I have ever seen. This table top was most certaining cut from a ancient old mahogany tree. The stenciling is original the design is the same pattern on each end of the table as will around the lower center drum where the legs attach. We purchased this gorgeous French Restoration Period(circa 1830-1850) antique tole tray and later hand-crafted and hand-painted table at the prestigious 2009 Palm Beach Jewelry Art and Antique Show in Palm Beach. Florida. We bought it from esteemed Palm Springs, CA antiques dealer Christopher Anthony Ltd. and can provide the original receipt to the lucky buyer of this stunningly beautiful piece. The tray itself is a genuine period antique, with hand-gilding and painting in gold and red decor in the Chinese aesthetic. We used this beautiful piece as a coffee table in the formal living room of our home in Florida. Maryland(about 40 miles south of Gettysburg, PA) where I was an antiques dealer for about five years. I had the pick of the furniture in numerous estate sales and auctions. Victorian walnut 46 inch Round dining table extends to 8 feet ca. 1865?
This table was given to my mother in 1963 in Albany NY by a friend of hers that was moving cross country. At that time she told her it was about 100 years old. It was in peices and had several coats of paint on it. She spent a whole winter stripping and restoring it. She finished it with linseed oil and every year at Christmas would rub it down. It sat in the lobby of a resort they bought in 1978 and she was made several offers over the years. She gave it to me only months before she died it was absolutely her prize possession. I need to sell it I am moving to Japan and cannot afford to ship it and I need the money. It is solid walnut no makers mark that I can find. It extends to 8 feet but no leafs, a good cabinet maker could easily replicate some. no reserve. I am guessing the weight is about 80 to 100 lbs.

This is a Directoire style drop-leaf table with a whippet or greyhound inlay on top. It has the square tapered legs and elegant design typical of the style and the wood inlays that are shared with Sheraton style furniture. The table is rosewood with poplar and mahogany inlays. The center of the table has an inlay of a sitting whippet or greyhound. The center board. Leaves and legs are all inlaid as well. The table stands 27 inches high and when the leaves are down it is about 25 x 8 inches. Each leaf when open adds about 14 inches to the width of the table top so that with both open the top of the table is about 25 x 35 inches. The inlays are in excellent condition-no missing pieces.
