This amazing antique piece measures a whopping 40"L x 20"D x 21.5"H, Which makes it PERFECT for use as a decorative coffee table(which can also hold TONs of your stuff! As you can see in my photos. This baby has history! The trunk shows patina on the monogram canvas and hardware. Which just adds to it's character if you ask me! There is some damage to the canvas on one side- see photo below- but the trunk is sturdy and absolutely ready for display! And if you look closely. ANTIQUE LOUIS VUITTON ROUNDED TOP LEATHER STEAMER TRUNK CIRCA 1854 to 1867
This is a numbered leather rounded top steamer trunk circa 1854 to 1867. The company started in 1854 and in 1867 changed the look to canvas and the top to a flat surface for better stacking. This trunk has a little recent damage to one outside corner from my daughters cats scratching but I think that can be smoothed out with the right tool. The trunk is over 100 years old so the outside is worn but it is in good condition in spite of the scratches. The inside is in beautiful condition with a wonderfully intack. Clean tray and 3 compartments below the tray with the ties still there to hold your clothes down? The outside leather handles are still there and in good condition. I never allowed anyone to move the trunk by using these handles. I also have a key to the trunk. There are, it seems to me, old European hotel sticker marks on the outside. ... moreI actually have some of these old, beautifully colored stickers from the 1950's or earlier that I would sell separtley. This piece of luggage is a real collectable Louis Vuitton and in better condition than any I have seen sold at other sales. This is a 110% authentic and genuine antique Louis Vuitton Steamer wardrobe upright trunk dating back to 1913. It's in remarkably great condition. It has all the original hardware with 5 wheels(4 on the bottom and 1 on the side) and 2 handles. The wheel on the side allows the trunk to open easily when it stands on one end. This was convenient when it was used as a wardrobe trunk. The monogram canvas. The wooden slats on the bottom, the locks, the nails, and the leather straps are all marked with LV and/or Louis Vuitton. It is hand painted and monogrammed with the initials L.J.P- it was once used as a wardrobe trunk, the tray is gone but the cedar slat is still there. The front lock says 1 Rue Scribe, Paris, Louis Vuitton, London, 149 New Bond Street, Made In France. The lock number is 039456. This one also has 149 New Bond St. London on the left side& 70 Champs Elysess on the right side of the main latch catch. It measures 29 3/4 L X 8 1/2" H X 18 1/8" W. There are also pieces of tape on the inside lid. There is some age related wear& scratches. It used as luggage on cruises& hotels& has some staining inside. It does have the tray. 3. The largest& newest of the three. It also has EPW handpainted on each end. The serial# is 907716. The handle has some wear. But the trunk itself has very little. The inside has little or no wear at all. Looks new. I checked at the LV store in Atlanta& found the same size bag listed for over $7.800.00. Not sure of the age maybe the 70's or 80's. Vintage Antique Louis Vuitton Trunk 1910 Calfskin Special Order Leather France
Very nice. Solid Louis Vuitton calfskin trunk dating from between 1909 and 1915. Excellent patina to the leather, with no major spots- just an overall golden honey aging. It was found in a well-kept old barn, and all I've done is dust it off- I'll let you condition and polish it how you see fit. The trunk is an elegant size measuring 25" wide, 11"high, and 13" deep. The brass hardware is in excellent condition. The lock inscribed'BTE S.G.D.G. PATENT, LOUIS VUITTON, 1. RUE SCRIBE PARIS, LONDON 149. NEW BOND STREET, MADE IN FRANCE' and numbered 028224. Louis Vuitton is stamped on the larger bolts and LV on the two outer latches. The beautiful label has the first 4 shops' addresses, dating it to post-Lille(1909) and pre-Champs-Elysees(1915) The two sides are embossed with the owner's letters"McL" ... moreThe calfskin trunks are rare because they were more expensive, and all special orders, meaning they didn't make them and have them hanging around the shop- they were custom made, so the initials were embossed on the leather before it was made, as it would be impossible after, unlike painted initials. The interior is lined with ivory linen, with fittings for one removable tray. Interior stamped with number 168673. There are overall scrapes, and chipping to the top edges, where some leather has worn away. The handle looks to be not original- my guess is the original one wore off and this one fit, so it was strapped on. This was likely a very prized trunk from the early days of the golden age of travel. Perfect for the discerning decorator. Very solid and the lid operates smoothly, and there are no problems with hardware- although I've never fully pressed in the center lock clasp for fear it would stay locked. This antique Louis Vuitton steamer trunk most likely dates to the turn of the 20th century. I would guess the early 1900s based on my research. I do have an inquiry placed with Louis Vuitton to try to determine exact purchase date and price, which they say they may be able to supply me with. This trunk has some old water damage, as shown in photos, but is in very good condition overall considering. The original insert is here and the trunk opens and closes as it should. The trunk is clearly marked LV in many areas and has the original canvas strap, which is also clearly marked. The trunk is marked with a large, red H. This fine piece of luxury luggage is in very good vintage condition with wear consistent with it's age and use. It is a wood strapped. Cloth bound, steamer trunk covered in the classic and desirable LV monogram canvas exterior. The trunk's interior label. Stating it's Paris and London origins, is perfectly intact. The adjacent stamped serial or maker's#143620 is easily readable and suggests a best guess date of production to be circa early 1900's. The trunk measures approximately 43" wide, 22" deep, and 23" tall. There is also the family name of"Gemley" imprinted clearly on both ends of the trunk. The cloth interior of the trunk is very clean and in very good condition. It is free of rips. Tears, or splits, and there are no stains or odors. This same description applies to the 2 interior trays ... moreor drawer inserts. The 2 levels of storage compartment trays are fully intact including all woven straps, tie downs, and carrying handles. The trunk's exterior is in good to very good overall condition. Antique Louis Vuitton Top Hat Box / Half Trunk - RARE
I have not been able to find this Louis Vuitton hat box anywhere on the internet. And I have been looking for over 10 years. I am assuming it is quite rare. I am not a collector, but I believe this antique LV belongs in a collector's house or a museum, with other fine LV pieces. I know very little of its history, but what I do know is it came over from Europe with a woman who immigrated here(Through Ellis Island) and ended up in New Mexico. The box is lightweight, and made of a type of hardened leather, that is as hard as plastic, and thin. Very understated design for Louis Vuitton, with small brass clasps on each side, a strap across the top that has a place in the hardware for a small lock to be inserted into(lock not included) Please message me for any additional information or pictures. serial number reads 734486. And is embossed ... moreboth in the lid and in the inside of the box. LV label is embossed in the leather on the two opposite clasped sides of the box. The cities mentioned on the label, Paris, Nice, Lille, and London lead me to believe this piece is somewhere around the mid 1910's, but this is just an educated guess. The noticeable age wear is a 3 inch split in the lid(see picture) with a small hole resulting(looks easily repaired) Also, the bottom is warped, and the leather is a bit wavy. And opens and closes perfectly, but clearly has cosmetic issues; the leather handles are gone, the interior lacks its tray and is quite stained. It does show signs of normal vintage wear for being over 100 yrs old. But with that wear and patina comes character and a story of elegant taste well traveled. I think even as a coffee or end table and I've had some customers get lucite boxes made around them to use as tables as well and create a floating look inside. Antique 1909 Louis Vuitton steamer trunk in very good original condition
This beautiful 1909 Louis Vuitton monogrammed trunk(serial# 167505) was used by Nettie(nee Becker) Carlson when she emigrated from Germany to Whitewater. Wisconsin, in the early 1900’s. It has been unused and well preserved in a closet since 1968. One of the front panels was lightly painted over(see photo) but no other changes or restorations have been made. It has all original elements, including the leather top strap and two removable compartments, except for one inside compartment divider and the key to the lock. Both compartments contain fabric enclosures with LV brass buckles and LV name on fabric straps. There is some expected wear but the trunk is in very fine overall condition. The lock is stamped and marked Louis Vuitton London. This is a genuine Louis Vuitton Suitcase from early 1900's. 17" tall x 21 1/4" long x 8 1/2" deep. Traditional brown leather design with the LV logo all over it. Leather edges. Brass on corners. There is a scratch on one side that is very noticeable.this is also the side that someone has added two pieces of wood to make a bottom rest. I suppose to try to protect it. Trunk Description: Approximate measurements: 30” wide. 15” tall, 15” deep. A travel trunk manufactured and labeled by Louis Vuitton of Paris. France, circa early 1900's. A leather covered trunk with leather corner bindings and brass latches, lock, and rivets. The trunk serial number is 181974, stamped on the inside lining next to the label as typical. The Louis Vuitton signature style label, showing the Paris and London retail addresses, is in very good condition. The trunk was made sometime between about 1910 to 1930 based on the serial number, but only the Louis Vuitton company has the records which can identify the actual age of the trunk. The brown leather covering shows typical signs of aging and wear, and there is a small piece missing on the front of the lid. The leather corner binding is in good condition with some rubbed spots. ... moreThe center leather tie-down strap is missing, but the leather strap holders are present except the one over the lock. The two side handles are missing and the rivcts for the handles holders are present. There are several partial paper travel stickers on the trunk which do not add any specific history for the trunk. The interior lift out trays are missing as well as the lower divider pieces which are removable. The lining is in fair to good condition with some small stains and small tears. The leather on the bottom of the trunk is aged and cracked, but present and the three wood slats are all marked with the name and have the original iron rollers. This trunk was advertised by Louis Vuitton as a flat top“Boot and Shoe Trunk” according to descriptions from early Louis Vuitton catalogs. Sizes of these trunks varied a little over the years. But this style and size indicate it was a Ladies Boot and Shoe Trunk. Antique Louis Vuitton Trunk Hardware
Up for bid are authentic Louis Vuitton solid brass trunk parts that I salvaged from the remains of an old trunk. The parts need a thorough cleaning and polishing. Most parts. Except for the handles and latches show the wear from handling over the years. There are around 100 brass top nails that I removed from the trunk. The trunk was so well made that I had to cut some of the nails off but they can still be used for decorative parts.
