Each of the drawers has a working lock and the key is included. There are 3 glass shelves on the upper center and 6 wood shelves in the upper left and right unit. Each of lower doors conceals one wood shelf. The upper unit is lighted but the current cord should be replaced. This item is in wonderful antique condition with only minor signs of age appropriate wear as pictured. The original antique bubble glass is free from breaks or damage which is very hard to come by. The backing to the upper unit looks to be lined in a off white colored wall paper and there is a red drip stain to this surface as seen in image#18 on the lower left side. Wear to the finish on one of the shelves can also be seen in image#18. Breakfront measures 92"h x 72"w x 16"d in total. The upper unit measures 56"h x 70"w x 12"d. Wonderful Arts & Craft - Art Deco Leaded Stain Glass Door Bookcase From England
This auction is for an older Oak bookcase from England. It has both an Art Deco Look to it as well as Arts& Craft overtures. It's a very well made bookcase and quite heavy for it's size. It has a pretty leaded and stained glass door. One of the pieces of the blue glass has some cracks in it. The glass is still tight and intact but the cracks are there. See pictures below. It's a wonderful bookcase for it's age and it's compact size would allow in to go into any room or office. It has held up very well for it's age. It's Solid Oak except for the back panel which is oak veneer. The shelves can be adjusted to different heights. It is 23 1/4" wide. 10 1/8" deep and 42 1/4" tall. Art Deco Two-Door Shield Shaped Bookcase
I have had this stylish art deco bookcase in my bedroom for about 40 years and loved it. But my home is Victorian and I'm finally getting around to unifying the furniture to pre-1900 pieces. It's a little over 4 feet tall, similar in width and quite sturdy; I used it to hold heavy music scores and reference books and it was easily able to accommodate them, in spite of its graceful, somewhat delicate appearance. The shield profile is very elegant and the curved dividers in the glass doors are so unusual and attractive. I know the piece deserves a more prominent place than the one where I used it(tucked alongside a piano where almost no one ever saw it) The wood veneer is excellent quality, but there are some small chips to mention, all really in the lower right region. I don't believe they would be difficult repair. One of the ... morepanes of glass also has a missing piece. The bookcase had these blemishes when it was purchased in the late 1960s and I never got around to fixing them; they never bothered me enough, I guess. If you are the winning bidder. I want you to be thrilled with the purchase. Returns, however, will not be accepted, due to the high costs(and risk of damage) incurred when shipping fragile valuable items back and forth. As the before and after photos below show.They definitely have been well used over the years; I quite imagine ... morethem having probably decorated the love nest of one of Al Capone's molls, or perhaps once graced the boardroom of a high flying all American company with a name such as Acme Railroad, Big Iron, Steel, and Bananas prior to being abandoned in some red-brick warehouse after the Crash of'29. The case shown on the left in the photos below of the pair is the one I chose for this project mainly due to the fact that it presented a challenge and I was not about to allow the poor packaging job of the gentleman who sold it to me. Which rendered the top split twice in a precarious place, stand in the way of bringing this pair back to life. NOTE- the second shelf will be sold at a later date. Notice in the first photo below that the there is a missing piece of wood from a previous split running on the upper left backside.
