Antique Oak Small Tavern Table Lift Top c. 1800's Hand Carved Dark Finish
Antique small oak tavern table. Beautiful dark finish and aged appearance. Arcade carving around the table skirt and turned legs in the vase-ring-and-bulb design. Carving looks hand done. Overhanging. Molded-edge top lifts on steel H hinges and reveals a storage space in place of the typical drawer. Legs are slightly splayed and connected by stretchers with a slight vertical curve. Unsure of the table's exact age, but based on the carving, splayed legs and hinges I would guess it dates from the late 1800's or early 1900's. It probably comes from America or Northern Europe. Overall. The table is very good condition. There is some wear to the finish around the edges of the top and the feet. There is also a darker spot on the top of the table, where an object was probably placed and the wood faded around it. No breaks or visible ... morerepairs. The table stands 21.5" tall and meaures 22" X 14" across the top. Oak Small Tavern Table William & Mary Turned Legs Hand Carved American Emblem
I believe this is a very early Small Tavern Table in the William and Mary Style from the late 1800's. It appears to be oak and has a dark finish with an aged appearance with the finish remaining very good. The table is heavy for its size so it is definitely a heavy wood. The top is a solid board with a turned edge all the way around. It has arcade carving around the table skirt and has turned legs in a spool. Vase, ring, and bulb design from my research and the legs are splayed. The base has stretchers and the front ones have an upward curve design. There is a brass label attached to the bottom with very small nails that reads'American Emblem Co. Inc' Design No. 83( Utica, NY. Originality Quality and has a AE in a triangle shape. I can find no reference to them making furniture but the tag looks original. There are two larger ... morevery early nails on the bottom with nothing attached. I know little about furniture and am describing this as best I can. I am including lots of pictures for you to view. Measurements Ht. 20 3/4" Lt. Top 20" Wt. Top 12" Wt. Skirt at top 16 1/2" and at bottom 16 1/2" Wt. Side Top Skirt 10 1/2" and Wt. Bottom 12 1/2" so legs splay that much. This is a museum quality piece of furniture. Nice Antique Hand Pegged Dry Red Color -- Dinning or Kitchen Tavern Table
This is a Great Pegged Antique Country Tavern Table in a Very Usable Size at a very Reasonable Price. The legs are chamfered with a nice bead along the worn stretchers and table skirt. The piece is all hand pegged. Mortise and tenoned together, the drawer is hand dovetailed with square headed nails securing the back with an old lock. The top is pegged to the base. The base has a dry old dusty red color while the top has a mellow brown color. It's great for a small dinner party or for use as a small kitchen island or other work table. It stands 28 1/2 inches high with the top measuring 47 by 31 inches. The piece shows use with worn stretchers, splits in some of the pegged joints, and the top has a small 2 inch by 2 inch patch(see photos) a split and burn mark. However, the piece is rock solid and will hold up to kneading dough or other ... morerigorous kitchen activities. Although I try to describe and photograph all items as carefully as possible. we live in Orange Va. Incorporated in 1834 officially 1872. There's a lot if rich history in our town. Some houses have been here since the town was founded and many of the people have lived nowhere else in their lives! Makes for a great place to live and raise a family. One day a few months ago on our way home we noticed a guy on our street cleaning out his house and stopped to see if he was selling anything he said his mother who had lived in the house his whole life( about 65 years) had past and he was putting things in storage until the family could get together to go through it. But told us we could go through the junk pile and found this table. Just knowing antiques I knew it was quite old so I grabbed it. It's been in my back room since. While watching Antique Roadshow Richmond last night they showcased a piece that looked ... moreso much like my piece I almost jumped out of bed. After looking over what I have compared to what was on the show, I'm positive to say we have a one drawer Virginia tavern table! The drawer has the same wood(pine) that you look for on a Virginia tavern table and it's a very close match! There's a few flaws as you can see from pics it is missing a board at the rear of the top the drawer has some splits and broken spots but is solid. The whole table is a very solid piece if history and is in as found condition! Look up Antique Roadshow Richmond,Virginia Tavern Table. It has a few nails here and there someone added over the year. Antique French Tavern Table 18th Or Early 19th Century Wood
This is a very rare and very old antique French tavern table from the 1700's or early 1800's. It is in very good condition with no notable flaws. I'm not sure the type of wood but it is solid I believe either oak or mahogany. It has two leaf inserts. One on each end. As you can see in the pictures you can leave them in or remove them if you want a smaller table. The entire table measures 92" long by 27.5" wide and 31" tall. Tavern Table Fabulous Mid 18th Century
Beautiful Tavern Table This table measures 32" wide 20 3/4" deep and 28" tall The table appears to be all walnut but the bottom of the drawer looks to be pine. It's in very nice condition considering it's age but there are some stains from items being placed on it over the years. Please look closely at the photos. It is assembled using old wooden dowels but the outer edges of the bottom of the drawer appears to have crude nails that are similar to ones that were on a 17th century piece from the same estate. The handle on the drawer appears to have been added at sometime in the distant past but the old lock on the inside appears to be original to the table's drawer. It is amazingly solid but the rear of the drawer bottom is loose and I did not want to use the wrong process to tighten it so I have left it as it is. ... moreI will be glad to make shipping arrangements for the winning bidder but I will need a couple of days to build a crate for it and pack it securely. Two Drawer Tavern Table in Heavy Hardwood, Antique Unknown Age, EX
Coming from the estate of a serious antiques collector is this two-drawer tavern table or nightstand. It's heavy weight comes from using hardwoods and not veneers. Overall in excellent condition. And original except maybe the knobs appear to have been replaced(see photos zoomed) Measures 23" wide x 28-1/2" high x 19-1/2" deep. And weighs about 34 lbs. The woods used appear a mix, including oak, maybe walnut and maple too. The drawers may use a yellow pine, etc. The insides of the knob holes show once locking-like parts. So it was probably a locking table before. The top surface photos show a smooth sheen and a ring from placing a lamp on it, but this can be wiped cleaned. Other photos show the two sides and back, the underside of lower drawer in its place. Will be carefully packed. Antique Onyx top Table Pub, Bar bistro. Tavern. Granite. 1800's or earlier. Rare
A great example of an early. Probably 1700-1800's. Black onyx top with some scratches and nicks. Overall in great condition for as old as it is. No one will have one of these. Very rare. Cast iron legs, with a wooden body in original paint. Measures 38 inches in diameter and 30 inches high. Solid and ready to use. Small wobble to the top, but I put a chig under the only to stabilize it. Pictures tell the story. Pick up only on this table.
