Vintage/Antique Oak Office Desk Chair Vintage Office Chair I picked up this Neat Vintage Office Chair at an estate sale outside of Dallas. Texas. This listing is for a vintage oak office chair. I have two as shown but this listing is for just one of them. The joints have metal brackets as shown. I have not tried to take them off but they both need some TLC. Also.On one of them two of the castors come off if you lift up the chair but I'm sure this is an easy fix. It looks like they were adjustable at one time but someone put brackets on the bottom to keep it from adjusting. I took quite a few pictures to show any damage and the brackets. The one on the left also has brackets on the base but the one on the right does not. They do however still swivel. This lovely oak swivel office chair may be an early Heywood Bros& Wakefield Co(Heywood-Wakefield) but it bears no tag or marking. We have seen photos of similar chairs that date 1880s-1920s but cannot verify the age of this chair. The seat and back are drilled for caning. The cane is gone and the seat and backrest have been reupholstered with dark brown horse hide. The chair is ready for use. Or could be recaned. The wood in this chair is beautiful. The cast iron swivel and adjustable height mechanisms are in very good working order. The seat adjusts from 18.5" high from the floor to 22" when the swivel is half way up. The 7.25" long swivel can come all the way up to disassemble the legs from the seat. The mechanism also allows the chair to tilt back about 30 degrees. As you can see. Chair is in very good condition although there are some flaws such as: Minor scuffs here and there-Someone at one point replaced one of the legs with a different species of wood but this has been somewhat remedied so it doesn't look too out of place. The shape is off but I mainly just left it alone and took care of the chair as a whole-Replaced casters-Some holes. Mostly filled and sealed-Some scrapes and faint remaining doodling Chair is overall very gorgeous and healthy despite any flaws. It is sturdy and comfortable and another item I would rather keep than sell for much less than my asking price. Handbanino will keep it safely tucked away while it is listed for sale though. It has a spring loaded adjustable mechanism between the chair seat and bottom pedestal which works fine. It may need oil as I have not adjusted this chair for several years. The chair seat measures 19 1/2" across the front and 15 1/2" from front to rear. It measures 34" from the floor to the top of the back of the chair but can be adjusted up or down. chair Johnson Antique 1920 solid wood office Industrial Oak Swivel Adjustable
For auction is a gorgeous and historical signed Johnson antique chair. The original sticker underneath the seat is worn but present. You can also see Johnson Chair Co on the cast iron swivel mechanism. The chair has a beautiful classic look. The chair shows a lot of wear in many places. The patina has a very old look and the finish is wearing off in general. There are some small specks of white paint. There are several places near the casters that there are 3 holes. A wood chip or two and perhaps some replacement wood or wood filler. There are some pre-cracks and the wood looks strange near the chair back near the top on one side. There may be some wood filler near the seat on the middle back of the chair. The casters do not move easily. With the wonderful cast iron underneath. The chair is very heavy(I estimate 33 pounds) I do not know the ... moreage. Though it looks similar to a chair that was listed as 1920, but that is only a guess. Also. I believe it is Oak, but again, that is just a guess on my part. Size is about 18” wide. 16 ½“ deep. 34” tall and the seat is 17 3/4“ high, though I believe this may be adjustable up and down(though I don’t know if that works– I can test it if you would like) This is a beautiful. Antique Oak Office Chair Adjustable Swivel Tilt Bankers Lawyers Antique solid oak office chair. 1940's era, in very good condition how found. As this is a vintage chair there are dings to the wood from years of use which can be seen in the photo's. The underside of the chair has a heavy duty cast iron mechanism with a threaded rod. This allows the chair to swivel and tilt. There is also a screw on the mechanism which allows you to adjust the chair up or down. This will allow you to adjust the height of the chair to fit your desk. The four rolling castors look to me to have been replaced. T his antique solid oak office chair has a stunning wood grain. It would be a nice addition to your home or office decor. Please see photo's. This chair is a little rough and will need cleaned up. The main flaws I see are a little space at the top of the back rest, and very dirty arms. The chair comes apart in two pieces, I don't know what the metal knobs are suppose to do, I have turned one of them and I don't see any difference, this is a project chair, please ask questions as I don't know a lot about these chairs, so you are buying it"AS IS" Because of shipping weight this will be local pick up only.
