This auction is for a neat& smaller size Oak Bookcase& Magazine Rack combo unit from England. The slim little doll will go into any room of your home. It's made out of Solid Oak with solid oak planks on the back. The sides. Top, shelves and magazine dividers are all solid oak. The shelves are fixed in place and do not adjust. With it's small size, this unit can go in your kitchen, den, bedroom and even your bathroom. It has ample storage for books plus the bottom can hold magazines& newspapers. This one is in overall good condition without any rot or worm damage. This bookcase is not new or a reproductions, it been around quite a while and have just got"off the boat" from England less than 4 weeks ago. The bookcase is 15 1/8" wide X 8 1/2" deep and is 38 3/4" tall overall. Each shelf is 13 3/4" ... morewide with the top shelf being 5 3/8" deep. The second shelf is 6 5/8" deep and the bottom shelf is 6 3/4" deep. a prvious owner modified the bottom of this unit. It came with two dividers on the bottom for magazines& newspapers. They removed the dividers and added the bottom shelf. By doing this. You can see where the dividers used to be on the inside walls at the bottom shelf. Here we have a wonderful example of that in this antique bookcase with glass door. The wood used in this bookcase is solid oak and is quite sturdy. Intricate carvings adorn the cornice. These carvings are subtle and appear to be hand done. The oak itself has a wonderful. Medium patina that comes from the passage of time. The single glass door is fitted ... morewith old, wavy glass giving us some idea of the age of the bookcase. This bookcase originated in England. We purchased it in around Somerset but it could have been made anywhere on the island. It dates back to around 1940. The single glass door of this bookcase locks with an included key. Inside are four adjustable oak shelves. These shelves adjust with a brass pin system and are about 12.25″ deep inside. A brass pin system system is a series of holes on all four corner of the bookcase that you insert brass pins into which the shelf rests on. The shelves are quite visible through the glass. Making this bookcase a wonderful display piece. The bun feet are fitted with antique casters that have porcelain wheels. This bookcase has survived the years with little to no wear and is in excellent condition. It is sturdy. The lock functions easily, and the shelves are strong. This particular unit stands 45-1/4" tall by 15" wide by 10-7/8" deep at top and tapering to 13-1/8" deep at the bottom with five shelves. The 3 top are 7-1/4" tall and the 2 bottom are 8-1/2" tall. This is a lovely antique Mission-style rotating bookshelf in dark oak. Its dimensions are: 53" high. 23" X 16.5" top(which is the largest width/depth of the piece) It rotates very easily-no noise or dragging whatsoever. The bookshelf is on wheels which makes it very easy to move around when empty.
