I have spent endless hours locating a source for these knobs. This auction is for 2(two) AGED/BURNISHED) base knobs. Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. The aging and burnish process takes a 5 step process and can be hazardous to perform. The aging/burnishing is done at essentially cost. See our ad for Aging Solution. If you want the knobs polished it is an additional please see the other ad. This set is complete. All original, and shows no damage. These shelves were previously owned by a retired judge for Mercer county. This vintage bookcase is in excellent condition- all shelves have the original glass(wavy from time) original knobs, and all labels are present. You are buying the 4 legged base ONLY for the sectional bookcase you see in the pictures. I repeat-just the base. The top cap and 4 sections are listed in other sales. The base is 10" tall and 33" wide by 13" deep. It fits under a bookcase that has an indented top of 31 9/16" wide by 12 1/8" deep. It does have some rust but is solid and needs cleaned and paint. The rest of the description describes the rest of the bookcase which you might need to see if this fits yours.These never had doors and are slightly taller than the ones that you find with doors. Size is just over 33" wide by 13" deep by 17 1/8" tall to the very top. The section that shows when stacked is 16 7/8" tall. The very top of the cabinet is a little smaller so that the base of the next section can lock into it. The smaller section ... moreat the very top is 31 9/16" wide by 12 1/8" deep. I have 4 of these cabinets that make up the larger stack. You are buying one with the chance to buy additional if you are the first buyer. If you buy more than one you need to buy one-pay for it-then buy the next-pay-and so on. I cannot combine shipping and ebay will combine it by weight and their combined invoice will be wrong. As you see the total structure it stands 80" counting the top cap and bottom base. There is lots of wear and scratching/loss to the paint and they could use cleaned up better.Some have writing and old tape on them. One of the sections has 2 holes drilled in the right side that you can see in a picture. The one picture shows the top inside of the cabinet. The only piece that is signed is the top cap. There is rust on the base but not much rust on anything else. The cabinets weigh 32 lbs each before packing and will incur even more dimensional weight by the shippers due to their size. Up for sale is this barrister bookcase base and top. There is no label so I don't know the precise maker. The base is missing its bottom panel. There is some veneer loss/damage to the top along with other wear and tear, so please know that these are a refinishing project. The top measures about 34" across and 12" wide including the lip on the very top. The base is about 12 1/2" wide including the lip at the very bottom, and 34" across. The last photo shows how the top fits on a Macey D12 section, those sections are about 11 1/8"

Here’s a 5 stack Globe- Wernicke barrister bookcase in beautifully figured quarter sawn oak. It’s complete with top and base. These are older turn of the century bookcases. The unit measures 69 7/8” high. 34” wide, and 11” deep. The labels read, from top to bottom: D 10 ¼-299, 108-299, 110-299, D10 ¼-299, D10 ¼-299. All units measure 11 ½” inside, top to bottom except 108-299 which measures 9 5/8” These are from my Mother’s estate and are in very good condition-probably close to 100 years old so obviously there may be a minor scuff or nick—but not many. All have the original wavy glass and brass knobs. Metal sidebands are naturally worn. The wood has beautiful patina and lovely grain pattern. These are pickup only at my home in Fenton, Michigan 48430. I also have 11 additional units in various sizes that are negotiable ... moreif the buyer wishes more. Very nice looking all original early 1900's Macey 3 stack barristers bookcase. This one is in very good condition with all original wavy glass and great looking tiger oak. Dimensions are 57H X 34W X 14 D. A few minor imperfections such as the hole thru the back of one of the units.It won't be noticeable when you put books in in though and a small chip of wood missing out of the corner of the bottom unit. Globe-Wernicke & Macey Barrister Bookcase Section and base - 8 inch inside depth

This base section is marked Globe-Wernicke. I do not see any maker's name on the bookcase section but am sure it is Macey- both fit together well. I believe I refinished both of these about 35 years ago when I did a lot of restoration work with barrister's book case sections- they are ready to use. They are the standard length of about 34 inches. But I believe the 8 inch inside depth is narrower than most Globe-Wernicke sections I used to have. To be more specific. The measurement from the inside face of the door to the front of the back panel is 8 inches. The overall height of the bookcase section measured on the outside at one end is about 10.5 inches. This is a ca. 1900-1905 ogee quartered oak Fred Macey"D" Stacking Bookcase Base. It has a golden oak finish. Measuring 12" Deep, 34" Wide, and 7" tall. The Macey stamp under the section reads"Macey Sectional Bookcase Unit 97" Its in overall very good condition with original finish. Condition: There is some rubbing to the finish on the one side and over all appears a little"dry" lost luster slightly. Otherwise very good and still very tight and sturdy. There are cosmetic conditions to the legs.some marks and dings and some light scratches.a drip of what looks to be paint on Back/wall side of rear leg as shown in pic#9.FRONT and SIDES are in Nice Decent Presentable Shape. VERY STURDY and Completely Structurally Sound.measures by my eye 34 1/4 long 11 3/8 wide by 7 1/4" high. PLEASE BE SURE TO TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT ALL THE PICS.
