Antique & Primitive Six Board Footed Painted Pine Blanket Chest, Box, Trunk 47"
I get most of my items at estate auctions and sell them in an"as found" condition. I do no repairs. Alterations and very little cleaning. This is done in the belief that most buyers prefer to receive them as original as possible. Because the items I sell can come from anywhere. I can't guarantee they all come from smoke free environments. DESCRIPTION: The existing color is mustard but there are several colors underneath. Including a coat of blue and another coat of salmon. One of those two is probably the original color of the chest. It is not a dove-tailed chest but it's tight and sound. It does have damage on one of the corners of the lid(see photos) and there is some evidence that some gouges on the lid were filled at one time, and not an expert job. The piece is old enough that the the hand plane marks can be felt on ... morethe interior. The piece probably is no more recent than the mid 1800's and could be older. It is about 47" in length, 16" in width and about 17 1/4" in height. It comes straight from a farm barn near Odessa, Missouri. The metal handles are original but the hinges are not and do not match. Please do not ask for this item to be shipped. It is for local pick up only. No exceptions. A handling charge of $1.50 is included in the domestic shipping costs. Antique Primitive Lift Top Pine Blanket Chest Red Wash Country
Antique primitive or country blanket chest with bracket feet. Simple six-board construction with an unusual half-moon cutout to create the feet at each end. The lift top is held in place by modern steel H-Hinges and a brass finished rest that keeps it from reclosing unexpectedly. Beautiful aged red wash finish. There are large iron nails holding the chest together that look like they are handmade. This piece is in good condition. Especially considering its age. There is a split to the wood near the back of the lid as well as a little bit of separation at the joints. The nails have also come out of the wood a little bit. There are what look like water marks to the finish as well, including splatter marks on one end. An antique miniature chest with wonderful dovetail joints. Footed. It sits on 4 legs. 19 th Century. There is paint on the bottom. Original paint. Lovely warm patina. There are hints of green paint on the outside. This is a beautiful primitive. I measure just over 17 ¼ inches tall by about 26 ¾ inches wide by just under 14 inches deep. A hard to find size. Weighs about 24 pounds. It looks like both hinges have been moved a time or two. There is an inlay patch on the lid near the keyhole. The key hole is quite worn. I’m not sure of the type of wood. The lock is off. There is part of the lock loose on the inside. The box inside may be called a keeper or keepsake or candle box. It has a redish finish on it, you may want to keep it like it is or refinish it? up to you. It measures 49-3/8" wide x 22-1/2" deep x 28-1/4" high with the splash, the ball feet have it sitting about 5-1/4" off the floor. There is a lock, but no key and no catch part. It is as it was when taken out the attic of an estate in Pennsylvania. It had ... morebeen owned by the Moul family before I purchased it. Great Great Great Rare find here. 3 drawers slide nicely. The fronts show wear. And I believe the wood pulls not to be original to the trunk but are old. There are 2 strap hinges which look like they may be original to the chest, but have been relocated on it, probably because they pulled out at some point in their life. I have not done any work on it other than cleaning and adding a canvas strap so the lid won't flip all the way open. A piece of wood nailed under the top to stop the crack and yes one of the corner legs is worn down a little but it still sits perfect still and have a lot of(CHARACTER) This is a nice size chest and could be a beautiful coffee table with the great pine wood that you will find in this very old chest. The Pine Wood is all Heart Pine and not 1 knot in all of the wood. You have boards that are 15" wide and all heart pine. The chest is 38" Long. The chest is 23 1/2" High. The chest is 24 1/4" from Front to Rear. You have photos of the square nails that date this chest. The 15" board is joined to a smaller board with a hand planed tongue and groove. You have a round large peg on each side as the top hinge pivot. You have hand carved strong handles on each side that look to be carved from hickory. When we got the chest it was super dry and looks like no kind of finish has ever been applied to the chest. We did a bee's was hand rub finish on the chest to make all of the great grain in the pine boards pop out. This little fellow weighs in at 85 lbs. so

Antique Primitive Lift Top Two Drawer Country Sheraton Cherry Blanket Chest
This wonderful early 19th century chest exemplifies many forms of old world wood construction. The lid appears to be pinned mortice and tenon. The sides and drawers are hand dovetailed, and the base is mortice and tenon. The drawer bottoms appear to be hand planed and fastened with square nails.The hardware appears to be original, but the latch is missing. Judging by the edges and evidence of past screw holes, the lid appears to have been turned around. You can also see that a latch cut-out is now at the back of the lid. All of the wood is solid and at least 1" thick. This a very fine antique that measures 44 inches long, 20 inches wide, and 31 inches high. Originally found in central Illinois west of Springfield, now available for local pick-up only in Elgin, Illinois.Thanks for looking at my auction.

There is a chip on the back of the lid(see pix) and someone has used new screws on the hinges. The grain painting is in good condition with a few missing spots on the lid(see pix) There are no splits in the wood. All original feet and it has lock but no key. It is very sound structurally. MEASUREMENTS: 37 1/2" wide x 27 1/2" tall x 19" deep. The front and side planks are 21 1/2" one plank. 1800s Scandinavian Painted Immigrant Dowry Trunk Blanket Chest - Primitive
This"dome top" immigrant trunk from Scandinavia with folk art painting. The ironwork suggests this was a dowry chest. The family name is in script. Hand hewn of pine I believe. European furniture, useful as a blanket chest. Wrought iron hardware but missing top lock. The interior is clean and has 1 inside top tray. Length is 25 inches and 17 inches tall with a depth of 14.5 inches. This is NOT as large as many trunks but quit a wonderful size. The perfect piece to place adjacent to a chair or as a strong accent piece BUT does not dominate the space. Just a charming size. I often used the truck open to display linens. No oder. There is wear to the traditional hand painting. Akin to the famous rosemaling. The fine lines were artistically drawn and still show nicely. This blanket chest has been in my family for 50 years. It is an early primitive pine piece with lots of storage inside. It looks like it may have been stained red originally. Most of the color had faded. In very good condition and a real charmer. There are 3 old black burn rings on the top as seen in the last photo. The measurements are length 42"x width 18.5" x 20" height. A great size for a coffee table or end table.

Antique 1897 Painted Scandinavian Dutch Blanket Chest Trunk Folk Art Primitive
This hand painted old chest is 53" long. 21" wide, 21 1/2" tall and I'm not sure what type of wood it is. It is dated 1897 and there are some names and dates written on the inside of the lid. There is wear- the paint is mostly worn off of the top. The lock has been removed and the keyhole plugged, the screws in the hinges have been replaced, there is some wormwood and the candle box has been rebuilt. The bottom"feet" have some rot and someone cut the worst off so it would sit level. Even with the wear to the wood it is still very sturdy and strong. It almost appears to have been constructed of old flooring.
