Quartered oak barrister bookcase Globe leaded glass top door graduated --14508
This is a really nice quartersawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. This piece was manufactured by the GLOBE WERNICKE Company of Cincinnati. They were competitors of Macey and others. Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide, 12 deep, and 57.5 high. I don't think you will find a nicer four stack unit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Rare form carved quartered oak barrister bookcase with desk leaded glass-14489
This is a great carved quartered oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. This outstanding stacking desk bookcase is one of the nicest we have ever seen. It has leaded glass windows in the top two sections below the molded top. The carved fall board has a key that opens or locks the desk section. Inside are two strong desk lid supports and a nice set of pigeon holes with a single pencil drawer-fitted interior. The desk section sits above two full width drawers. The top drawer is shaped to fit the curve. The second drawer is carved to accent the fall board. Both drawers have original brass handles. The lowest section is an extra tall one with a"blind" door or wood paneled door to prevent breakage from feet. The entire piece sits on a molded base section. Here's an un-marked oak bookcase with very nice lines. 19-1/2" wide by 48" tall. The sides taper from 12" deep at the floor to 9-1/2" deep at the top. The glass in the doors is original and in excellent condition. The latches and hinges are original and in good working condition. Note: the small missing piece of fake tenon end and the slight separation of a shelf glue joint. Also the glue blocks underneath are missing. Finish is original and has not been played around with. This is a very nice five stack graduated stepback barrister quartered oak bookcase. This case was manufactured by Globe Wernicke; a competitor of Macey and some of the other bookcase makers. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. This quartered oak unit retains the original Globe labels. Bookcase contains four different sizes of cases(stacks) to accommodate different size books(or whatever) This unit also has a stepback bottom unit which is deeper-quite useful. This unit has been professionally refinished and restored-a beautiful smooth and even finish. Note the'leopard' bands connecting each section. This is an especially nice quartered quarter sawn oak barrister bookcase. Many of these barristers were made by Globe Wernicke or Macey-I do not know who manufactured this bookcase. This is certainly a very fine quartered quarter sawn oak Danner bookcase. Interesting sliding door bookcase(works perfectly) which we have refinished with a smooth and even finish. Danner bookcases were made in Ohio in the early 20th century. This model has the original leaded glass windows on the top section and the original plain glass windows in the bottom section. These were mostly made by Globe Wernicke or Macey Co. but I do not know the manufacturer of this one. Piece is executed in quartered oak with leaded glass doors. Each with pretty beveled diamonds. Additional highlights include a sculptured top and a full skirt. Antique Oak Macey 8" Barrister Bookcase Section w/ Leaded Glass
Up for sale is an antique Macey Bookcase section from Circa 1910. It has leaded glass and is all original. The dimentions are 11" tall(roughly 8.5" inches for interior book room) 33.5" wide, and 11.5" Deep. Similar to a Globe Wernicke D-8 section, but not quite compatible if stacked with a Globe Wernicke due to a slight difference in how the top of the doors are made. The"Macey" stenciling exists inside of the bookcase, along with"98. Condition: All original. In very good condition. Original finish and glass. The finish is slightly alligatored, but the quarter-sawn oak still shines through nicely. The leaded glass has a crack on one of the larger panes, as well as one of the small triangels. There's a couple spots of flaking to the leadwork(see picks, lighter spots. There is a section of green paint ... moreon the back of the bookcase and the very back of the copper band where it folds around the back. That's it- all mechanisms original and work nicely. Shipping: No wrapping charge as I have the packing materials. I will remove the door and wrap that between two pieces of styrofoam to prevent the glass from bending inward during transit(old leadwork not reinforced and protected during transit is bad) Shipping will be via FedEx ground to the lower 48 USA only. Antique Larkin Mission oak leaded stained glass doors bookcase Stickley era
Hello. Up for auction is this striking antique solid oak, leaded stained glass, double door bookcase with scroll feet, with four adjustable shelves, and original hardware, with key for locking. It is solid oak, and in great shape for an old piece, including the original finish. Book case was made by Larkin soap company, of Buffalo, NY at the turn of the century, although there are no manufacturer's marks on it. It is indeed a Larkin. No breaks, or cracks in glass. Larkin was an early 20th Century soap manufacturer, who started giving away furniture as promotional items, and had so much success, they started making, and selling their own line of furniture.
