This antique steamer trunk was made by LOUIS VUITTON and features their signature monogram canvas! This amazing antique piece measures a whopping 40"L x 20"D x 21.5"H, Which makes it PERFECT for use as a decorative coffee table(which can also hold TONs of your stuff! As you can see in my photos. This baby has history! The trunk shows patina on the monogram canvas and hardware. Which just adds to it's character if you ask me! There is some damage to the canvas on one side- see photo below- but the trunk is sturdy and absolutely ready for display! And if you look closely. ANTIQUE LOUIS VUITTON ROUNDED TOP LEATHER STEAMER TRUNK CIRCA 1854 to 1867
This is a numbered leather rounded top steamer trunk circa 1854 to 1867. The company started in 1854 and in 1867 changed the look to canvas and the top to a flat surface for better stacking. This trunk has a little recent damage to one outside corner from my daughters cats scratching but I think that can be smoothed out with the right tool. The trunk is over 100 years old so the outside is worn but it is in good condition in spite of the scratches. The inside is in beautiful condition with a wonderfully intack. Clean tray and 3 compartments below the tray with the ties still there to hold your clothes down? The outside leather handles are still there and in good condition. I never allowed anyone to move the trunk by using these handles. I also have a key to the trunk. There are, it seems to me, old European hotel sticker marks on the outside. ... moreI actually have some of these old, beautifully colored stickers from the 1950's or earlier that I would sell separtley. This is a 110% authentic and genuine antique Louis Vuitton Steamer wardrobe upright trunk dating back to 1913. It's in remarkably great condition. It has all the original hardware with 5 wheels(4 on the bottom and 1 on the side) and 2 handles. The wheel on the side allows the trunk to open easily when it stands on one end. This was convenient when it was used as a wardrobe trunk. The monogram canvas. The wooden slats on the bottom, the locks, the nails, and the leather straps are all marked with LV and/or Louis Vuitton. It is hand painted and monogrammed with the initials L.J.P- it was once used as a wardrobe trunk, the tray is gone but the cedar slat is still there. The front lock says 1 Rue Scribe, Paris, Louis Vuitton, London, 149 New Bond Street, Made In France. The lock number is 039456. This antique Louis Vuitton steamer trunk most likely dates to the turn of the 20th century. I would guess the early 1900s based on my research. I do have an inquiry placed with Louis Vuitton to try to determine exact purchase date and price, which they say they may be able to supply me with. This trunk has some old water damage, as shown in photos, but is in very good condition overall considering. The original insert is here and the trunk opens and closes as it should. This fine piece of luxury luggage is in very good vintage condition with wear consistent with it's age and use. It is a wood strapped. Cloth bound, steamer trunk covered in the classic and desirable LV monogram canvas exterior. The trunk's interior label. Stating it's Paris and London origins, is perfectly intact. The adjacent stamped serial or maker's#143620 is easily readable and suggests a best guess date of production to be circa early 1900's. The trunk measures approximately 43" wide, 22" deep, and 23" tall. There is also the family name of"Gemley" imprinted clearly on both ends of the trunk. The cloth interior of the trunk is very clean and in very good condition. It is free of rips. Tears, or splits, and there are no stains or odors. This same description applies to the 2 interior trays ... moreor drawer inserts. The 2 levels of storage compartment trays are fully intact including all woven straps, tie downs, and carrying handles. The trunk's exterior is in good to very good overall condition. Beautiful Louis Vuitton Antique/Vintage Steamer Trunk up for auction. Made in France! The trunk in my opinion is in good condition. It does show signs of normal vintage wear for being over 100 yrs old. But with that wear and patina comes character and a story of elegant taste well traveled. This would be an amazing display or conversation piece. I think even as a coffee or end table and I've had some customers get lucite boxes made around them to use as tables as well and create a floating look inside. So many possible ideas with this unique piece of history. This is the Holy Grail of Fashion history! The trunk is early 1900's. The highest model you could have bought back then, this reflects in the brass handles as opposed to the leather handle option. All brass fitting, hinges, locks, and details. Every inch of this trunk is stamped with an LV somewhere. Wood and leather trim. Leather is slightly worn as to be expected but still in tact. The wear on this item is on the bottom sides from traveling, more so scuff marks. The inside condition is in very good shape and could still be used to store anything, straps on inside also has the LV sewn into them. Antique 1909 Louis Vuitton steamer trunk in very good original condition
This beautiful 1909 Louis Vuitton monogrammed trunk(serial# 167505) was used by Nettie(nee Becker) Carlson when she emigrated from Germany to Whitewater. Wisconsin, in the early 1900’s. It has been unused and well preserved in a closet since 1968. One of the front panels was lightly painted over(see photo) but no other changes or restorations have been made. It has all original elements, including the leather top strap and two removable compartments, except for one inside compartment divider and the key to the lock. Both compartments contain fabric enclosures with LV brass buckles and LV name on fabric straps. There is some expected wear but the trunk is in very fine overall condition. The lock is stamped and marked Louis Vuitton London. All four built-in wheels function well(one sticks slightly but may just be impeded by a slight bend in ... morethe metal surround– see photo) It measures 43.5" long x 20.5" high x 21.5" deep. The key also included included! The monogram is is good condition for a vintage trunk except from the wear that is pictured. Does show some marks from use as you can see in the photos. The brass shows some signs of wear such as tarnish. Rubbing and a few dents. The interior is in nice shape. The lid stays up by itself. The interior tray is very rare to have intact with the divider. The straps to the tray are all in place and free of tears snags. The serial number reads 805705. The monogram painting was done by Louis Vuitton and reads T.P.W. Rarely Found Original Antique 1920s 30s Vintage Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk Cargo Tray. These are always missing and rarely found on their own. This would have gone inside an LV monogram era steamer trunk or large luggage case. It is a cloth covered wooden frame with 2 lift handles and 2 tie down straps each with heavy brass buckle marked: Louis Vuitton Brevete" and on reverse"Paris.
