EMPIRE MAHOGANY GAME TABLE ON FINELY TURNED LEGS With our compliments we are pleased to offer you this fine quality Empire Circa 1830's games table in solid mahogany with a crotched figured tapered mahogany pedestal. This table has a dovetailed table box and a double joined base. Its stands on exceptionally well done feet and caster wheels defining its age as the earlier Empire movement. Its in its first finish first surface. The only flaws we note is a small repair where one its recessed brass piano hinge pins was pulled loose. These are great values in America's last true period furniture movement. It measures 36" long. 17 1/2" wide, 30 3/4 tall and 35 1/4" wide when opened in its games position. ONE OF A KIND* 1830's Federal Table We are pleased to offer this Rare and One of A Kind Federal 1830's Table. The Table consists of two separate Drop Leaf Tables which can be used separately as two smaller tables or as one very large banquet table. The tops of each of these tables swivels with its unique design to rotate and rest on the center of the base so the table is solid when put together. It has it's original locking mechanism which prevents it from pulling apart. The tops of each piece are made out of a solid 2 foot wide piece of Cherry wood while the base is made out of Mahogany and Flame Mahogany Veneer. The base is a classic design of the period and the legs connect to the original Brass Caster wheels for easy moving. This table is solid and was obviously well taken care of over the years. That is not to say it doesn't ... moreshow it's age with the usual minor flaws found in a piece this old. There are some very minor veneer chips which can be seen from one of the photo's but nothing major. In our 13 years in business we have never seen a piece like this. Needless to say it is quite rare and someone will be glad to own this piece of American history. The lion was always believed to be the king of all the natural beast of earth by all cultures. The Griffin was a magical powerful and majestic creature that was considered to be the King of the mythological creatures and was the protector of priceless treasures. This is why you will see them incorporated into the architecture of many buildings including Gothic style churches. To protect the people that was in it from any harm. The Griffin was first created from a misconception ... morederived from the fossilized remains of the Protoceratops dinosaur that was found in the early gold mines of Altia of Scyathia in the present day country region of Kazakhstan. The ancient Persians first created the mythical creature and then the Egyptians used it as far back as 3,300 B.C. It is one of the most diversely used ancient creatures there is being used also by the Asians, Greek and Roman Empire cultures.
