk has the following measurements: Height: 35" Width: 38" Depth: 28 1/2" Kneehole Opening: 23 3/4" tall(at center) by 19 3/4" wide, There are four roughly-cut drawers on the right side of the desk. They measure as follows: First: 11 3/4" wide by 18 1/4" deep ... moreby 2" tall Second: 11 3/4" wide by 18 1/4" deep by 3 1/4" tall Third: 11 3/4" wide by 18 1/4" deep by 4 1/4" tall Fourth: 11 3/4" wide by 18 1/4" deep by 5 1/4" tall, The drawer bottoms show evidence of being cut by a mill saw. They are all hand-planed and chamfered. One of the drawers does have a small hole in the face where a lock was removed. The right side of the desk is supported by 2 simple-style turned legs. There is a railed book gallery running across the back/top of the desk. This is in great. Antique condition overall with some general signs of age and use. Regardless of age, this desk is still very sturdy. It appears as though the desk was once painted, but was later striped to reveal the natural wood finish. Tiny pieces of evidence of the previous paint job can be found in corners, cracks and crevices. The drawer pulls are old, but do not appear to be original to this piece. This desk is nearly 200 years old. It shows wear consistent to its age in the form of cracks, chips, scratches and general bumps and bruises. This desk belonged to my grandfather in the early 1900s. My father who would be 76 this year if he were still alive spilled some airplane glue on it when he was a child and there's a spot on it from that. This piece has wear and tear so I took photos of everything to represent it as accurately as possible. I was offered $850 for it about 15 years ago from an antique dealer who came out to appraise it when my father passed. I do not recall the brand. The name or much else about it. I inherited it from my father after he passed away and only know the history of what I have told you. It is not a super heavy piece of furniture. This antique book stand has a few minor scratches on the top and on the legs. It is very sturdy and moves easily on its wheels. The wheels do show some wear due to age. Not an expert in wood furniture. So not 100% sure it is oak. See the pictures for more details. Has a shelf below the slanted table top that measures 20" long, 10.5 inches wide. The entire stand measures approximately 24" long, by 12.5" wide, by 33" tall including the wheels.
