The dimensions came from either measuring originals or from customers who wanted me to re-create their originals. Actually. This neat old Morris chair is as found and it is in excellent condition for its age and its as solid as the day it was made. It does show typical signs of wear from years of use but. Antique Morris Rocking Recliner With Foot Rest Mission Oak RESTORED 100% Rare!
Words can't describe how incredible this chair is. And how unique it is. This is a mission quarter sawn oak arts and crafts movement rocker recliner with a pull out foot rest. It has received a complete and total restoration.even the individual original nuts. Bolts, screws and hardware. It is finished in a nice satin clear to show the beauty of the 100+ year old wood. The upholstery is brand new suede upholstery fabric in black and all of the padding is up to date and brand new also.no worries about smoke smell or pet stains, it is all new. All of the hardware is finished in matte black to match the upholstery. It is much more comfortable to sit in than it originally was when it was new! The reclining mechanism is something that I have never seen. I have searched the web for a similar set up and came up with nothing. There are springs ... morebuilt inside the arms that allow you to sit in the chair and adjust the recline from a sitting position unlike other Morris type chairs. There are knobs on the sides that tighten the mechanism to hold it in the position that you choose. The arms were disassembled and the entire mechanism was restored to new condition. There was no expense or effort spared in this restoration. And yet the golden oak still retains the patina of 100 yo wood. There is a paper label on the bottom of the seat with the order number and factory 13 as well as the chair number 471. There is also a set of initials"J.G. as well as a signature"J.G. St?someone put a tack in the middle of the last name(see photos" I have been told by some that it looks like J.G. Stickley's signature. But I do not know for sure.Stickley did make a chair 471 that WAS a Morris chair, but they don't look like this one.maybe a prototype, one-off or special order? The original cover was very stiff brown oil cloth like on a buggy seat. It was in very bad condition and I could not find any reproduction fabric, the fabric I used is just as durable and protected with Scotch Guard, but is so much more comfortable.

Cushions are not original and were redone recently. One of spindles is broken in half but both pieces are there. Antique Haywood Bros. & Wakefield Mission Morris Reclining Chair
We're selling a beautiful. Antique mission-style Morris recliner. It was made by Heywood Bros. Wakefield Company and the original paper label is beneath the arm of the chair. I have a picture of it. A little research told me that Heywood Brothers& Wakefield Company merged in 1897 and the name changed to Heywood-Wakefield in 1921. This is a chair from the early 1900's. The oak wood is in beautiful condition. The recliner mechanism looks to be original and works beautifully. The cushions are made from a nice deep blue material which is very comfortable. The bottom of the chair legs have wooden casters. Dimensions: 28 3/4" across the arms- 30" arms front to back- 17 1/2" floor to seat- 40 1/2" floor to top of back cushion This is a great piece.antique. Vintage and comfortable. Antique Vintage Morris Chair, recliner, mission style, 501
This auction is for a Morris chair in the mission or arts& crafts style. I found this at a moving sale. So I don't know much about it. It reclines with a spring mechanism. The spring is very tight and snaps back quickly. There are castors that appear to be made of wood. One falls out every time I pick up the chair. There are some scratches and dings, a few small paint spots. There is a lighter spot on the arm where the price tag was. Overall, however, it is a beautiful piece of American furniture in lovely oak. It shows its age in some areas, but is still very sturdy and a work of conscientious craftsmanship. The only mark I see is the number 501 on a slat on the bottom of the seat. This item is pick up only from Brick, New Jersey.

A push button in the arm operates a mechanism to recline to about four different angles. Zippered cushions are newly upholstered in a design of the era. It's made from quarter sawn oak with smooth leather cushions in great shape and still has its original finish. This is an excellent piece of Mission/ Arts& Crafts furniture in a hard to come by condition. Please reference the photos for an example. With only one stand-out flaw. The chain that held the peg in the back has broken off. The rest of the condition is typical for a piece of mission furniture this old. Antique ORIGINAL STICKLEY Mission Oak Beautiful Dark Morris Chair With Label
Up for bids is this 1920's excellent all original including the nice dark finish Quaint Bros Stickley Bros Company form Grand Rapids Michigan Morris chair. This chair very tight and does not need any repair except one of the nail covers on the back is missing(see pic) The finish is dark but worn and there are a few large nicks to the wood. The cushion may be original as it is very heavy with what seems to be springs inside. I believe it is vinyl. Not leather. The chairs measures 27" arm to arm. 39 1/4" floor to top of back, 23" seat width and 19" deep.
