The trunk does have most of the original label on the top, although I am unsure of the age of the trunk. The leather carry straps are intact at both ends. There is an H C & D Honolulu label on the side of the trunk. There are a lot of scratches to the bottom finish on the trunk. The locking mechanism is missing from the center latch. The inner lining of the trunk is also quite worn and has a lot of tears and stains in it. The trunk is 12” tall, 7.5” deep, 17.5” front to back at the corners, 16.

I believe from air plane panels. The quality is military over-build which is very durable and tough. On the top of this trunk a hole punched stencil reads'Major Ben W. Hunsaker. M.A.T.S. Andrews A.F. Base, Wash. D.C. M.A.T.S. stands for Military Air Transport Service. Activated on 1 June 1948. M.A.T.S was a consolidation of the United States Navy Naval Air Transport Service(NATS) and the United States Air Force Air Transport Command(ATC) into a single, joint, unified command. It was inactivated and discontinued on 8 January 1966 when the Air Force and Navy set up separate strategic airlift commands. There is a red metal tag riveted to the front reading'KOWA Industry' and leather carry handles at both ends. Two latches and a locking mechanism secure the trunk. Matching KOWA key is included. As you can see in the photos the trunk is in good vintage condition with normal wear consistent with age and it’s use. All which adds to the character of the piece. There is some faint writing on the lid in faded marker. See photos. This trunk is 29.75” long x 17” wide x 13.5” high. Use as a coffee table, end table, or storage chest. It measures approximately 31" x 16" deep x 12" tall inches. Has Railway Form still attached to top from a soldier shipping the trunk home to Orlando from an Army base in Georgia. Dated 1945. Wonderful bit of nostalgia added. additional pictures available. Trunk is sturdy and well built with all rivets. Handles and metal straps secure on metal body. This old guy is a rare find in that it still has most of the original teal green color still prevalent. It is 30" Long and 12" Tall and 16" wide. It is metal all around with spots a rust and the bottom has rusted through in two small spots. Both leather straps are intact and they are original. Vintage Hartmann steamer trunk luggage chest antique foot locker
Large rectangular steamer trunk by Hartmann Trunk Company. Not sure of dates. But I tried to look up the patents(on a label inside the trunk) and the only patents I could located were from the 1920s. Approximately 4 feet high, 2 feet wide,foot and a half deep. Leather handles torn. Some rust. A little musty but it should clean up decently. Some tears to the fabric, and a small dent/break in the exterior(visible in the 10th picture) Prefer local pickup but will provide a shipping quote if interested. Please check my other items.
