It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! Note: Not shipping overseas nor to Alaska on this one. Only to domestic United States. They generally have a curved top that slopes in both directions and built using a variety of construction methods including molded ply and barrel construction among others. Within this style of trunks are a few other names that have come about based on the positioning of the wood slates that cover the dome construction. The exact origin of these names is unknown but seem reasonable and listed below as I understand them. Barrel Stave Trunks(1860-1885) they generally date a bit earlier than most of the dome tops made and have horizontal running slats instead of vertical(end to end vs. ... moreover the top) Giving it a slightly different look. Antique Metal and Wood Steamer Ship Trunk Storage
Offering a great large metal antique trunk. It is wood grain metal with wood slat accents and beautiful metal cleat details all in very good condition considering the age of the piece. The lock is present but does not work and there is no key. There is one leather strap missing. It does have wheels on the bottom but they may need some cleaning to release their moving parts. The wood interior is a little rough but stable. Just needs some TLC. Please look at all the pictures to assess it condition and/or contact me with any questions. Cleaned up and restored on the inside, this could be a beautiful additional storage solution in any room in your house. Measuring approx. 32-1/4" wide x 18-3/4" x 20-3/4" tall. The lid is supported by a metal corner bracket that keeps the lid up nicely when the trunk is open. The wooden tray has the original metal finger lifts on each side so you can easily lift the tray out of the trunk. The inside floor of the trunk is wood but underneath the trunk is metal with the original metal rollers that act as little feet and move the trunk along easily. This piece has a lot of character I have seen people put wallpaper inside these trunks to match their room. Leave it clean wood or paper it your choice. Antique Victorian Early 1800's Whaling Ship Dovetail Wood Hand Painted Trunk
I've had this trunk for almost 15 years. It is wood with ornate metal work. Good condition. Very sturdy. Grass green paint. Looks to be the original paint. Inside lid has a whaling ship hand painted on it. Very unique and what drew me to the trunk originally. It was discovered somewhere locally(south central KY) by an older couple in our small town that always dealt in fine antiques. I was in contact with Ken Farmer(Antiques Roadshow) about two years ago and he called this an antique whaling trunk and appraised it for around $1.000-$1500. Measures 35x22x21in.
