for auction is just about the best quality antique quartersawn oak dining table that you will find in it's price range. i have some tables that are from 8600 to 25.000.00, but they are horner or roux, meeks, belter, and the like. but for a table of it's class, they do not come much better. i listed it as hastings or better. i do not know the maker, but i can assure you that hastings never made one of this class in a finer fashion. it could be hastings, if not, it is as good or better. it is solid quartersawn oak, has a great form split pedestal with a hidden center support leg. it has a very very nice and very thick contoured skirt that is attached by screws and metal supports that slid into a groove on the table skirt. the top of the skirt has a molded edge which adds that special touch. the feet are fluted to match the great fluted ... morepedestal. anyway, a wonderful table to say the least. it is 52 inches wide and just at 30 inches tall. it has roller bearing original to the the table and center leg as opposed to casters. it opens up to enable an eight foot dining table. there are no leaves for the table. i am sure there were some at some point in time, but when i bought it,none were included. i can make some quartersawn leaves for my cost should anyone have an interest in that. again a great table. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck.

This is a very nice antique Victorian pedestal style dining table base. You could also use them as 2 separate console bases. It is solid mahogany and has a fluted pedestal, it is stamped with the number 100 on the bottom. It originally had a 50" top, it measures 25" high, it is designed to have castors which would add some height, measuring across the center of any two legs it is 26 1/2" and the top brackets are 14 1/2" wide x 12" deep, the legs are 2 3/4" wide. Some of the hardware on the top is missing as you can see in the pictures. Overall it is in good condition, some scuffs, nicks and dings to the legs which you can see, no splits or cracks to the pedestal or feet and no repairs. antique heavily carved mahogany empire dining table 54 inch split pedestal 3 bds
for auction is one of the finest empire mahogany dining tables i have owned in this price range. i have had horner and others that were in excess of 10-14.000, but none any better built or better quality. this is a great 54 inch split pedestal table with a great turned center leg suppot. it has three 14 inch leaves which have the same grain, color, and patina as the top. leaves installed makes this an eight foot table. if the leaf runner stops were removed, i expect it would open to 12 feet. the table is presented in original finish, there is some crazing to the finish but i would never refinish it. the table is solid mahogany with no veneers, has great grain and a fantastic pedestal which is heavily carved and contoured. the feet are massive claw feet which are carved all the way up the knee to the pedestal. i sold this table to a fella ... moremaybe 3 or 4 years ago and he needed some money, so i have him his money back. with shipping charges i have almost as much in the table as i am starting it for. i am taking it apart to put in storage as i have no room in my house for it. i have like 3o pictures so if you want to see anything else hopefully i have a picture of it, if not i can get one. the table may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck. i just spent several hours cleaning the dirt and grim out of the carvings etc. i used new life and liquid gold, so if it looks a bit shinny here and there i probably didn't get all the cleaner wiped away. any spots or usual looking objects in any of the pictures if from a dirty camera. i can't seem to get some of the junk off the lens.

I always thought it was mahogany, but now that it is set up the top looks like solid black walnut on the very top, but the skirt and pedestal base are figural mahogany. Overall the condition is really nice and it is a nice table. It comes with no leaves. The condition of the table is as found showing minor surface scratches here and there and one lamination seam that is there but not pulling apart. The table is in very usable condition, but we do offer a full restoration for those who would prefer it. We can make as many as 5- 12 inch wide leaves if desired and then the table would open to 9 feet long! We have a picture of a table below to show you the quality of our work. For sale is an elegant 19 th century. Antique carved wooden oak pedestal table with an oval top supported by a profusely carved central pedestal. MEASUREMENTS: The tabletop measure 145 cm x 125 cm(57 inches x 50 inches) and is library height. GREAT CARVING: The legs and feet of the massive pedestal base are heavily carved with fanciful animals– it looks like winged griffins– ending in lion’s paws. The central part of the pedestal is carved in acanthus leaves. The top is plain. Has a thick carved band and even rounded apron and is as found(see the splits in the top where the pieces were joined together; it does not affect the use of the table, but for cosmetic reasons could probably be easily glued and clamped together to eliminate the cracks) The top screws on to the base. Superb patination and color in this period mahogany center table/dining table. The diameter is 48 inches and extends to 71.5 inches. The table is 29 inches high. Please look at the condition report and the photographs. There is very slight warping to the top but the catches pull the table together well. There is an old water mark that has not been restored at all. There is one small section of moulding missing to one side(see pics) The woodworm is old and dead for a long time. There was no deterioration in the structural integrity of the pine carcass as a result(see pics) There are some chips to the veneer at the very bottom of the lower platform. The additional leaf was rarely in the table and over time retained its color while the table itself mellowed slightly. At some point the additional leaf was bleached and recolored to match the top. ... moreThere are four inset brass wheels. One to each of the carved feet. The base and the pedestal are cut from thick mahogany veneers and applied to a pine base.
