I originally took pictures of both together in the rain and then took individual shots so several angles could be seen on an individual basis as well.They sit solidly and slightly rock so very comfortably and are heavy and well made. The upholstery has some wear but no major tears or rips. The chrome on one chair has some areas where worn chrome has been repainted with"chrome" paint but overall the chairs' overall tubular steel framework looks very nice. The real neat aspect of these chairs is that they recline as shown so there are 3 simply adjustable positions on both for casual times. The overall frame is very solid and the seats are very comfy. 4 Antique 1929 Art Deco/Industrial Folding Chairs Steel/Plum Cloth Unusual
Designer is A. S. HAGEMAN. Folded they are 36 3/4" tall by 16 3/4" wide-17" wide at the foot caps. Ready to set in seat is 18" tall. Back is 31 3/4" Seat is 13 3/4" wide by 13" deep. 2 have their makers tags-2 don't. Tags read Foldwell Air City Mfg Co Dayton Ohio with patent numbers of 1698898 and 1698697 which are 1929. One also had a cloth tag showing the date of manufacture of July 10 1929. Frames are steel with a gold paint on them- wear to the gold paint. Material is cloth and a violet/plum purple. They are very well made and sturdy and have a great style with the arches and twist to the steel. They weigh about 12 lbs each. They have an assortment of mixed rubber feet on them. Several have a wobble to them setting by themselves but when you set in them they are sturdy with no wobble except for one ... moreas it is missing a rubber foot. Those feet are not original and need replaced. They still make similar feet. It looks like 40 to 50 years ago they ran around the bottom of the feet with the old oil impregnated cloth electrical tape to thicken them up so those feet would stay on securely. On one the upholstery is loose in the very front and slightly torn there. You can tuck it back under the frame but you need to make it stay somehow. Maybe staple it to the wood frame of the seat. Also at the very top back arch on the gold paint is marked H.H. WEBB for the previous owner years ago. It is marked in black stencil paint. The black is very faded. These not only look good set up but they look good folded with them showing all the curved arches/supports. All the arches not only give it a good look they also give it good strength. 2 Machine Age Industrial Art Deco BTC Hostess Folding Chairs 1900's Steel Vinyl
A pair of early 1900's steel and leatherette Art Deco folding chairs. Manufactured by The Brewer Titchener Corp. out of Cortland. NY, USA. The brand is called Hostess. These modernist. Prohibition era seats fold differently than our modern folding chairs. Rather than the seat folding up towards the back, the back of the chair folds down into the seat, making them perfectly flat. Ingenious design. Wear is commensurate with age and use. The feet are angled and have rubber covers. Some cracks in rubber feet(See photos 10.11) Some expected patination is apparent on the coated metal and minimal rust. One seat has 2 small(1/2 inch) tears in the leatherette seat cushion.See last photo) However. Despite the wear, they are sturdy, serviceable and have a distinctive presence. Some of the bolts are not original but you would never notice. One chair is missing one bolt. Easy to replace at almost any home improvement store. I would prefer these were picked up in person but I will ship anywhere in the continental United States for 145.00. In order to ship the chairs they will need to be disassembled. Because the chairs bolts are square and they have brackets it takes some time to disassemble and will take time to reassemble. Four matching heavy-duty vintage industrial enameled steel perforated folding chairs- Lyon Mfg. Co. Aurora, IL. The set of four matching unique vintage industrial riveted joint heavy gauge steel folding chairs retain their original army green enameled finish. The unique pierced or perforated design along the seat and contoured backrest create a softer look then solid metal. There heavy-duty construction is why they still survive. Each chair is incised with the manufacturer’s name on the top of the backrest and the number 2/ 50 on the back of each seat possibly the year made though I thought they might be earlier. They are all structurally sound and stable with loss of paint. Scratches, scrapes and corrosion from mild to medium. The worse rust is located below the seat at the footrest and lower legs. I scrubbed them up and they really are ... morespecial. The white feet are worn on all chairs with several missing. The feet may be able to be purchased new at an industrial supply company. Set of FOUR Very Rare Vintage 1920's Stakmore Industrial Folding Chairs
Here is a vintage set of FOUR very rare 1920s folding chairs by the Stakmore Company of New York. They have been in my family since they were new and seldom used so they are in superb condition! The leather( seats have no cracks or blemishes. They are strong. Sturdy chairs that still have a lot of serviceable time left. They were very well designed so they cannot tip, and it is impossible to lean back in them! And although they don't look it, they are even quite comfortable! One of the chairs has some slight cracks in the plywood( underneath the seat. This can probably be easily remedied with a little glue. see the last chair photo) Each chair weighs 7-8 lbs. and measures 36" high. 17" wide, and 1-1/4" deep. Five NICE 1920s Stakmore BENTWOOD Oak & Steel INDUSTRIAL AGE FOLDING CHAIRS

REPEATEDLY CLICK THE RELOAD BUTTON OF YOUR BROWSER Patent dated June 23. 1925, this set of five 17" wide x 17" deep expanded x 36" high industrial age Stakmore, Aristocrats of Folding Furniture, marked solid bent oak hard wood and metal folding chairs in good, used condition with original canvas seat covers have normal finish wear and surface scratching from use, folding, stacking& storage. The plywood seat underlayment on one chair is somewhat brittle, has buckled and has splits. One chair has a long gouging scratch to one curved bentwood side. One contoured arched back support on another chair has a small base chip. Although some of the material tacks need replacing, the canvas material on all five chairs is in good condition with no tearing. Three of the five blue Stakmore paper labels ... moreremain. With a little linseed oil/turpentine solution& some fine steel wool to clean these chairs, you won't need to go the refinishing route. Once cleaned& oiled, there's much good use left to this great set of 1920s vintage industrial age chairs. Only two of the chairs have the Stakmore brand burned into the undersides of the seats. Manufactured by the Buffington Co. NYC. Unless the buyer makes arrangements on their end to have these chairs picked up and delivered with the shipping of their choice, this is a PICK UP ONLY sale. i have for auction a set of 4 early 1900's steel and leatherette Art Deco folding chairs. Manufactured by The Brewer Titchener Corp. out of Cortland. NY, USA. The brand is called Hostess. These modernist. Prohibition era seats fold differently than our modern folding chairs. Rather than the seat folding up towards the back, the back of the chair folds down into the seat, making them perfectly flat. Ingenious design. Wear is great condition for age. These are sturdy. Serviceable and have a distinctive presence. These are a darker green then picture shows Measurements: Folded flat the chairs measure: 36"H x 16.5"W x 2"D- Extended the chairs measure: 32"H at the back x15" Deep at the Seat x15" Wide at the seat.
