I truly never noticed any flaws until inspecting it for this listing. I noticed that one leg has a piece missing at the top{you can see this on the top of the right leg in the 1st pic} and split at the bottom where a piece is missing. This does not affect the sturdiness/integrity of the use at all. There are light scratches. Of course, and a drip mark in the stain on one side of the Harp, which I had to inspect to find. I have included amplified photos of all this. The brass on the claw feet is what we call*Perfectly Patina-ed* so I wouldn't call that a flaw. Please inspect all pictures carefully as they are part of the description and please ask*all* questions in advance. I am describing everything as honestly as I can, and to the best of my ability, but I am not an expert. Beautiful smaller"Mersman" table. I'm no expert on furniture so if my specifics aren't accurate please forgive. I did some research and found out it is Duncan Phyfe style& on another web site they said it was the 1920's. There is beautiful detail all over. The wood has beautiful grain& is a redish/brown color. The tables I found like this all say Mahogany. These are getting harder to come by in such good condition. It's level. Has no warpage, has some marks/scratches relative to age. Has the brass cap feet on the legs that look like toes or claws. All spindles of the harp are there& secure. Normal useage marks on inside of drawer& has origanal pull. Is stamped Mersman on inside of drawer& on the bottom and is# 7211. Inside of drawer measures 16 3/4" in length at the center longest part X ... more15 1/8" wide, and is 2 1/4" deep. Table is 27 1/4" in height, 29 3/4" wide X 21 1/2" in depth. The Harp measures a nice 14 1/2" in length X 9 1/2" wide. I am selling this for a friend. 1939 Imperial Furniture Company Fold Over Table with Harp design
We recently acquired this lovely Imperial table from an estate sale. This is both a solid Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer Table. Possibly a game table. This table still has the“Imperial” green and gold label dating it to 1939. It also has the“Mahogany Association. Inc. 123” sticker and the gold metal“True Grand Rapids Cabinet Makers Certified I-7-7442” tag. This would have been under F. Stuart Foote who started the Imperial Furniture Company around 1903. It also has the#3806 on the underside of the table. This table has one half of the top fold over onto the other half creating a semi-circle similar to a sofa table or a game table. The tabletop further rotates to uncover a hidden compartment. The center post looks like a harp with a scrolling design on either side ending in four claw foot legs. This table stands 30 inches in height with the ... moretop folded over and29 ½ inches open. It is 34 inches wide when open and 17 inches wide when closed and 34 inches in length. The hidden compartment is 2 ½ inches deep. 10 ¾ inches across, 14 ¼ inches front to back at its widest(near the front curve) and 11 inches at the end where it is square. The harp shaped base is 9 ½ inches at its widest and 8 inches at the top where it connects at the table top. The legs are 28 ½ inches across the front. 19 inches apart from front to back. It is 7 inches from the floor to the base(top of the legs) of the harp. The feet are 1 ½ inches wide and 1 ½ inches tall. The legs flare to 1 ¾ inches at the top and 2 inches thick. Thanks for looking! Information regarding Mersman: J. B. Mersman was a 19th-century sawyer with mills in Angola and Kendallville in extreme northeastern Indiana. He relocated his operations across the state line to Ottoville. Ohio, and when the lumber business turned soft around 1876, he started making tables under the name Mersman Tables. From his first table, he went on to make beds and bed parts, too. So successful was he that the nearby city of Celina, Ohio solicited him to build a factory there and provided $7,500 of seed money for the operation. That turned out to be a good investment by the city fathers. He was up and running in Celina by 1900, making beds, library tables and dining tables. But the precision details that were required to successfully produce large volumes of furniture were not to the liking of the old sawmill operator. He turned the business over to his two oldest sons. Edward and Walter, and their partner Henry Lenartz, a banker. With the old business out of the way, Mersman headed for Arkansas to start up another sawmill operation. Up for sale is an antique telephone table with built-in Lyre magazine rack. This solid wood table features a bowed handle. Lovely curved table top with triple routed edges. the handled it attached with dowels to the table round uprights that are vertically routed resembling neoclassical table legs.The bottom of the table is a built-in Lyre shaped magazine rack. Seven individual slats, on each side of the the rack, are in bent into an attractive S-curves and held in place by compression into routed mortise and tenon slots. The magazine rack divider is solid wood with a lovely routed S-curve, one side of the tenon is exposed in the mortise. The table is very sturdy.
