A French Louis XV Style Console Table with brilliant Gilded surfaces. The top of this piece is glorious, a removable shapely rose marble top with an incredible thick solid piece of marble measuring 1 1/8" thick. It projects slightly over the edge of the conforming table frame, this with an overwhelming cyma-curve influence that allows void of the royal piece to outline the crown of a king. The central motif is a rocaille treatment surrounded by swirls of acanthus and foliage that drapes along the molded frame. Flanked by the pair of cabriole legs on either side that are locked in place with a decorative and functional stretcher embellished centermost with another deep shell ... moreformation. The frame is held together in the back with a single board that dovetails on either side. Another secondary board dovetailing across the center beneath the marble top to lock the frame in place. THEY HAVE TWO FREE STANDING LEGS IN THE FRONT AND THEN MOUNTING AGAINST THE WALL WITH SCREWS. IT IS IN VERY NICE CODITION FOR ITS AGE WITH THE NORMAL SIGNS OF WEAR. This is a beautiful empire marble top console table that I am dating circa 1840. The table has the original finish and also the original scalloped and beveled marble top. The table is very solid and sturdy and the marble is very heavy. Other than the normal wear for an antique both the table and marble are in fine condition. Their is one small piece of veneer on the side apron that has been repaired. The table measures 39 1/2" wide. 26" deep, and 31" tall. It sits on 4 small brass rollers. The legs and center stretcher are both scalloped and very decorative. The apron below the marble top is covered in crotched mahogany veneer. This is a really beautiful table if empire is your thing. A superb table. American made probably Philadelphia and dates about 1845-60. The base is solid high grade old growth imported Mahogany, imagine in those days having to acquire the mahogany to construct this table. The design and carving detail is brilliant, the craftsmanship is so crisp and clean. These were true craftsman who would make a table of this nature and did a fine job at it! The incredible acanthus carved center post supported by 4 outstretched legs with paw feet are the base holding the white statuary marble top. Superb Antique Gilt French Marble Top Console Table and Mirror Rocco Style
This is a superb marble top console table together with the original mirror made in France circa 1880. The base has a grey marble top with very heavily carved gilt french style carbriole legs. The mirror has the same crest as the console table and also has carvings to the top and bottom of the mirror.
