Up for sale is this nice vintage school house small child's desk and chair with storage for lunch or books- great for decor or use. This desk is very solid with metal and wood construction- built to last! It has some wear from age as expected but overall it is in good condition. It measures 24" tall and 24 3/4" from the back rest to the front edge of the desk. The seat measures 11 1/2" by 11 1/2" and the desk measures 20" by 14 1/2" This desk is for a very small child- probably toddler to kindergarten. But the wood still has it's character.with plenty of original"ware marks" still present. The steel parts and components are all in great shape, free of any nicks or gouges. The piece oozes nostalgia with wood that has a great. Rich patina. Among the carved names are"Joyce" and"Jack" and other pictures. Including something that looks like a flower. Antique 1800's Chandler School Desk & Haywood Desk Chair Cast Metal Legs & Base
Up for auction is an incredible survivor set of an antique 1800's schoolhouse desk and chair set in maple. This set is in very original condition with original finish and initials carved. The ink well is missing but that is about it. These go very well together and came from the same source although I cannot verify they originally worked together. The desk is marked"Chandler" and"The Boston" on the cast iron legs. There are no other markings. The bentwood chair is in excellent condition and marked"Haywood 3 Eclipse" There are signs that both desk and chair cast iron areas were once gloss black enamel. These would look so cool if repainted. No serious rust but the black is mostly gone. A wire wheel on a drill would make quick work of this. The desk measures 24" wide x 16" deep x 30" tall. This very nice late1800s school desk will look great anywhere in your home. The bench seats folds up. The desktop has a hole for inkwell and a groove for pencils. Very nice ornate wrought iron legs add to the beauty. Inscribed on the leg are the patent dates from 1881. 1890, and 1891. Sorry for the poor quality of the photos but the words are much clearer than these pictures show. There are many uses for these school desks as a decoration or actual use in your house. I have seen some used as very nice plant stands. This desk is in great shape for it's age with some minor scratches and aging. Up for sale are a pair of Heywood Eclipse wooden school desk chairs with adjustable metal bases. On the base is the Manufacturer name and the#3. I believe these date to 1890 time frame. They have been in my family since I was a child and at one time we had the desks to them that we used at home as kids. One chair is in better shape than the other but both are very solid with no major issues. One of the chairs does have some separation in the glue joints although nothing is loose. Antique Chandler Adjustable Child School Cast Iron& Wood Desk& Chair With Inkwell A beautiful antique adjustable child's Desk and Chair patent date 1886 made by Chandler Co. of Boston Massachusetts. This desk and chair set is in amazing condition complete with inkwell and sliding cover and pencil groove! Both the desk and the chair feature adjustable black cast iron bases in very nice shape and working condition. The desk adjusts from 17" to 22 tall" and the seat adjusts from 9" to 12" inches high. The desk top measures 18" wide x 12" deep. The seat measures 10" x 10" the back rest measures 10" high. The Cast Iron base of the chair is marked" CHANDLER" along with the patent dates. It also features 6 holes around the base for securing it to the floor if desired.
