The rocker features cut-out slats. An arched panel and beveled ears. There is evidence of an early paper label just under the seat cushion(see pics) Although I was not able to identify the chair, it does have strong resemblances of a quality maker like Stickley or Limbert. Antique Mission Oak Arm Chair Arts & Crafts-- final listing -- lowest price
I have an antique chair that I believe dates from the first quarter of the 1900's. Solid oak, with swirled arms, rattan sides and arts and crafts stylized legs. It was purchased by my husband about 25 years ago. Overall it is in great shape for age. It can use a tiny bit of touch up on the wood where there are a few exposed wood spots. A small piece of the rattan side is deteriorated, as shown in the close up photo. Also, the cushions need new foam to prevent sagging, and new upholstery if the current choice is not to your style. The springs that hold the cushion seem to work fine. This is a very solid chair. Nothing is loose, and for most of the chair the original finish is intact. This is another great family piece. This was my grandfather's when he was a young child(born 1907) My late mother kept this chair forever. It has all the original mechanism brackets and bar. I think the cushions are not original. But are very old. They appear to have had buttons on them at one time. Cushions are not perfect, but are still very attractive on the chair. This is a nice one family owner piece with a great look and patina on the original finish. This has been carefully cared for throughout the years. Shows some minor wear being 100 years old and all, but far less than most still original examples that I have seen. This vintage chair is from an estate. The next to last photo shows it paired with the oak desk it came with. Which I'm also listing, but it seems a bit low in the seat to be a desk chair. The chair is in very good vintage condition. Showing normal wear. The color of the fabric is deep red, more of a wine color. The oak finish is medium in tone. The fabric doesn't have any holes or tears. The last photo shows what appears to be a small area of gray paint droplets on the top of the chair back. If you look at the photo of the underside of the chair you may be able to see the slothead screws. As well as the springs, giving an indication of age. This is a comfortable chair to sit in and it's sturdy and well made. The legs aren't wobbly and everything looks to be in good repair. The oldest sibling of my father's family in 1914 or so was the 1st user of this chair. We don't have room for it any more. It measures 25 1/4" high. 21" long rocking legs, 14" long arms with a 12" square seat. The seat cover now is a green velour fabric. Originally there was a leather cover for the seat. Under the seat fabric is a newer piece of wood for its bottom. There is a crack in the back of the chair that is shown in the last photo which does not go all the way through to the front. This is a very comfortable. Sturdy antique oak kitchen chair. It is quite large( 20" across the seat and wing x 20" deep at the seat x 42"high) so you do not need a Victorian butt to enjoy it. The seat was refurbished by the prior owner and appears to be leather. The remainder of the chair appears to be original and I have tried to include pictures of all of the blemishes. The back of the wing was damaged by someone monkeying around at the dinner table. I presume, but it does not affect the structure of the chair. There are no wobbles. The chair has been cleaned. Vintage Oak Barrel Back Arm Chair Desk/Office/Task Rolls/Swivels/Adjusts
Signed B.L. Marbles Bedford Ohio. Finish wear and some digs/scratches from use over the years and there is a long chip to the back rear edge along the top of the back. Finish would touch up nicely with some Old English finish restorer. Leather has about a 2" crack on the right side edge between where the arm upright comes down and the back and maybe a tight cut to the back side where the leather meets the frame so that one can't open up on you. There are some sort of springs under the leather. Leather is lighter in the front corners and I was told to use brown shoe polish on it to darken the color back up to the rest of it. Rolls and swivels nicely and the height adjusts. It also has a spring loaded tilt that is adjustable. Chair sets nice. The way you see it in the pictures the seat height is 18 1/2" with a back height of 33" ... moreIt is 22 1/8" wide at the front of the arms-Outside measurements. Inside is 18 3/8" at the top of the arms. 18 1/2" where it meets the seat. Arms are 28 1/2" tall in the front, over 28 1/2" with the seat height set at 18 1/2" Seat is 21" wide by 18 1/2" deep. Leg spread is 20" across the closest points. Height will adjust about 3" higher and still have a good bit of threads left. Rollers have fenders on them to give it an airstream like look. It is a sound.solid,comfortable chair and well made. I am going to partially disassemble for shipping. The chair reattaches to the adjusting frame with 4 large screws.One of the wood screws is missing and will need replaced. I like to put a little glue on the screw threads before I seat them to lock them in place. I am going to pop the wheels off and they just pop back in their mounts. For sale I have an old desk or office style arm chair. I just had the piece reupholstered. Using an old shipping coffee sack. The chair has had the joints tightened, and the padding is new. My upholster used the old sack for fabric. The sack is old and we used the sack seams to trim the piece. I lightly sanded the chair, applied a dark stain then I waxed the wood. The piece had an unique look and can be used. The foot stool is not included but it is for sale in one of my other listings. It measures: 38 1/2" tall with back. 211/2" wide x 20" deep.
