Label but Gunn Furniture Company was best known for using the side slide mechanism(which this one has) for the doors rather than the scissor type. Beautiful quarter sawn oak case with 3 stacks and original wavy glass. The top 2 cases are 11 inches high able to hold books 8 1/2 inches high. The bottom case is larger at 15 inches high and able to hold books 13 1/2 inches tall. The case together measures 34 1/4 inches wide and 14 1/2 inches deep including curved over hang top and bottom. I have up for sale a very nice vintage original circa early 1900s Globe-Wernicke Sectional Bookcase. This is an original matching unit- all sections are Globe-Wernicke 298-1/2. The lower section is a number 112 D 12-1/4" The middle a 110 D 10-1/4" and the upper a 108 D 8-1/2" These are all standard sized sections which are most desired as the more narrow sections have far less room. The bookcase stands approx 47" tall. 34" wide, and approx 12-1/2" at the base. It weighs roughly 75 lbs as it sits. It is in very good original condition- some minor age and use wear but overall a nice example. It is not perfect- there are a few areas of minor wear and such. Unusual quartered quarter sawn oak barrister bookcase stepback graduated-14959
I have sold probably a hundred or more barrister bookcases over the years. I look for unusual models and thought I had probably seen every combination but here is one I have never seen before. In quartered quarter sawn oak a graduated stepback unit that is very functional. Excellent original smooth even finish. Note the bottom section is a stepback style and deeper than the other sections. The bottom section is 15.5 high and 11.5 deep. The middle section is 13.0 high and 9.5 deep. The top barrister section is 11.0 high and 9.5 deep. Most unusual is the very top piece which is a two door bookcase portion with a shelf in the middle. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. Adorable half size barrister stacked bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase. Piece is executed in quartered quarter sawn oak. Completely professionally refinished with a smooth and even finish. Graduated size in that the bottom 3 stacks are 11.5 high and the top stack is 9.5 high. Manufactured by the Macey Co(a competitor of Globe Wernicke) with each stack retaining the original Macey label. Note the claw feet and'leopard' bands on the sides. Antique Quarter Sawn Mission Oak Globe-Wernicke Barrister Stacking Bookcase
34" wide. 69" tall, 12" deep. Three 10" tall D-8 1/2 sections, Two 12" tall D- 10 1/4 sections base and top. This is a completley original barrister fully sanded and refinished. Original brass side straps and handles polished and clear coated so will not tarnish. All original wavy glass. Only flaw is a burn spot on top. I did not replace the veerner becuse wanted to keep the originial quarter sawn and can't see anyway due to height of bookcase. No shipping pick up only. Located 20 miles west of Kalamazoo Mi.
