This is for one antique Globe-Wernicke set of two bookcase/cabinet pieces. Top and the bottom piece. What you see in the pic is what you get. The cabinet on the top does have the label. It reads" Globe-Wernicke Sectional Bookcase Made in Cincinnati Standard D-10 1/4 unit pattern 110 grade 598 1/2. The bottom cabinet piece does not have a label/ makers mark but it is identical to the top. The hardware looks fairly old. Does show age and wear. There are scratches and scuffs on wood. Collector's piece lawyers barrister stacking bookcase with a lovely dark reddish brown original finish. This is a rare double wide colonial barrister that comes apart for a total of 6 seperate pieces. The wood is Mahogany and is grade 598 1/2 the finest they made. The doors open and slide into the bookcase to protect the bookcases. This bookcase came from the library at Marymount college after it was closed. All sections that hold the books are labeled with a special label. Says Philadelphia. New York, London, and Paris. The base is also labeled A-C Double Colonial Drawer Base. The bookcase has two desireable drawers at the base of the bookcase. The bookcase is extremely well made with thick, heavy mahogany. It has the metal strappings on its sides. Two sections are 10 inch and two are 12 inch. The glass doors open and close properly. It has the Macey's logo on one of the sections. Wavy, original glass front, bookcase that includes top and pedestal(four pieces) Each section has a metal strip(often called"straps" that cover the joints between the sections, and also serve to lock one stack to another stack next to it. These straps are finished in oxidized finish. Knobs are made of brass. Outstanding condition for its age. Each have a few water stains on the top probably from glasses being set on them. This is an unusual size Globe Wernicke Stacking bookcase. In quarter sawn oak. It stands 51 1/4" tall, and only 25 1/2" wide, base is just a bit wider. It is 11 1/8" deep, and the base adds a bit more, to 12 1/2" deep. Shows some small scratches here and there, which I have tried to show in the pics. Vintage Oak Lawyers Stacking Bookcase Door Glass and Hardware GRM Grand Rapids I sold a vintage mission lawyers bookcase awhile back and the bottom section had been damaged so I sold only the remaining sections. This is the door and hardware that was removed from the bottom unit. It is the glass door that hooks on the sides of the bookcase unit with the hardware for the sides of the bookcase itself. The bookcase it was removed from was oak so this also should be oak. The glass is in perfect condition. No chips or cracks. The knob is not original. The door is in wonderful condition and has the hooks attached on the sides as shown. It measures 32 3/8' X 13½' X 13/16' I did notice that this door is higher than the other ones were and it was on a bottom unit. I'm not sure if all the screws are there but that's what we ... morehad to remove but a screw or two is not hard to find. Some of the parts have some minor surface rust which should clean up easily. Antique Globe Wernicke 6-Stack 299 Grade Oak Stacking Lawyers Barrister Bookcase
Up for bid is a wonderful 6-stack Globe Wernicke lawyers or barristers bookcase made of quartersawn oak. All sections are the very desirable Grade 299(quarter sawn/tiger oak with the medium finish) Has the very desirable ogee(curved) top and bottom. All sections are size D-10 1/4. Bookcase is ALL ORIGINAL. Original finish. Original wavy glass, original knobs on the doors. Bookcase is ALL COMPLETE. All labels are present and intact. All glass is present(no cracks or breaks) All felt along the tops of the doors is complete and intact. All scissors mechanisms are present. All acid-etched side bands are correct and present. I rescued over 20 sections from a storage room of an old Chicago school library, and these 6 sections were in the best condition. Condition of the sections is way above average for their age. After 100 years the finish on ... morethese cases has usually"alligatored" Not here. Although there are the usual scratches and chips in the finish, which is to be expected(there is a rub of white paint on the right side of one section shown in the photos) the outside finish is overall extremely smooth with a nice gloss. The very top has the most wear and scratches as the librarians slid and stacked items on top of the cases. There is also the reside from 2 old pieces of cellophane tape on the front of the top. I can find no delamination of the back panels, nor any bubbling of the veneer on the very top. Being in a library for so many years has preserved them nicely.
