We purchased some really interesting pieces from this collector as he is downsizing, and this antique oak dresser was refinished about 20-30 years ago, and we did a couple of touch ups. This fantastic oak dresser is in nice condition in a medium oak stain finish. It has two small concave front drawers on the top and a large bow front drawer in the base for plenty of storage. The Victorian dresser has cabriole carved columns coming down into a detail claw foot, panel sides, multi-molded rolled front above the drawers, carved yolks that hold up the mirror.

It has dainty brass handle hardware which I am not sure are original. The keyhole escutcheon are the big round medallions. The candle shelves have heavy incise carved burl front shelf supports, burl walnut trim going up the mirror and the big crest on top with a doorbell looking medallion on the top. The mirror is bevel glass, which is normally straight glass. The drawers are all hand cut dove tail. The overall size is 48 inches wide, 21 inches deep and 90 inches high overall.

Description: This listing is for a 20th Century Benchmade Chippendale Style Shell Carved Block Front Chest of Drawers over Ball and Claw Feet. This is an absolutely stunning work of art with attention shown in every detail of the case. The entire case is solid mahogany. With carefully selected grains that produce a glowing fire throughout. The rim is ruled around the front and sides over a top drawer with a gallery of three carved shells over the blocked encasements below. The two outmost shells are convex, carved out of solid mahogany, each flanking the concave central shell with a keyhole in the middle. The drawer has an incredible thick facade and, uniquely, no hardware- the key is meant to act as the pull hardware, the craftsman ... morenot wanting to distract from the shell carvings by adding hardware. The three following drawers feature incredible blocking over shaped molding that flows with the outline of the chest. Each drawer is hand dovetailed at the front and back, the top drawer having a single solid board bottom, each other drawer being two board construction. 6 Draw Bow front dresser. Overall height is 52 1/4" 35" wide at the leg. 32" wide at the top. 23 1/2" full depth at the top. 21 1/2" at both ends of the top. Thus the top is bowed 2" Top three draws are slightly narrower then the bottom three draws. Some minor blemishes for an 80 year old piece of furniture. Witness marks from something sitting on the top are small indention's. Stamped on the back of the top are the numbers 8006 and 38. I have no idea what they stand for. Draw pulls appear to be original with a branch and acorns in the center of each pull. Rich Mahogany wood and finish. Piece is very heavy. After all this is real wood, not particle board. Nicely complimenting ... morethe mahogany are eight new brass pulls. These pulls are quite attractive and add a little pizazz to the chest! When it was originally made. This chest of drawers was made using time honored techniques. One of these techniques is hand cutting dovetails to fit the drawers together. A dovetailed joint is stronger than any other and will ensure the drawers function and stay strong for many years. All four of the drawers open and close easily on wooden runners. A little difficult to see in the images, but the top drawer does have a wooden divider right in the center, effectively making the top drawer into two sections on the inside. We have rated this chest as excellent condition. Because of the recent French polish in England it is in excellent condition. The wood does have old indents here and there that is has acquired over its lifetime that add charm and character to the chest. Hand crafted from solid wood, mostly likely oak, this dresser is of quality construction, with dovetail joints and has a beautiful finish. Mounted-on castors make it easy to move this piece at will. It comes with the original, beautifully aged, oval mirror, however, the frame and support for the mirror is broken and/or missing parts. They were supposed to all be in a drawer in the dresser when purchased at Estate Sale in March, however, the mounting pieces were not included and the mirror frame is in multiple pieces and not entirely there. Most likely for a doll house but could be a salesman sample based on the quality scroll work on the drawer faces. This piece was all hand made and put together with nails. Each drawer has wonderful flowing design of acanthus leaves pressed into the face. Each drawer also has great wooden pulls. Based on the 2 holes in the back of the top this most likely had a mirror. Condition wise the is in very good shape for it's age. The drawers all ... moreslide open smooothly and fit nicely into the case. As mentioned there are two holes in the top that held a mirror which unfortunately I do not have. These could easily be filled with oak plugs or covered with a nice runner. The left side does have what appears to be a piece that started to tear out of the wood right along the grain. I think this was a flaw in the wood as the piece is only separated down about 1/2" and is solid below that and tight against the side. The nail at the bottom is not holding it on. That nail is holding the side to the rail. The top drawer bottom does have a piece that has separated but has been glued back on and is tight. The bottom drawer has piece that came off the side but this can easily be glued back on. This does have a few old worm holes in the middle drawer front and the back but no evidence any recent activity. Please see my photos for clarity and ask questions if you have any other concerns. Hi this is a great matching mahogany 12 drawer serpentine dresser and mirror in very good used condition. The mirror is a wall mounted mirror and does not attach to the dresser. I am willing to sell the mirror separately for the right price. The dresser is wonderful with a platform base and symmetrical sides with very cool curves. The dresser measures 60 1/4" long 20" deep and 33 1/2" tall. The top is 1 3/8" thick. The side drawers are 19" wide internally and graduated heights. The top is 3" then they get taller by an inch as you go down 4" 5" and 6" on the bottom. The mirror has no chips cracks or breaks and the silver is good and even throughout and it measures approximately 52" by 33 3/4" I am selling this for a friend who has had this in the family a long time and never mounted the ... moremirror over the dresser. Great shape dresser with both dovetailed front and back of drawers.Serpentine front, Claw feet and wooden casters. There is a small character flaw on bottom drawer that I think was a burn mark but not sure. Has nice cubby with Ornate carved door that has curved shape. The wooden back and top also are both in excellent shape! Is old and may have some scratches and flaws but overall is very nice and was refinished well. Casters all work good and easy!
