Beautiful plantation desk. What I know: Desk came from a Kentucky plantation and is civil war era. Has lots of pigeon holes in drop down desk and original glass in upper bookcase. Was told it is walnut. But I do not know. It is well made and unique, a wonderful piece of history. I have owned for 20 years. Love it but am downsizing to smaller home. There are compartments for ledgers, bills and mail, a spiral spring device held business cards. The finish is in excellent condition on solid walnut.
