It doesn’t appear to have ever been used. It was sitting in the attic. The finish is dark and aged to a lovely patina. I believe the seat is original. It has a dainty carved press back, multi-turn spindles, knuckle arms, multi-turn spindles on the platform base and original castors. This is a great find for those who love original finish antiques. The overall size is 23 inches wide across the arms, 17 inches wide on the seat, 19 inches deep, 40 inches high to the chair back, 26 inches high to the arm and 16 inches high to the seat. The platform has two coil springs that allows the rocking chair top to ride on the platform base.

This Rocker Was Made By Conant& Bush of Gardner, Mass* It Was Never Painted This Rocker Was Purchased For A Woman Named Jessie Who Was Born In 1888 Her Baby Picture Will Accompany Her Rocker On the back of her baby picture is written"Jessie Born 1888 in Hampton. N.H. This exceptional rocking chair is made of rattan. Reed, and cane. It is in very good antique condition. The chair used to have a caned seat and back. When the center cane pieces broke. Possibly because Jessie stood on it, a wooden seat was placed over the top of the original caned seat. That seat ... morehas holes some of which form at star. There are several pieces of wound reed missing. Examples are shown in photos 6-8. One area has been bound with copper wire soldered into place. There are a couple of other areas along the chair's arms where the reed binding is broken or is missing. This is simply a stunning and authentic child's reed. Caned rocker that is 133 years old! As of the time I listed this rocking chair. Another Ebay seller was selling a envelope and stamp postmarked 1885 by the chair's makers Conant& Bush. This rocking chair is approx. 23" high. Across the arms the chair is 17 1/2" The back is 15 1/2" high and 15 7/8" wide.

This charming little wicker rocking chair is small enough for a child to fit comfortably. It was in my room as a child and I have had it my whole adult life. A piece of wicker on the backseat is missing. And a cross piece under the seat is gone as seen in the photos. The seat is upholstered in linen. Two antique oak chairs. One a rocker. Both are in very nice condition with a little restoration to each having been done to them. They have had new faux cane seats put on them, and on the back of the rocker. The caning is made of a plastic material. When looking closely you can see old nail holes around the cane seat from the previous original seat. Also believe some of the underside side stretchers might be newer. Fantastic Antique. Victorian Walnut Hand-Carved Child's Rocking Chair is in very nice condition for it's age. It has on the front left leg a very old repair which was expertly patched with a metal can lid and nails to seal it. Under normal circumstances a repair would make a piece decrease in value, This wonderful repair was done with love and makes this piece even more charming. The left arm is a little loose and an easy fix. A small crack on top of left arm right at the screw. The patina to the wood is gorgeous and original to the chair. The chair measures 25" inches tall and 14 1/4" inches across. There are no identifying marks. Enjoy!
