This was well taken care of and moved only once in the past 50 years. 6 pieces.base 9 in. and top 4 in. 4 sliding glass door sections that measure.1 at 13 1/2 in.1 at 10 1/2 in. and 2 at 12 inches for a total height of 62 1/2 inches.34 1/2 in. wide by 11 in.deep. Antique Globe Wernicke 6-Stack 299 Grade Oak Stacking Lawyers Barrister Bookcase
Up for bid is a wonderful 6-stack Globe Wernicke lawyers or barristers bookcase made of quartersawn oak. All sections are the very desirable Grade 299(quarter sawn/tiger oak with the medium finish) Has the very desirable ogee(curved) top and bottom. All sections are size D-10 1/4. Bookcase is ALL ORIGINAL. Original finish. Original wavy glass, original knobs on the doors. Bookcase is ALL COMPLETE. All labels are present and intact. All glass is present(no cracks or breaks) All felt along the tops of the doors is complete and intact. All scissors mechanisms are present. All acid-etched side bands are correct and present. I rescued over 20 sections from a storage room of an old Chicago school library, and these 6 sections were in the best condition. Condition of the sections is way above average for their age. After 100 years the finish on ... morethese cases has usually"alligatored" Not here. Although there are the usual scratches and chips in the finish, which is to be expected(there is a rub of white paint on the right side of one section shown in the photos) the outside finish is overall extremely smooth with a nice gloss. The very top has the most wear and scratches as the librarians slid and stacked items on top of the cases. There is also the reside from 2 old pieces of cellophane tape on the front of the top. I can find no delamination of the back panels, nor any bubbling of the veneer on the very top. Being in a library for so many years has preserved them nicely. Overall size of the bookcase is 84" tall x 34" wide x 12" deep. If you need more photos. Or have additional questions, please email me. Antique estate find! This was found in a storage unit that was slam full of antiques and had been in storage for over 35 years. It is believed to be between 75 to 100+ years old! There is wear. Scuffs, scratches, etc as to be expected with age, use, transport, and storage. It has not been cleaned or dusted.could use a good cleaning. There is a sticker on each piece of glass, but the glass is in excellent condition. One of the knobs/pulls is missing and has been replaced with a type of screw as a temporary fix. For sale are three(3) antique barrister bookcase modular STACKS. With"lift and slide" glass doors. Each bookcase is stack of six(6) modular sections that rest on top of each other, sitting on a foundation"base" frame, and completed with a crowning"capital" frame. The photos show the complete bookcases and details. The approximate dimensions are(L) x(W) x(H) Base frame: 3' x 1' x 2.5" Bottom modular section: 3' x 1' x 16" Middle modular section: 3' x 1' x1' Capital frame: 3' x 1' x 3" TOTAL height is approximately 81.5" or 6.79' I'm not an antique professional. However, the cases were examined and we were told they may be real Globe Wernicke, or crafted in the same style. The bookcases are quite nice, appear old, are dark wood, some modules have mitered ... moreglass, all are without labels. We inherited them from a friend who passed away that was a lawyer. This collection of bookcases is interesting because the top capitals are fashioned to come together forming an"L" shape to accommodate a corner. Known Flaws: One bookcase stack. The lower modular section needs glass replacement, and its middle section some repair work to the glass door frame. Another stack is also missing the glass from the lower modular section. The lawyer didn't mind and purchased the cases this way. We have all parts given to us, meaning small pieces of hardware, which are few. There is also gentle wear and markings expected with furnishing of this sort. Over all, very good. The bookcases are beautiful. Will keep your books dust free, and will compliment any home or office. This is a stack of 6 9" sections. I am selling 4 and offering the other 2 as a bonus.one has some veneer on one end that needs to be re-glued and the other has the veneer on the inside bottom that needs re-gluing also. The 4 are in good condition.all of the glass doors are good with no cracks and all have working mechanisms. Antique Oak 6 Stack Lawyers Bookcase original finish
You are bidding on a Oak 6 stack lawyers cabinet with top and base. This is in original finish and the finish is worn, all original glass, missing 3 of the brass knobs for the doors, the back side of a couple of the sections the outer layer of wood is missing, this is not visible when against the wall, One door unit does not slide well, something with the roller on the right side. Unit measures 79 3/4 inches high and 34 inches wide and 11 1/2 inches deep. Nice old piece, just needs a home. This is for pick up only, we are located in Hermann, Mo. Delivery can be arranged within about 200 miles.
